I was listening to an Ethel Cain song *cough* Ptolemaea *cough* and had an amazing idea. What if I wrote a fic about Jayce being obsessed with Viktor at the bottom of a ravine? Crazy? Yes! Unconventional? Even more yes! But....FUN! YES!
Y'all ever get that weird energy where you feel like you're on the cusp of creativity or hyperfixation, but you just haven't crested over yet, but you can feel it coming. You just need to maybe sit and think and stuff will flow, but you don't have the time to do it at the moment so it's this weird, almost nervous energy just bubbling beneath the surface? No? Just me?
That empty feeling when you've finished a big piece of work that had all your creative synapses firing...
a months-long writing drought followed by a weekend in which I find myself drafting and think "huh, maybe this should be two chapters"
why is creativity such a non-linear process~

creatives, when your bandwidth allows, I urge you to have a long-term passion project AND short-term just-for-fun projects
because the shorter, for-fun outlets allow you to keep creating and to keep the passion for creating alive when the long-term project has its drought periods (which it will. oh, how it will.)
hey, you! here's a reminder that it's not just okay but AWESOME to promote your own creations multiple times.
you invested time and energy into them. promote them whenever you feel like it. 💜 no matter how old those creations are.
periodic reminder that we see the worst in our own creations because we made them
(it me. I'm the one needing the reminder.)
