"Heert was playing Dedra, but Lonni was manipulating Heert by giving him the information he needed," Emms explains. "I think Heert was a little bit spellbound by Lonni. Me and Jacob (Jacob James Beswick, who played Heert) thought there was some kind of flirty thing there, which enabled Lonni to use Heert. It’s been a little while since I’ve worked on A Marriage of Heaven and Hell (I’ve had dear friends staying with me and my family for over a week and we’re preparing to host my sons birthday party today. So when I’m not working, washing dishes or changing diapers, I have NO mental or physical energy left for anything else).

Partagaz has had that chewing a wasp face for a while now and Dedra looks like she’s got one stuck up her arse, so it’s good to see a friendly face. Jung has this habit of staying quiet but when he does say something it’s always … worth saying.

I wish I could do that.

So he’s saved me from being next on the menu.

Yes. Lunch. A bite to eat. I can do that. Nice to return a favour. It’s the way this place works. We both know that, I suppose, but I like to think we can be friends too.

I feel fractionally safer, playing with Heert. He’s so eager to please although he pretends he isn’t finding his way.

But I’ve been playing this game for longer. He owes me lunch. That he wants to return the favour at all is something I can play with, later, maybe. Favours owed can be stored for future use. Especially if I can use this tendency.

He has a need… for friendship. Or something a little like it.

I can provide that. Let him owe me a little more, and maybe I can get more than lunch.
