Alex in most stories is seeking understanding or even just someone to listen since he didn’t have anyone willing to give him positive reinforcement as a kid and his family kind of made everything a competition. Which is why he envies and even tries to steal Felix’s spotlight in most stories. Somewhat becoming obsessive with his cousin’s life until an 'event' breaks the cycle.

If the ‘event’ isn’t in the story I’ve made it’s usually replaced. But there is one where it doesn’t happen which leads to a toxic relationship between them, but Julius in that story is also a bit of a control freak due to how their family operates in that one. But that’s my TOXIC storyline I don’t talk about since it's not very 'friendly'.

Now Julius most of the time is a loving but tired older brother in most stories. Often having to step in when it comes to his brothers lives since he practically raised the two of them.

In some stories though he can be a little shit, like Alex shot cupid. He tends to dig his nose into everything since he’s naturally very curious in that storyline.

However, Julius often is the shoulder Alex can lean on and he can speak as much as he needs to without forcing himself. Which surprised Alex in the beginning most of the time.

Julius is also able to talk to Alex in a similar way where they both see the others struggles and can connect deeply with each other since they have to play very similar roles in their family lines. Often having a lot of expectations on them.

Alex’s family however is super neglectful while Julius’s has a iron clutch on him. So they get to be better versions of themselves together. Even sticking up for one another when it comes to circumstances since they’re both able to stand up to the others family in a way their partner wasn’t able to.

Julius can patiently unwind Alex’s family to expose their own lies to them. Alex is confrontational and often seeks the dirt hiding under the rugs when it comes to people so he can have a leg up in competitive fights with family. Julius is patient and can read the under tones of fancied words. Alex is hot headed and confrontational often surprising people by reacting with his heart first.

Now the toxic versions of them work in a very different way together. Alex would be pretty vain and would seek the not so good attention by poking Julius like a bear.

Julius in the toxic story would be very controlling and paranoid, so he would fight with Alex over the attention he draws to himself before blocking Alex’s exits forcing him to spend more time with him than they already did.

Alex would crave the attention since he was used to being severely ignored in favor of others. This being the toxic storyline I made, Alex’s behavior only worsened due to Felix exposing Alex’s behavior to the rest of the family one day and Kitty encouraged them to disown him which led him to chase Kitty away from Felix and ruining her public image and the relationship Felix had with her which leads him down the paranoid root as well.

It was kind of a situation where I wanted to write Alex into a a story of mine. An old au that has since been removed from public access.

Julius was in the story and Alex was becoming a small fixation of mine so I wanted to add a side plot cause Julius was already tied so heavily into the story but had no friends outside of family ties and didn't have anyone he could rely on his time of dire need I wrote Alex down in that place.

It ended up working REALLY well. To the point that I had Julius ask Alex out by the end of that chapter and Alex getting flustered by it.

Of course this led to me kind of conflicting myself a little and eventually I just kind of.... accepted it as a ship.

I love my little ship and even if no one likes it. It's mine that I crafted and it's here to stay <3

Julex is now one of my favorite ships and no one can stop me uwu. Plus it helped me create Alex shot cupid ^^
