Tara took a deep breath and rubbed her sweaty palms against her jeans. It was her day off, yet she was still at the hospital. Tara didnât know why she was nervous as she headed down the bleak corridors towards the psychiatric unit of St Thomas Hospital. Tara rarely came down to this unit as she was a surgeon in the neonatal department. There was nothing for her to be nervous about. She was just going to visit her friend that was all. Today was Doctor Oatfieldâs day in the psychiatric unit instead of her office in the main building of the hospital. Tara scanned herself in with her all access scanner card and walked toward the guarded and boxed in nurses desk. Tara remembered doing her practicalâs in a ward like this when she was studying in Chicago.Â
A familiar nurse smiled at Tara.âDr Knowles, what are you doing this side of town?â The nurse laughed at her own joke.
Tara laughed and smiled along politely. âIâm here to see Doctor Oatfield, do you know when sheâll be finished?â
The nurse nodded. âShe should be finished in ten minutes and then sheâll be finished here for the day. Do you want to wait in here or outside?â
Tara bit her lip. âI think Iâll wait outside. Could you please tell her Iâm waiting for her?â
The nurse smiled and nodded.Â
Tara turned on her heel and scanned herself out of the ward.
Tara stood in the waiting room outside of the psych unit and paced the dreary, antiseptic smelling waiting room. Tara was terrified that her friend would think that she was taking advantage of her, that somehow all this sneaking around behind the hospital systemâs back would lead back to her and the club. Tara knew she was taking advantage of her situation and privileges but she wanted to help the club in any way she could. She was an old lady now, and she needed to act like one. She heard the familiar buzz of someone exiting the unit and Tara took a deep breath and straightened herself up. Doctor Oatfield breezed out of the ward with a smile on her face. Her blonde hair fell around her collarbones and was pushed behind her ear. Tara smiled at her and the doctor rushed to hug her friend.
âTara Knowles! How are you?â Doctor Oatfield gushed, hugging Tara with one arm.
âIâm great Hayley. How are you?â Tara smiled as she disengaged from the hug. Something about Hayley always calmed her down.
Hayley grinned. âIâm great, itâs been a successful day. The nurses said you were looking for me, what do you need?â
Tara chewed on her lip. âI just wanted to check on Gemma. Sheâs been coming to her sessions right?â
âEvery single one.â Hayley nodded. âSheâs been doing great.â
Tara nodded. âGood. Youâre not angry that I asked you to do that right?â
Hayley squinted and shook her head. âOf course not. Itâs my job to help people. Why Tara? Whatâs going on?â
Tara shook her head. âI need to ask you another favour.â
Hayley sighed. She knew that Tara wasnât trying to take advantage of her but thatâs what it seemed like. It was in Hayleyâs nature to help, she couldnât refuse if someone asked for her help. It was her biggest strength and her deepest flaw.
âWhat is it Tara?â Hayley asked, trying to keep the effervescence in her voice.
âGemma asked if you could possibly add someone to the front of your line. Like when you have a cancellation or something. He needs help immediately or heâs going to go off the edge.â Tara tried to sell it as best she could, hoping to tug on Hayleyâs heartstrings somehow.
âWho is it?â Hayley asked.
âThe guy whose wife was brutally shot in a drive by a month ago. He needs your help Hayley.â
Hayley swallowed back any irritation she had when she heard whom she needed to help. Hayley knew that woman was a young mother of two, that it was a senseless act of gun violence committed completely by mistake.Â
âIâm going to check my books and let you know okay? Iâm happy to help.â
Tara wrapped Hayley in a hug. âThank you so much Hayley. Call me once you know.â
Hayley Oatfield began to make her way back to her safe and warm office in the main building of the hospital. She loved what she did, but her days down in the psychiatric unit never failed to spook her. Hayley mulled over what Tara had asked of her. It wasnât a huge issue for Tara to refer people, so Hayley was confused as to why Tara was acting so strangely. Hayley didnât want to take people without going through the system but she didnât see it as a huge deal. Once Hayley arrived back at her office, her friendly secretary Lucy greeted her.
âHey Luce, can I look over my bookings for the next couple weeks?â Hayley asked, swinging around the wooden desk so she could be behind it with Lucy.
Lucy nodded and pushed herself away from the computer so Hayley could use it. Hayley began to furiously type and scroll through her schedule and client books. It turned out that next week she had a cancellation right before Gemmaâs session. It was perfect timing. Hayley exited all browsers before thanking Lucy and leaving the office. Hayley was pleased to be going home after a long day. Hayley headed towards her black sports car and unlocked the door. She took her place behind the steering wheel and started the engine. Slow synth pop began to play from the stereo as she pulled out of the hospital parking lot. She sang along to the music as she drove through the quiet streets of Charming. Hayley was always reminded of how pleased she was to be back in Charming when she made her commute home. She had grown up here for most of her young life until she moved to Chicago with her parents when she was sixteen. Hayley made the move back to Charming a few months ago, three years after acquiring her psychology license and garnering a reputation as one of the best psychologists in the USA. She received an offer for a residency in her hometown of Charming and she took it without hesitation. Hayley pulled into the driveway of her small one story house and locked up her car when she exited it. The small house with deep brown rendering was the one she grew up in. Her parents still leased it and gave it to her when she decided to move back to Charming. Hayley walked inside and was greeted by her large black Labrador that she affectionately named Buddy.
âHey Buddy!â She smiled and ruffled his fur in her hands before walking into the kitchen.
Hayley fed Buddy his dinner in the kitchen and then headed toward the living room adjacent to the kitchen. She sat down on her couch and began to flip through channels on her large TV. It was quiet and peaceful and thatâs how she liked it.
Hayley began to think about the person Tara referred to her. He was the husband of the woman caught in the crossfire of a suspected gang related crime. It was known that the woman was the wife of a member of the Sons of Anarchy motorcycle club and Hayley always had a suspicion that the Sons were involved in the murder. Hayley had to ignore that opinion if she was going to evaluate and help the suffering husband. Hayley began to think of how Tara knew the man well enough to risk asking Hayley to go behind the hospital systemâs back. Tara didnât even give Hayley the manâs name. Hayleyâs mind began to race as she worried about Tara. Was she caught up in the Sons of Anarchy? Hayley wasnât afraid of the club, but it was a motorcycle club and Hayley knew better than anyone how dangerous motorcycle clubs could be. Hayley tried to mute her overthinking and reached for her cell phone. She dialed Taraâs number and awaited her to pick up.
âHey Hayley, I was waiting for your call.â Tara answered after the first ring.
âSorry Tar, I got home and completely forgot to call you. I checked my bookings and thereâs an opening right before Gemmaâs session next Wednesday. Would that work?â Hayley explained.
âIâll ask Gemma and let you know tonight okay?â Tara replied.
âThatâs fine. Oh, and Tara? You never told me the guyâs name.â
âOh! Iâm sorry! His name is Harry Winston, but everyone calls him Opie.â Tara explained, a happy tone evident in her voice.
And with just the utterance of a name, Hayley felt a crack go right through the centre of her heart.
Tara felt so relieved once she got off the phone to Hayley. She felt as if the weight of Gemmaâs request rolled off her shoulders. She could hear Jaxâs bike roar into the drive and a wave of happiness crash over her. She loved having Jax to come home to every day, and his beautiful son Abel. It was a blessing to have the two men in her life to keep her grounded and focused. Jax and Tara were high school sweethearts with only eyes and hearts for each other. They were torn apart when they were nineteen when Tara had the opportunity to chase her dream of becoming a surgeon in Chicago, plus Tara was desperately trying to escape the Sons of Anarchy lifestyle; a lifestyle she now fully embraced. Tara waited patiently in the kitchen for Jax to walk inside and sweep her off her feet. No matter what, Jax would always make her feel giddy, as if she was walking on clouds.
âHoney, Iâm home.â Jax called out with a laugh as he opened the front door.Â
He walked a few steps into the entryway and turned on his heel to the kitchen where he knew Tara would be waiting for him. Tara smiled when she saw him, flipping her dark hair over her shoulder. She embraced him tightly before planting a kiss on his lips. She pushed his blonde chin length hair behind his ear while she gazed into his eyes. A cheeky grin appeared on Jaxâs face as he watched Tara.
âWhat are you thinking about babe?â He asked, squeezing the sides of her small frame.
Tara shook her head. âNothing.â
Jax laughed. âYou were thinking about me werenât you?â
Tara felt the blood rush to her cheeks. âMaybe.â
Jax pressed in and kissed his girl more passionately, their bodies melting together as if they perfectly aligned. He pulled Tara onto the kitchen counter and fit perfectly between her legs. Taraâs hands roamed the back of Jaxâs leather cut, feeling the rough embroidered Sons of Anarchy patch against her fingertips. She was still getting used to the lifestyle and all it entailed, but all that mattered was that she had Jax back. Suddenly, Abelâs cry began to resound all throughout the house. Jax pulled away and groaned.
âWhy does this always happen?â Tara whined.
Jax laughed and began to walk off. âWelcome to parenthood babe.â
Once Jax was out of sight, Tara took out her cell phone and dialed Gemma.
âHey Gem, itâs Tara. Doctor Oatfield got Opie in for a session. Should I tell him or should you?â

Info: y/n comforts Chibs after his nephews death in Belfast.
Warnings: mentions of death, swearing
When the club found out Abel was in Belfast, they knew they needed to go. Tara asked Jax, and he denied her requests to go. That made y/n hesitant to ask Chibs, yeah they were Tara and Jax and have been consistently together for about three years, there was still doubt. If one old lady couldnât go, why could the other? But that didnât matter now, y/n was in Belfast now.

My heart feels as if it is beating out of my chest, adrenaline is pumping through my veins. I swore I would never come back to this place. Now Itâs the only place that I know I will be safe. They have been following me since I left Arizona. Keeping just in sight of my rear view. They attempted to grab me out of my truck when I was leaving a gas station. I can tell I have a black eye, and my lip is swollen. Im lucky my Old man taught me to fight. I know they are fucking with me, trying to psych me out before they attempt to run me into the ditch again.
All it took was one glimpse at the crow tattooed on my sternum and they were after me. Everyone in a five state distance knew what it meant. That I was an OId Lady for one of the members of the Sons of Anarchy. What better way to gain leverage over a club then to take a members Old Lady? To bad I was an ex. An ex who probably had been forgotten within the two years I had been away.
The welcome to Charming sign passes me in a blur. I barely catch a glimpse of the word SAMCRO carved into the sign, before my eyes are on my rear view mirror again. Obviously these assholes donât know where they are, or where Iâm heading. That or they are prospects, sent out to do the dirty work, and test the waters around Charming.
I quickly pull into the lot at Teller Morrow and notice there is only one bike. A Trike, parked toward the end of where the line usually starts. Piney is here I think to myself as I through the truck in park and begin running toward the clubhouse door. The sound of motors that donât belong to Harley fills the lot, and my fear had tripled. Are these idiots fuckign crazy! Pulling into TM like this is a death wish. My hand grazes the handle on the clubhouse door when it is flung open. Piney standing with a shotgun in hand, quickly steps out of the way as I barrel inside. Heâs standing in the doorway, shotgun at the ready.
âIf you think you have the balls to come inside here be my guestâ he calls into the lot. The bikes from the Guardians MC are lined up, blocking the entrance to Teller Morrow.
âY/N, get my phone off the bar, hit 3, youâll know what to doâ he calls to me over his shoulder.
Running toward the bar I find the old burner, and quickly pressing 3. I go around the backside of the bar, my hands feeling for the pistol that is usually stashed there. MY fingers come in contact with the cold steel as the ringing of the phone stops and a voice I havenât heard in two very long years hits my eardrum.
âYeahâ is all he says and my heart once again is racing. This time not from fear.
âTig, you need to get to the clubhouse, The Guardians followed me, Piney is trying to hold them offâ!
The line goes dead and I throw the phone. Knowing the guys will be here soon. My body goes into fight mode. I have to do whatever it takes to protect Piney and this clubhouse. I run quickly toward a side window thatâs facing the lot. I see two full patched members, along with three prospects. The full members rockers are still white, especially in contrast to the rockers worn by the sons. Marred with dirt, blood, and life on the road.
âWe can do this one of two waysâ Piney yellâs into the lot once more. âYou can leave and pray we donât find you. Or you can start a war you will not winâ. To emphasize his point, he racked the shotgun, making that noise that everyone knows so well. The Guardians at the end of the lot are standing their ground, pistols pointed toward the old man. I hear the faint sound of Harleys coming closer, and I know either all hell is about to break loose, or the pardon of a lifetime is about to take place.
Jax is the first one on the scene, followed by Bobby, Chibs, Tig and Happy. It looks like they have a few prospects as well. The guys are on their feet in seconds when they park at the end of the compound. Pistols drawn, they are aiming at the Guardians, who now have a glint of fear in their eyes.
âYou all are either very stupid, or have huge ballsâ Jax calls toward the men in the center of the lot. âIâm giving you to the count of five to get the hell off my lot, before I unleash hell on your heads. FiveâŚâŚ FourâŚâŚThreeâ. Not needing to be told twice, the Guardian mount their bikes and begin to leave, the Sons pistols still trained on them.
I feel exhausted as the last bike pulls away from Teller Morrow, My body is shaking as I sit down on one of the stained up couches. Piney walks toward the bar, grabbing a bottle of Tequila. He takes a drink before offering me the bottle. I gratefully accept it, knowing Iâm going to need to be numb when he walks in the door.
Chibs is in first, followed by the man who broke my heart two years ago. I give a small smile as Tig gets down on his knees in front of me. His bright blue eyes piercing me with his gaze.
âWhat the hell happened dollâ he asks as he brushes his thumb against my swollen lip, blood coming away with his thumb.
âItâs not mine, well not all of it at least. Apparently biting someoneâs ear when they jump you is frowned upon in Arizonaâ A smile crosses his face as he brushes my hair behind my ear.
âYeah, I wonder who you learned that move fromâ he laughs.
âHere lass, let me look at yeâ Chibs Scottish accent is calming as he takes my face in his hands, looking at the numerous cuts and bruises.
âYouâre gonna be sore for a couple of days, but other then thaâ ye will liveâ he states as he wipes down my cuts with an alcohol wipe.
âThanks Chibbyâ I wince as the cleaning of another cut begins. I see Jax standing close by, a beer in his hands.
âWell one thing hasnât changed. You still know how to make an entranceâ he chides as Chibs finishes with my face. âYou want to tell me what brought all this down on your shouldersâ?
I glanced at Tig, who had been quiet since Chibs started tending to my wounds, then pointed down to my chest where Tigâs crow was in plain sight. âThey needed leverage, and I guess they thought it was meâ Â
Pic isn't mine!!Â
