Judigate: hinting that their interaction was drawing to an end with a “good night” instead of “have a good day”

YES! I think Luke has the perfect mix of socially awkward (see: his general aura) yet also unselfconscious (from a lifetime of being gassed up by / socially protected by virtue of his older brothers….remember that Noesen story about Jack canonically defending Luke in the locker room whenever Luke says something weird!!). 

He and Judi would constantly be swapping the role of straight man / funny man (all entirely without meaning to). I do believe he can out-awkward Judi’s awkward and slightly rude questioning. But somehow he would also roll with it in a way that only a youngest sibling of three can roll with things….unfazed king.
