the wording of "like a parasite" is interesting to me. a parasite wouldnt just kill its host, it would gain something from them. what would the nameless prince be gaining, beyond vaguely 'learning'? well. the world is called Mana. the oceans used to be incredibly densely magical (still are in comparison to the land, but used to be moreso). The tree that gives may and her family their power is dying and taking them all with it. what if it not only corrupts worlds, but drains their magic? making itself more powerful in the process?
