genuinely i get a little misty eyed thinking about the joyce spike hot chocolate scene in lovers walk because that scene like the entire episode makes me laugh so hard and then obviously really angry at the end for nonspike reasons but sometimes as an adult ive had some really hard days or gone through hard times not quite a breakup but something like it and spike had no emotional support system at the time aside from crying and moaning at empty rooms and people who can't even hear him so it actually makes me feel emotional that even though this monster, who is evil dont get me wrong, still quite obviously needed someone to genuinely listen to him and even though he keeps making people listen to his heartbroken woes over and over it's clear that he really did feel comforted in that scene and heard in a way that obviously stuck with him for a really long time and idk it makes me think about how kindness isn't a waste

thinking about Joyce Summers who struggled to relate to her daughter's lifestyle and character yet the one of the first things she's done in Band Candy after being freed from societal expectations was fucking British man who was in a particularly aggressive mood that night and with whom she was up to this point hostile unless it was for their mutual interest in her daughter's well-being
