Twâs :: Lady Whump, Blood Mention, Kidnapping (Kinda), Drunk Mention, a little bit of domestic abuse (I think?)Â
Notes :: Like before, criticism is allowed, so long as itâs constructive. I appreciate it actually. And let me know if Iâve missed any TWâs here! Iâm still not sure what all needs tagged, or whatâs un-necessary to tag, but better safe then sorry!Â
Previous Chapter / Next Chapter
Their relationship was going splendidly. Maine couldnât remember a time when she had been this happy. She had been dating Missouri for three months, and they spent whatever time they could with each other.Â
The first date had been somewhat awkward, and Maine had to admit that it had been her fault. They had gone to dinner, and he had invited her to his place for a drink. She said she didnât drink alcohol, and it seemed a bit soon for that.Â
He had laughed softly - he had the nicest laugh, Maine remembered thinking - and said âNo, no nothing of the sort. I was thinking more like tea. Or coffee. And I would very much like to hear you play your violin.âÂ
She had nodded, laughing at herself. âI would love to but itâs getting late, and Iâd have to go home and get my violin, and by that time-âÂ
Missouri cut her off. âI have a violin, and a music room. I even soundproofed it so I wouldnât bother the neighbors if I decided to play in the late hours. And to save them from me! I sound God awful when learning a new instrument.â Â
Maine had smiled, and run a hand through her hair, while thinking it out. âOkay... why not?âÂ
The rest of that night had gone wonderfully. Maine played a quick song, and then taught a few notes to Missouri, who couldnât play it. They had tea, and talked, and kissed once or twice. After a while, she felt tired and fell asleep on his couch.Â
The only odd thing was when she woke up she had a small cut on her arm, with dried blood around it.Â
Missouri was genuinely concerned, saying she must have nicked it on something. He helped her clean and bandage it.
And it was forgotten.Â
Back to present day. She was at his house, staring out the window. The snowfall outside was pretty, but it was falling concerning fast.Â
âIâm gonna stop by Caraâs place, and then go home, the snow is getting pretty deep,â She said to Missouri, turning away from the window. She grabbed her bag, and he pulled her into a kiss, his arms around her waist.Â
When he ended the kiss, he still didnât let her go. He looked down at her, kissing her forehead. âAre you sure you have to go...? Iâd much prefer it if you stayed.âÂ
âMmm.. it wouldnât be the worse thing if I got stuck here.â Maine smiled at him. âBut I did promise Cara, I havenât seen her since...â She counted on her fingers. â4 days ago. Tuesday.âÂ
âAre you sure? It doesnât seem safe out there, there could be ice on the road. And what if something happens and you canât call for help?â He brushed her hair carefully from her forehead, and she saw worry in his eyes. And also something else.Â
Maine had seen that look before, and still didnât know what it was. She saw it in arguments, before he slapped her. It had only happened twice, and instantly he had pulled her into his arms, saying he was sorry. Begging her to forgive him, it wonât happen again. He had let his anger get in the way, he would never hurt her.Â
And she loved him. So she had both times.Â
Now, she tried to ignore the look. âIf something happens, Iâll contact you right away. Iâll be fine, everything is going to be alright,â She said in a reassuring tone, smiling softly.Â
Silence for a moment. Then he held her tighter. Too tight. âNo, No, that wonât do. Youâll stay here, itâs safe here.âÂ
âMissouri? Love, youâre hurting me.â She said, stroking the side of his face. âEverything will be fine, donât worry.âÂ
âIâm sorry... But.â He sighed, âItâs for your own good.â He began to pull her, toward the music room.Â
Her heart skipped a beat, but not in the sweet Iâm-so-in-love way it usually was. This was fear. She knew it well after living with her drunk father for nine years. âMissouri. Stop it, I know your worried but that give you no right to pull me ar-âÂ
âI have every right, itâs for your own good and youâre mine.â
He had used the word âmineâ before. âMy Angelâ while peppering her forehead with kisses. âI canât believe your mine, all mine.â in a soft voice while she was falling asleep on his shoulder. But never had she heard it with such force.
Despite her protests, and attempts to pull away, she ended up in the music room anyway. He pushed some instruments aside, and they fell to the ground with a loud clatter, making Maine flinch. Something broke off one of them but Missouri didnât even seem to care. Behind were the instruments had been, there were... chains. She was so startled that she stop resisting for a second, and that second was all the time Missouri needed to clamp them around her wrists.Â
And then he let her go. She stared her hands, and the chains around them. Trying desperately to ignore the dark stain on them. Like they had been used before.Â
She looked back up at Missouri, and he carefully brushed tears from her face. She hadnât realized she had been crying. âItâs for your own good, I had hoped it wouldnât come to this.âÂ
He gathered the instruments, put them all in there respective cases, and stacked them up in the corner. Picked up the broken pieces and threw them away. Closed the blinds on the single window. and removed all other items from the room.Â
And then he left, and she heard the door lock. She sank to her knees.
Then suddenly - without the light from the window, the brightly color decorations, and him... this no longer felt like her safe place.Â
