Bio: Jovian is an Irken–Vortian hybrid and the son of Tallest Red and Eva, the second-oldest of his littermates. He’s the snappy one of the group and never hesitates to bare his teeth when provoked. Of all his siblings, Jovian carries the most insecurity about himself—much of it rooted in being born a hybrid and looked down upon by other species.

Like his siblings, he knows nothing about his father or his Irken heritage; whenever the topic comes up, Eva shuts it down with deflection or half-answers. Because of his Vortian blood, Jovian bears one of their most notable traits, the legs that make him stand out. He and his younger brother, who both appear more Irken than their siblings, are treated differently by the people of Neutra, who fear their Irken nature will eventually reveal itself.

Though he is the second-eldest, Jovian is often called “the runt of the litter” because of his small size. The reminder infuriates him, so as he grows, he works relentlessly to compensate, pushing himself physically and sharpening his talents. Jovian is the one who eventually discovers the truth about his father and the Irken Empire’s campaign for universal conquest. Convinced this means he was born for greatness, he begins training himself in secret at the age of ten.

Drawing on his Vortian ingenuity, he designs and builds his own weapons. He keeps all of this hidden, knowing his mother and siblings would condemn his actions. Life on Neutra has its ups and downs for him. He appreciates the planet’s peace and quiet, but he craves adventure and danger, often enough to be dragged home by the antenna by his worried mother. Eva scolds him more than any of his siblings. Jovian and his littermates eventually join Neutra’s education system, where they meet refugee children from other races.

School doesn’t interest Jovian much; when he learns that Irkens acquire knowledge through a visualizer device rather than study, he dives into Irken technology and discovers their greatest achievement, the PAK. Dropping to his knees, he begs Eva to recreate it for him and his siblings. After relentless pleading and strategic persuasion—particularly invoking Tallest Red, Eva reluctantly agrees and manages to reproduce it from copied blueprints she once acquired aboard the Massive. Jovian loves inventing, especially weapons, a trait that captures the attention of Neutra’s military leadership.

Impressed by his determination and combat drive, they allow him to join their training program and help refine his skills. One day, Jovian hopes to leave Neutra and explore the galaxy—perhaps even visit Irk but Eva warns him that hybrids are considered defective there. Concerned by the way his behavior leans toward his Irken nature, she keeps a closer eye on him. Jovian rarely acknowledges his Vortian heritage and avoids questions about what happened to his mother’s people. He spends much of his time alone, meditating, inventing behind a locked door, snacking, or pushing himself through grueling self-training. He wants to be the best, even if it tears him apart to get there.

(Relationships)

Eva: Jovian was a mama’s boy when he was young, often curling into her lap and squeaking for treats—especially cookies. As he grew more self-aware and hungry for answers about his origins, Eva tried to protect him by hiding the truth, but underestimated his cunning.

He hacked her personal tablet and uncovered not only the identity of his father, but the reality of the Irken Empire. Jovian openly admits he hates being a hybrid. Eva loves him deeply, but frequently scolds him for his defiance and backtalk. Though she initially refused his pleas to recreate a PAK, she gave in after relentless begging, managing to gather the materials and blueprints just in time. She fears he is becoming more Irken than anything else and she may be right.

Bellatrix: Bella is the one Jovian turns to when Eva isn’t available. They talk science, dreams, and their futures. She understands his desperation to prove himself and was there during one of his emotional breakdowns—something they agreed to keep secret. Unlike Jovian, Bella rejects the Irken Empire completely and often clashes with him.

Nixy: Where Jovian leans Irken, Nixy leans Vortian. They complement one another. One the mastermind, the other the databank. Jovian enjoys her company when he isn’t busy pushing himself to extremes.

Orieon: The biggest thorn in Jovian’s side. Taller despite being the youngest, Orieon’s eagerness to please others infuriates him. Their fights often center on Jovian’s obsession with Irken heritage. Ironically, Orieon’s opinion is the only one that truly gets through to him.

Tallest Red: Jovian idolizes him at least at first. Learning that his father leads the empire fills him with pride in his bloodline. When they finally meet, Red recognizes a hint of Zim in him and it unsettles him. Though they eventually grow closer, Jovian resents what feels like favoritism toward Orieon. Once, instinctively, Jovian called him “My Tallest,” something Red found amusing but also a habit Jovian must break.

Dib: Jovian meets Dib during a patrol and is fascinated by the fact that an Irken travels with a human. Curious and occasionally rude with his questions, he becomes intrigued by Earth and Dib’s stories. Dib and Zim later bring supplies to Jovian’s family, and though grateful, Jovian feels a twinge of jealousy toward Zim for having such a loyal friend.

Zim: Meeting another Irken changes everything. Zim greets him instinctively with hisses and Irken speech language Jovian later asks him to teach. Zim encourages him to do his best, while warning him not to follow in his own footsteps. When Red later reveals the truth about Zim’s past, it nearly shatters Jovian’s dreams of becoming a great soldier.

“What do you know about being different, Orieon? You and Bella are the spitting images of our parents! Me and Nixy are ugly!”


“Am I the ONLY one who wants to know more about our Irken heritage? Why ignore this?!”


“Would you still love me if I wasn’t a hybrid?”


“You’re telling me two Tallests died because of ONE Irken and he gets away with everything he’s done? That’s awesome. Zim is amazing.”


“Father, I looked up to you. I wanted to grow like you. I even BE you. But after what you said to Mom. I wish I’d never met you.”

Learning that Tallest Red is his father transforms his insecurity into burning ambition. He romanticizes the empire long before he understands its cruelty. Jovian avoids thinking about his Vortian heritage. Not out of shame, but pain, loss, exploitation, and tragedy.

A past Eva refuses to talk about. He convinces himself it’s irrelevant, even though his ingenuity, resilience, and compassion are inherited from that side. His refusal to acknowledge it creates a quiet emotional distance between him and his mother.

She sees the danger in his ambition because she once lived through its consequences. Her love is protective but suffocating and Jovian mistakes her fear for distrust. He loves her deeply, but resents the secrets, the silence the limits she places on him.

Bellatrix is the stabilizing force in his life. Jovian values her approval more than he admits. When she rejects the Irken Empire, it shakes him because if she believes it’s wrong…then what does that make him?

Nixy understands him intellectually, but not emotionally. Jovian respects her brilliance, yet envies the peace she seems to have with herself. Something he can’t comprehend.

Orieon, Their rivalry is layered. Bitterness mixed with reluctant dependence. Jovian hates that Orieon is taller, more openly accepted, and somehow still kind.

But Orieon is also the only sibling who can truly challenge him and the only one whose disappointment matters to him.

Tallest Red is both idol and a wound. Jovian wants his approval more than anything and every scrap of attention feels earned, not given. When he realizes his father fears seeing “another Zim” in him, it fractures his self-image. He stops wanting to become Tallest Red but still aches to be seen by him.

Zim is the mirror Jovian never expected. A warning wrapped inside admiration.Zim represents the cost of blind devotion, the loneliness of misplaced loyalty, a future Jovian might become. Where Red pushes him toward discipline,Zim forces him toward reflection. He desperately wants to be extraordinary.
