                                                Were you surprised the film had such a happy ending? «Yeah, but happily surprised. Because I'm a sucker for it. And so is Francis [Lee]. And actually, I very strongly believe that we should have more hope in film, and in art in general. And I think it's a real crying shame that we don't. And especially in queer cinema, where we very often have themes of depression, or sadness, or illness; or repression. And this was a film where we're not commenting on that, and we're commenting on hope. And in a time where politically and in society we're struggling to eke out any sort of remnants of hope it's quite nice, I think, to see that.»
