In a magical AU, Little, Irving, and Hodgson are apprentices to the magician Crozier. In this world, not everyone is allowed to practice magic, and not everyone who has access to it actually has any talent - for example, Little is a hopeless wizard who can’t even manage a simple card trick. At the same time, Jopson, while working as Crozier’s valet, has learned practically everything there is to know about magic, but since he isn’t allowed to practice it, he doesn’t even think about it. Still, he’s so exceptionally good at his job that both the apprentices and Crozier sometimes joke about whether he might be using magic to do everything so efficiently, quickly, and elegantly. Of course, no one, including Jopson himself, has any idea how true that actually is - his natural gift manifests on its own. Then, forgetting himself, he offers to help Little, having long known all the theory, and that’s when his remarkable abilities come to light. Since he isn’t allowed to use magic, he and Little strike a deal: Jopson will help him by performing magic on his behalf. But sooner or later, the truth is bound to come out…
