Introduction post
Hello !Ā
I realize itās been a long time Iām on Tumblr and Iāve never introduce myself properly to the english spoken population. Because itās never to late (and Iām keen on talking about myself for once) letās do this.Ā
My name is Marine, 23 yo (oooold), French (but not Parisian). I'm a Slytherin and INTJ.
I'm a 3rd year Physiotherapy Student and I did 3 years in Medschool. I'm also waiting (and doing everything I can) to have a PhD in neurosciences to do research.
I'm also very curious so there is a lot of topic that interest me.
I have been diagnosed with depression (and mood disorders) and struggled with it for half my life. I've taken meds, undergone therapy and saw a psychiatrist (which I still do) and it's getting better.
I play handball, practice a bit of yoga, music (piano and the guitar). I discovered my passion for making pastry one year ago and it's so cool. I love to read when I have some times.
I am bisexual and currently with my girlfriend for a few months now.
In this tumblr I share things about studying, mental health, about my personal life and my experiences during my rotations. Also inspo about life in general and study spaces (Iāve moved in a house with two roomates and in need of inspiration to make my bedroom my own.)
I really like following :
- @quilavastudyĀ and @joolshallieĀ bc theyāre inspiring me to pursue medecine (and I find it so nice that theyāre sisters!)
- @studyquill bc sheās full of advices/tips and kindness. (also Hermione inspo!) Her notes are so neat and pretty too!
- @howtoskewl bc Gilmore girl (even though you changed url)
- @dungeonstudy yey fellow slytherinĀ
- @study-like-its-hot bc I love to see her picture of Cambridge !
- and so much more. Thank you to be an inspiration for people ! :)Ā
so itās been a while... hello again everyone! university is definitely not what i expected it to be, i have somehow become a whole new person (in a good way), and am going out a lot more than i should be... oops. however: here are my notes for one of my super heavy content modules this term!
Alright hereās the deal. Iām in grade 10 and I need to get a 90 average I donāt know how to study, Iāve always just winged it and done great. But itās starting to pile on and itās affecting my grades. I have no motivation, but I know I want to be a doctor itās just what Iāve always wanted to do. But I donāt know how. All of my friends get 90s and Iām here not knowing what to do. Iām afraid everyone else is moving ahead while Iām stuck. Help please
Ok so,Ā
Youāve hit the barrier that we all, at one point or another reach - where we need to supplement our natural talent with discipline and work.Ā
And thatās ok! Thatās normal! This is not a crisis. This is real life!Ā
The best advice I can give you is to study smart. That means targeting your time/ effort to the things you are going to be examined on. This starts with looking over your course syllabus (or what topics youāve covered in class), and becoming familiar with the structure of your exams.Ā
and then leaving the rest to one side.Ā
So what does studying smart mean?
Hereās some other resources that might help:Ā
Studying smart, not hard (specifically for semester finals)

What to do after getting a shit gradeĀ
Time ManagementĀ
If youāre feeling overwhelmed, that may also be a time management issue. Now, weāve all got the same number of hours in a day - itās howĀ we choose to spend them that makes the difference.Ā

On being a doctorĀ
Itās great that you know that you want to be a doctor. I think a good way to motivate yourself is to ask whyĀ you want to be a doctor. Not only for short-term motivation, but for long term motivation.Ā
This is important because the road to being a doctor (and a lot of ātraditionalā professions) is much longer than just ācompleting high school and completing med schoolā. A lot of students donāt realise that it takes, in some instances, decades of hard work.Ā
Not to mention the financial, emotional and mental sacrifices that you will need to make.Ā
A good way to make an informed decision about your career choices is to ask people who are already in the field and people who are studyingĀ medicine. To that end Iād recommend:Ā
@studydiaryofamedstudentĀ
@dxmedicalstudent (FAVOURITE. seriously.)Ā
@verymedicalĀ
@medicalstate (no longer active, but his posts were always a deep dive into practice, amongst other things)Ā
On feeling left behind
Hereās the thing.
Youāre not.Ā
You are not falling behind.Ā
I understand why it feels that way. High school is a pressure cooker. For your entire academic life to date, youāve been working in this competitive environment. Where success feels like a zero sum game.Ā
Itās not.Ā
You have your own route to success. The battles you win, the results you receive, the progress you achieve - the value of these things are not diminished just becauseĀ āyour friends are doing better.ā
Its natural to judge your performance against everyone else. What they got for an exam, how much they wrote, what answers they got, how they solved a problem. Donāt give too much weight to what people say theyāve done. In the end you can only control your own performance.
You donāt need +90 toĀ āmove ahead in lifeā.Ā
Just because someone does it first, whether it be graduating high school, graduating uni, getting a job first, getting their first kiss, going on a first date - all theseĀ ācoming of age markersā - doesnāt mean that you wonāt get to achieve them yourself.Ā
But if you feel like youāre falling behind, and you use that feeling to stop yourself from working, then you will be holding yourself back from success.Ā
So, stop focussing on theĀ āraceā. Instead, look to where youāre running to. And where you final destination is.Ā Ā
Highly recommend reading these wise words fromĀ @niuniente.Ā
And if youāre feeling stuck? Reach out for help.Ā
All the best anon.Ā
After a good 2 years of tumblr fomo this African girl (whoās so excited to be spending December holidays in Canada) VISITED MUJI FOR THE FIRST TIME ššāØšš¤š½š¾ (Can someone also celebrate with me?šš) . In as much as owning muji and mildliners shouldnāt define your studies, in a tumblr/studyblr sense I couldnāt be more excited and looking forward to next years studies with these šø

hey guys! would really like to branch out in the studyblr community, so if you could hit the reblog button, that would be fab!
my names hollie, iām 19 and i live in somerset, england. after 5 years of struggling with anorexia, depression, anxiety and, more recently, borderline personality disorder, iām now studying for my a levels through self/home study. iāve spent the last few years in and out of hospital, with two brief admissions to an acute psychiatric ward. due to all of this, keeping on track with my education has proved to be hard, which is why i really love the studyblr community. my inbox is always open if anyone wants a chat!
Be honest - are you at all jealous of your sisters success?
Iām not sure what youāre referring to here - whether she got better grades than me, or if youāre assuming she got into aĀ ābetterā med school than me, or if I should just be jealous because sheās done as well as me, or whatever.
But regardless, the answer is no. Firstly, itās not like weāre drastically different at all - weāre both A/A* students, we both work hard, and we both got into medical school. If I was just bumbling about achieving nothing, then yes I would probably be jealous, but seeing as I have and Iām actually further on than she is (due to being older haha), thereās not much competition there. After all, I still get to become a doctor first ;)Ā
Like yeah there are some areas where sheās more successful than me. I do think she has a stronger work ethic than me, and sheās been far more consistent in grades than I have been. Sheās never had to retake anything, whereas I have. She got more A*s at GCSE and A level, and she got one more offer for med school than I did. If I was a super competitive person maybe this would bother me, but Iām not, and weāve both got to be where we wanted to be so I just donāt see how it matters. Plus sheās often said to me that I helped inspire her to work so hard, so thatās freaking cute.Ā
And if you mean Iād be jealous because sheās done as well as me and therefore taking away my thunder because now Iām not the only one doing medicine and all that - again nah, because Iām not competitive like that. Iām just actually so proud that she got in, because she really deserved it! And now itās so cool that weāll be able to chat about medicine stuff together. Aināt that right @joolshallie? x
