Introduction post
Hello !Â
I realize itâs been a long time Iâm on Tumblr and Iâve never introduce myself properly to the english spoken population. Because itâs never to late (and Iâm keen on talking about myself for once) letâs do this.Â
My name is Marine, 23 yo (oooold), French (but not Parisian). I'm a Slytherin and INTJ.
I'm a 3rd year Physiotherapy Student and I did 3 years in Medschool. I'm also waiting (and doing everything I can) to have a PhD in neurosciences to do research.
I'm also very curious so there is a lot of topic that interest me.
I have been diagnosed with depression (and mood disorders) and struggled with it for half my life. I've taken meds, undergone therapy and saw a psychiatrist (which I still do) and it's getting better.
I play handball, practice a bit of yoga, music (piano and the guitar). I discovered my passion for making pastry one year ago and it's so cool. I love to read when I have some times.
I am bisexual and currently with my girlfriend for a few months now.
In this tumblr I share things about studying, mental health, about my personal life and my experiences during my rotations. Also inspo about life in general and study spaces (Iâve moved in a house with two roomates and in need of inspiration to make my bedroom my own.)
I really like following :
- @quilavastudy and @joolshallie bc theyâre inspiring me to pursue medecine (and I find it so nice that theyâre sisters!)
- @studyquill bc sheâs full of advices/tips and kindness. (also Hermione inspo!) Her notes are so neat and pretty too!
- @howtoskewl bc Gilmore girl (even though you changed url)
- @dungeonstudy yey fellow slytherinÂ
- @study-like-its-hot bc I love to see her picture of Cambridge !
- and so much more. Thank you to be an inspiration for people ! :)Â
so itâs been a while... hello again everyone! university is definitely not what i expected it to be, i have somehow become a whole new person (in a good way), and am going out a lot more than i should be... oops. however: here are my notes for one of my super heavy content modules this term!
Alright hereâs the deal. Iâm in grade 10 and I need to get a 90 average I donât know how to study, Iâve always just winged it and done great. But itâs starting to pile on and itâs affecting my grades. I have no motivation, but I know I want to be a doctor itâs just what Iâve always wanted to do. But I donât know how. All of my friends get 90s and Iâm here not knowing what to do. Iâm afraid everyone else is moving ahead while Iâm stuck. Help please
Ok so,Â
Youâve hit the barrier that we all, at one point or another reach - where we need to supplement our natural talent with discipline and work.Â
And thatâs ok! Thatâs normal! This is not a crisis. This is real life!Â
The best advice I can give you is to study smart. That means targeting your time/ effort to the things you are going to be examined on. This starts with looking over your course syllabus (or what topics youâve covered in class), and becoming familiar with the structure of your exams.Â
and then leaving the rest to one side.Â
So what does studying smart mean?
Hereâs some other resources that might help:Â

Time ManagementÂ
If youâre feeling overwhelmed, that may also be a time management issue. Now, weâve all got the same number of hours in a day - itâs how we choose to spend them that makes the difference.Â

On being a doctorÂ
Itâs great that you know that you want to be a doctor. I think a good way to motivate yourself is to ask why you want to be a doctor. Not only for short-term motivation, but for long term motivation.Â
This is important because the road to being a doctor (and a lot of âtraditionalâ professions) is much longer than just âcompleting high school and completing med schoolâ. A lot of students donât realise that it takes, in some instances, decades of hard work.Â
Not to mention the financial, emotional and mental sacrifices that you will need to make.Â
A good way to make an informed decision about your career choices is to ask people who are already in the field and people who are studying medicine. To that end Iâd recommend:Â
@studydiaryofamedstudentÂ
@dxmedicalstudent (FAVOURITE. seriously.)Â
@verymedicalÂ
@medicalstate (no longer active, but his posts were always a deep dive into practice, amongst other things)Â
On feeling left behind
Hereâs the thing.
Youâre not.Â
You are not falling behind.Â
I understand why it feels that way. High school is a pressure cooker. For your entire academic life to date, youâve been working in this competitive environment. Where success feels like a zero sum game.Â
Itâs not.Â
You have your own route to success. The battles you win, the results you receive, the progress you achieve - the value of these things are not diminished just because âyour friends are doing better.â
Its natural to judge your performance against everyone else. What they got for an exam, how much they wrote, what answers they got, how they solved a problem. Donât give too much weight to what people say theyâve done. In the end you can only control your own performance.
You donât need +90 to âmove ahead in lifeâ.Â
Just because someone does it first, whether it be graduating high school, graduating uni, getting a job first, getting their first kiss, going on a first date - all these âcoming of age markersâ - doesnât mean that you wonât get to achieve them yourself.Â
But if you feel like youâre falling behind, and you use that feeling to stop yourself from working, then you will be holding yourself back from success.Â
So, stop focussing on the âraceâ. Instead, look to where youâre running to. And where you final destination is. Â
Highly recommend reading these wise words from @niuniente.Â
And if youâre feeling stuck? Reach out for help.Â
All the best anon.Â
After a good 2 years of tumblr fomo this African girl (whoâs so excited to be spending December holidays in Canada) VISITED MUJI FOR THE FIRST TIME đđâ¨đđ¤đ˝đž (Can someone also celebrate with me?đđ) . In as much as owning muji and mildliners shouldnât define your studies, in a tumblr/studyblr sense I couldnât be more excited and looking forward to next years studies with these đ¸

21/09/2017 :: Economics homework.
hey guys! would really like to branch out in the studyblr community, so if you could hit the reblog button, that would be fab!
my names hollie, iâm 19 and i live in somerset, england. after 5 years of struggling with anorexia, depression, anxiety and, more recently, borderline personality disorder, iâm now studying for my a levels through self/home study. iâve spent the last few years in and out of hospital, with two brief admissions to an acute psychiatric ward. due to all of this, keeping on track with my education has proved to be hard, which is why i really love the studyblr community. my inbox is always open if anyone wants a chat!
Be honest - are you at all jealous of your sisters success?
Iâm not sure what youâre referring to here - whether she got better grades than me, or if youâre assuming she got into a âbetterâ med school than me, or if I should just be jealous because sheâs done as well as me, or whatever.
But regardless, the answer is no. Firstly, itâs not like weâre drastically different at all - weâre both A/A* students, we both work hard, and we both got into medical school. If I was just bumbling about achieving nothing, then yes I would probably be jealous, but seeing as I have and Iâm actually further on than she is (due to being older haha), thereâs not much competition there. After all, I still get to become a doctor first ;)Â
Like yeah there are some areas where sheâs more successful than me. I do think she has a stronger work ethic than me, and sheâs been far more consistent in grades than I have been. Sheâs never had to retake anything, whereas I have. She got more A*s at GCSE and A level, and she got one more offer for med school than I did. If I was a super competitive person maybe this would bother me, but Iâm not, and weâve both got to be where we wanted to be so I just donât see how it matters. Plus sheâs often said to me that I helped inspire her to work so hard, so thatâs freaking cute.Â
And if you mean Iâd be jealous because sheâs done as well as me and therefore taking away my thunder because now Iâm not the only one doing medicine and all that - again nah, because Iâm not competitive like that. Iâm just actually so proud that she got in, because she really deserved it! And now itâs so cool that weâll be able to chat about medicine stuff together. Ainât that right @joolshallie? x
