June! Arguably the best month of the year for music. I have to say I always look forward to June for a great number of new music discoveries, as much as I look forward to August for blackberry picking and February for the Academy Awards, not to mention the Abbotsford spring which takes place over a period of 3 days in early April. So, let's get into it...
The Peak Performance Project long list was announced this week, and the pretty decent list of nominations includes Behind Sapphire, 41st & Home, The Oh Wells, and The Never Surprise. Check out the full list here.
Also announced this week was the Shore 104.3 Song Search, featuring some great names in the Vancouver folk music scene. Their short list is here.
And coming up soon is the Polaris Music Prize long list- a fine summary of all the great Canadian albums of this past year. Hit up their main page here on June 16th to get the full list.
Finally if you are one of those people who goes crazy about music festivals (which I would be if I was actually planning to travel this spring) you can check out the extensive list of festivals happening throughout Canada in the spring/summer right here.
