He wants it to stop.
Every movement makes his muscles scream in protest. Every step, every breath, every slight move sends fire burning through his entire body. His lungs ache, barely holding in each breath he chokes down before forcing it out. An erratic rhythm stabs into his head as his feet pound against concrete, legs aching and burning and begging him to slow down, to stop and breathe until he doesn't stumble on each step, the pain threatening to send him plummeting face first into the ground at the first mistake he makes.
He wants to stop, to stop running, to catch his breath and calm his racing heart and breathe until his head stops pounding.
But he can't.
They all thought Team Rocket wouldn't be a problem any longer. With Giovanni back in control after the events with Arceus, there were no signs that they were still active in the ways they had been. They had all let their guards down, believing that one of their oldest enemies was no longer a threat.
They should have known it was a false sense of security.
Pre-relationship Johtoshipping is at it's absolute best when it has all 3 of them struggling with the same conflict of thinking the other two are in love with each other but not them.
Except Gold and Crystal realize that they're in love with the other two and are struggling to hide their crushes while thinking that the other two will end up dating at some point, while Silver's sitting off to the side like, "My best friends :) My best friends that I love so much and would love to be with for the rest of my life, but they're in love with each other, so they get to be together like that.... is this a crush? Do I have a crush on both of them? No. That can't be it... I think?"

going on the system blog bc we need to use it more but i've been really struggling with my plurality? we're by nature very spiritually inclined when it comes to personal beliefs. this doesn't always mesh well with being a system, especially when you take into account how alters form, what exomemories/pseudomemories/source-memories(note: we really dislike the term pseudomemories. Its only here so ppl know what we're referring to) symbolize, etc. But even with all of that. I feel each and every one of us in this system has a separate soul. Sure, we may all be parts of one whole, but we're also us? By and large we don't seek final fusion, we want functional multiplicity. If an alter wants to integrate/fuse with someone so be it, but as a whole we're still plural, we're still multiple. I can't really fathom a life without the others. and because of that, because of the fact we generally enjoy eachother's company, I can't help but worry and fear that maybe we made this all up. We were always very imaginative as a kid, and always had fictional characters comforting us to help us sleep. We could talk to them, feel their presence, etc.
we're also decently fictive heavy. Not as much as we used to be back when we were undergoing our syscovery and thought every single fragment was a full fledged alter, but enough that the thoughts of "oh god what if im just one of those tiktok fakers" creeps into my head. Especially since our fictives like dressing like our source-selves, and the ones that we didn't initally realize were fictives and mistook for kintypes were the ones we cosplayed the most as a kid. part of me feels like, because i'm not constantly suffering at the hands of my plurality, i'm faking. Because we switch between singular and plural pronouns, we're faking. Because sometimes we blur and dont always realize alters are around until they actively make themselves known, we're faking. Basically if we're not ashamed, we're faking. That's what it feels like, and why we're so scared to unmask around people who don't know much about systems or are just generally singlets. All they can do is stare, faces full of shock and confusion, like they've all just seen a ghost. Eyes dart from face to face, double, then triple-checking to ensure they're seeing things correctly. Gold takes a step forward, prompting both of them to step back. Crystal's eyes hover for too long on Gold, only to fall on Silver, and have the relief in her gaze fade into pure conflict. Silver backpedals until he hits the wall, and they swear he never blinks as his eyes flicker between them fast enough that they have to wonder whether he's actually looking at them.
Gold, like always, is the first one to speak up. "You two are supposed to be dead."
This isn't right. None of them are supposed to be here. And none of them are supposed to be standing in the same room at the same time. The last time they did was years ago, before they were torn apart by misfortune after misfortune.
No matter how much they want it to be right, they have to accept that it isn't, and they need to find their way back to their own worlds.
