So it occurred to me that locking my story as much as I did (thanks AI scrapers -_-) on AO3 means that not a lot of peeps can read this story. So I'll post a mirror here on tungle.hell too. Hope you guys enjoy it.
(title is temporary don't pay much attention to it)
Rupert was slowly rising up in the ranks as a witch hunter at the Wall, a complex for holding the most notorious and dangerous witches and wizards. However, after meeting Dave Panpa, his life begins to change drastically, but he can't tell if it's for the worst or for the better.
All he knows is that it makes him start to question his reasons for being a witch hunter in the first place. And he begins to realize something about himself that he didn't even know until now...
------
There's a lot of heavy inspiration from Puella Magic Madoka Magica in this fan fic so if most of this sounds a bit familiar than uh... bingo hehe. This is something that has been rotating in my head for a while now and while I would love to start somewhere else, here felt like the best starting point. Hopefully it'll all make sense as the story goes on. Tags are pretty much as much as I can give, but if there are any other triggers that you feel need to be tagged than let me know. Otherwise I hope you enjoy this story.
Sidenote, highly recommend you at least pull up the PMMM OST up on whatever listening device you can muster and at least take a listen with some of it. It was kinda written with it in mind, but whatever you think works best for which part is up to you. Around the part where Dave is in the forest (you'll know it when you get to it) is when I would play the song Gradus Prohibitus.
Rupert stood in front of his locker, letting out a sigh as he took off his witch hunters uniform hat, placing it in his locker as he tried to collect his thoughts.
When he joined the witch hunters, he did quick work to rise up in the ranks and become a great witch hunter. It was shocking that he did so, considering how passionate he was about it. From taking down witches to hunting down wizards, he was slowly rising to become a top witch hunter, being able to go on special missions soon enough.
He even got praise from Dmitri Petrov, the head administrator of the witch hunters organization in their town. Many of the towns in the surrounding area didnât have to deal with the terror of witches since than. However, all that changed a few months ago when he was assigned to train a new recruit in the witch hunters, an individual by the name of Dave.
It was predicted that in about a month, Dave would be ready to actually go on his first witch hunts, however that day was suddenly not even within reach. He was skittish, flighty, nervous all the time. He jumped at the slightest of noises and his fight or flight was severely hindered. Not only that but every chance he got, he would talk Rupertâs ear off, like they were friends or something.
Ever since Dave got recruited, it was like he was his full time babysitter, always having to make sure he didnât get into any trouble. Even the other witch hunters would sometimes give him looks as he had to help Dave escort a particularly feisty witch into the hold for questioning.
At least there was one person who was willing to get along with himâŠ
âFinally done for the day?â Rupert felt a familiar hand pat his head and he turned to see Johnny, all smiles as he motioned for him to follow him. He closed his locker as he did, Johnny talking about some of the more high security stuff he had to go through on a regular basis. Honestly, it was just the same old crap he usually talked about, but for some reason, Rupert didnât mind letting him talk his ear off either as he followed him to his car so they could have a beer or two for the night.
âI swear, that Davey gets more and more concerning,â Johnny muttered as he started his car.
âHeâs only been with us for a few months now. Heâs just getting used to things,â Rupert said, wondering why he was even defending him to begin with. After all, he only saw him as a nuisance more than anything.
âYou were pretty much a fighter by the time your first month ended. He can barely hold his pitchfork without crying a little. Heâs a wimp, I tell ya!â Johnny said with a laugh. Rupert laughed nervously back, but felt a little bad. It didnât really matter because itâs not like Dave was here to defend himself. So who cared what he had to say.
As they drove off into the town, Rupert saw all the familiar lights of the shops and restaurants, seeing all the people as they walked to their destinations, probably home or late night jobs. Rupert gazed at Johnny as he suddenly realized something.
âHey⊠how are we gonna get home? Youâre driving,â Rupert asked.
âWeâll just take a cab back to the complex. Itâll be fine!â Johnny said with a bit too much confidence. Rupert smirked.
âMr. Petrov is gonna kill you,â Rupert muttered.
âIâm one his best hunters. Itâs gonna take a lot more than me leaving a company car at the bar to do that,â Johnny said.
âRemember the last time you did it though? It took the rookies forever to scrub all that graffiti off it,â Rupert said, âAnd I think some of it was charmed tooâŠâ
âAnd thatâs whose fault? The witches. I swear, theyâre a plague on our society. Thatâs why we have to get rid of them, Rupert. For our sake and theirs as well. Wizards too. Well, except for Petrov and Grigori. I guess they can stick around since theyâre helping us with our weapons and allâŠâ Johnny rambled on as they pulled up to the particular bar, Rupert letting out a half hearted chuckle as he got out of the car.
âWell donât be shocked if he makes you do it this time,â Rupert said. Johnny rolled his eyes as they walked towards the bar.

Dave was sitting in his dorm room, his eyes red with tears. Once again, his superior officer had gotten onto him about something that he had no control over: his emotions. Well, that wasnât entirely true, he could control his emotions just fine.
It was just sometimes they tended to flare up at the worst and most inconvenient moments. And than he would end up letting these emotions get the best of him. And as a result he would do poorly.
He groaned as he put his head into his pillow. He couldnât do anything right.
He couldnât do magic.
He couldnât be a police officer.
He couldnât even work security part time at the museum without the diamond getting stolen by some magic user.
And now he couldnât even be a witch hunter.
âWhat even is my purposeâŠâ Dave muttered as he started to shake. He remembered the look of disappointment in his superiorâs eyes as he remembered his cold words:
âThis kind of thing is exactly why you will never be on a witch hunt.â
What good was a witch hunter who couldnât hunt? All he did was odd jobs around the facility and such. There was really no reason for him to be here. Even Rupert, his mentor of sorts, had lost all sympathy for him. He didnât know it, but he could feel it.
At this point, he didnât know what to do. He had to do something, anything. If he could do something, than he would be able to show everyone that he was just as capable. Not just as a witch hunter, but as somebody.
He would need to get some rest though. He wouldnât be able to be a decent witch hunter if he was tired. He didnât even get to eat dinner as was too busy being lectured. He was used to this feeling though. He ended up drifting to sleep, feeling the hole in his stomach grow a little larger.
- - - - -
Rupert felt the ringing in his ears growing louder as he rose up out of bed, wincing at the pain. He could use a few more hours of sleep, but he couldnât exactly waste any time. There was work to do after all.
He went through his morning routine, adding taking a healthy dosage of pain killers to the list as he waltzed out of his room to get some breakfast.
âMorning Rupert.â
Ah geezâŠ
âMorning Dave,â Rupert muttered, his headache still ringing in his head as Dave matched his pace to walk with him to the cafeteria.
âIâm guessing you went drinking last night? I mean I wouldnât know I donât usually get invited to those kinds of things. It would be kind of nice but⊠I uh⊠yeah,â Dave trailed off as he saw the look in Rupertâs eyes, a ânot todayâ sort of look. He was pretty quiet as he walked with Rupert in the hall to the elevator, which made things feel a little more awkward.
âSo, uh⊠Have you heard the news? Apparently theyâre gonna try to send another group out to Stickburg today.â
âStickburg?â
âMhmâŠâ Dave said, âI wish I could go out there⊠Maybe I could catch a witch or two.â
âYou wouldnât want to,â Rupert said, âStickburg is a place where only the most decorated witch hunters go. And even than, some donât even make it back.â
âHuh? How come?â
âItâs dangerous.â Rupert walked into the cafeteria as Dave followed him closely.
Like a lost puppy, huh?
âHow dangerous? Like super dangerous?â
âVery dangerous. Very few witch hunters make it out alive. And those that do basically warn everyone not to go out there,â Rupert said as he ordered his food.
âWhy?â
Why he asksâŠ
âItâs a witch haven. Basically a bunch of magic users live there. More than any witch hunter can handle. There are several witches, some working overtime to protect the town,â Rupert said.
âWhy are we sending people out there to begin with than? If itâs so dangerous we should probably steer clear,â Dave said.
âApparently there were rumors of disappearances at the edge of Baker Forest. It shouldnât be too hard to take down one witch that causing all of them, so theyâre probably sending a squad out to check things out and take them down.â
As Rupert checked his phone to confirm the rumors, Dave let out a small sigh as he twiddled his fingers, as if he was pondering what to say next. Than his eyes lit up a bit as Johnny approached the duo.
âThan why donât we just send a bunch of people to Stickburg to you know⊠take them out? I mean after all, if the witches and wizards are bad guys, than we should take care of them you know?â Dave asked.
âBecause the universe exists in a balance little Davey,â Johnny said, suddenly cutting in, âIf we were to do that, than there wouldnât be much of a point to our job. And besides, even if we could, weâd suffer too many casualties.â
âWell, Mr. Petrov and all the big witch hunters, theyâre powerful wizards. Maybe they could help,â Dave said.
âThey can only do so much,â Rupert said as they sat down.
âThe point is thereâs no point in sending hundreds of people to a place where they might get hurt. Or worseâŠâ Johnny had a sort of distant look on his face as he said that. Dave had that same look, a strange fire in his eyes as Rupert began to browse his work app to see what duties he had today. There was apparently a witch spotted in the south ward of town, but otherwise things seemed pretty quiet today.
âAre you going out to Stickburg, Johnny?â Dave asked.
âNah, I donât have a death wish. Itâd take something really drastic to get me out there,â Johnny said.
âHmm,â Rupert said, âWell Iâm going on a hunt. It looks to be solo, but I wouldnât be shocked if they sent someone with me.â
âAh, thatâs good,â Dave said, âIâm glad you have something to do today. Iâm⊠stuck doing laundry again, hahaâŠâ Dave got a thoughtful look on his face as he said this. Rupert tipped his head to the side, wondering what Dave was thinking about.
He felt like he had no reason to really worry.
- - - - -
A quiet settled over the forest outside of Stickburg. Crows started to caw over the distance as the witch hunter group descended deeper into the forest. The group was quiet as they drew their weapons, keeping even their breath quiet as they scanned the trees for any sign of movement.
Meanwhile in the van nearby, Dave was sitting in the back, holding the magic knife he had managed to sneak out of the armory close to his chest. This was going to be his big moment. He was tired of being considered a nobody, not able to do anything. He would sneak out there as soon as the group was far enough and capture a witch all on his own, all by himself.
Than they would finally take him seriously.
He pulled himself out from the back from under the sheets he had hidden himself under and snuck around the other side of the van, glancing as he saw the group heading deeper into the forest. He didnât have much confidence, but he had to proceed carefully. He could explain himself once he managed to capture a witch.
He started to head into the forest, hearing the distant caws of the crows growing closer and closer. Almost as if they were following himâŠ
He jumped as he heard a noise nearby, a chill going down his spine as he suddenly noticed that the forest was much darker than he had initially realized. He gulped as he kept going, hearing the crows cawing louder and louder as his heart raced.
âHello⊠witch hunterâŠâ Dave jumped as he pointed his knife at the voice. He gasped, trying to believe what he was seeing.
Who he saw was⊠human right? It had to be a witch. The crows were following him. He looked almost like a scarecrow, a jack-o-lantern type head with heterochromatic flaming pupils, fluffy but well kept hair on top of his head covered by a witches hat, an orange headset perched over his ears(?).
Dave, in an attempt to appear threatening, pulled the knife up, trying to grimace as the⊠scarecrow witch? Giggled at him.
âOooh, so scary⊠what are you going to do with that little thing hmm?â he said as he approached him.
âS-stay back! Iâm gonna capture you and bring you back to the Wall as a trophy!â Dave shouted. The witch laughed as the crows seemed to laugh with him. He suddenly crept closer and closer as he practically got into Daveâs face. He shook with fear as he whispered.
âYou and what army, little guy?â Dave tried to lunge the knife at him but suddenly felt cold all over as he was blasted back.
âYou should have stayed home and hid away, witch hunter. Now youâll feel the chill of the winter scarecrow, Burt Curtis!â Dave pulled himself up and tried to run away as he saw dozens of ice spikes creeping closer to him.
He managed to stop short as a huge ice spike shot up in front of him. He cried out, keeping the grip on his knife as he looked up to see Burt hovering over him, smirking as he snapped his fingers, creating a cage of ice around him.
âI said stay back!â Dave shouted.
âI can get as close as I want, witch hunter. You may have had us fooled with your little friends in the forest, but I can assure you that this will be as far as you go,â Burt said. Dave gripped the knife in his hand as he slashed at the cage, looking shocked as he saw how easily it fell apart against itâs blade. Immediately, Dave saw his opportunity and ran off as Burt growled.
âA charmed weapon. Of courseâŠâ He put his fingers in his mouth and whistled sharply as the crows began to caw, flying towards the direction Dave went.
âGet him! Make sure he doesnât escape!â Burt shouted as a murder of crows started to follow after him. Burt stood back, feeling pretty pleased with himself as suddenly the world around him shifted.
A labyrinth of colors and sound began to form around him as he suddenly whistled for his crow familiars.
âCome back, come back!â Burt shouted as he suddenly saw himself surrounded by a different kind of familiar.
âSeriously!? Now!? Of all times!?â He summoned an ice hammer as he began to hammer away at the human like entities, looking to where Dave ran.
âIâm never one to run away from a hunt, but⊠unfortunately, I canât be bothered with the witch hunters. Let the Wicked eat a few,â Burt summoned a door nearby as he ran through it, punting a few familiars along the way.
Meanwhile Dave started to look around as he suddenly realized he was no longer in the forest.
âWhat⊠where am I? Whereâs the van? Whatâs going on!?â Dave shouted as he swung his knife at one of the strange entities pursuing him.
He heard a strange voice as he turned around trying to understand what was happening.
âHello!? Somebody!?â Dave shouted as he burst through a random door. He gasped as he tried to cover his mouth to keep from throwing up. A gory scene of three of the witch hunters from the group torn to shreds, blood dripping from the ceiling, covering the floor as it pooled towards his shoes.
It wasnât long before he turned around to see a monster of gigantic proportions in front of him, waving itâs limbs at him as he froze in place, suddenly to afraid to run.
You⊠who⊠seek⊠powerâŠ
âNoâŠâ
I⊠can⊠giveâŠ
âPleaseâŠâ Dave felt prickly as his vision became blurry. He was unable to move as his mind began to grow fuzzier and fuzzier.
Someone help me.
- - - - -
Burt finally managed to take a breath as he reached the much less dense outer forest, looking to see the witch hunters van parked outside of it and chuckling slightly. The crows began to perch on it, talking among themselves as Burt opened the car door.
âHmm⊠letâs see. A squad of five people hm⊠thatâs strange. I killed one guy and I can assume the others got swallowed by the Wicked⊠that means that the other one was just a surprise straggler. Interesting, very interestingâŠâ Burt tapped his headset, a dial coming out as he began to adjust it.
Finally after some adjusting he heard a voice in his headset.
âBurt? What the heck do you need?â
âHey Chuck, are you and your little friends busy right now?â
âI thought I told you not to call me that!â
âGeez, Iâm just playing around. We actually have a small situation outside of the north side of Baker Forest here. Do you think you could get your little squad out here to help out?â
âAh, well, weâre not gonna be done for another few hours or so, but weâll try to make it.â
âAh, well thatâs just great. Whatever, Iâll keep watch until you guys get here. Iâll use a beacon if I have to.â
Burt looked up and saw the trees growing slightly distorted as he sighed.
âAlso be careful. Thereâs a Wicked in the areaâŠâ
- - - - -
âHeâs been gone since lunch time?â
Rupert had decided to go looking for Dave, thinking that he could use some company after his (very unsuccessful) hunt. And Johnny was busy at the time, so he didnât want to bother him at them moment. He was now talking to Roland Cantebury, the supervisor in charge of Daveâs group.
âYeah. He was supposed to help two other rookies with the laundry earlier. According to them, they said he went to get some more bed sheets and has been gone since than.â
Rupert got a puzzled look on his face, knowing that something was definitely up. Usually people donât go to pick up extra laundry. Any extra laundry that isnât taken care of before the rookies start on it is usually taken care of in the next batch.
So something was wrong.
âThis doesnât seem right. Iâll go ask around and see if anyone else saw him while he was going on this little errandâŠâ Rupert said.
âGeez, you donât have to worry about him. Heâs not some baby, Iâm pretty sure he just got lost and is now in the closet crying or something,â Roland said, âJust donât worry about it. Iâll give him a good scolding when he eventually gets out of there.â Rupert raised his eyebrow, but nodded his head as he turned to the group of rookies to give them their afternoon tasks.
Something was bothering him about this.
He decided to go to the laundry room first to investigate this. He tried to think about the conversation that he had with Dave this morning at breakfast.
âI wish I could go out there⊠Maybe I could catch a witch or two.â
âDonât tell meâŠâ Rupert muttered as he started down the hall. The laundry center was two floors away from the armory, the place where they kept all the weapons for witch hunts. No one was really allowed in there without special permission, but how did Dave get past them? Even if he managed to find someone who was going on that floor, they would have noticed him long before he even took the first steps on the floor.
He took the elevator up and walked around, questioning a couple of individuals. One individual, by the name of Kev Portly, had said he had seen Dave walking around up there, but didnât think much of it, thinking he finally grew a spine and was able to join a witch hunt.
He had gone into one of the small arms closets and exited with a knife.
Oh noâŠ
Rupert was suddenly on his phone, texting Johnny to meet up with him in one of the lounges, as he had something very important to tell him.
While he didnât know how on EARTH he managed to sneak aboard the van undetected, it was very clear that he was now in grave danger.
That van was headed towards Stickburg, the witch haven. And he had to get somebody, anybody to back him up while he went out there. At least to help him get out of there safe.
When he finally got to the lounge, Johnny was there waiting, a grim look on his face as Rupert entered.
âHey, Rup. Whatâs going on?â Johnny asked.
âJohnny, we need to get one of the company cars and head to Stickburg NOW!â Johnny was taken aback as he tipped his head to the side.
âWhy? I would love to, but Mr. Petrov found out about last night and well⊠now Iâm banned from taking any cars out for the next month. I mean, you could drive, but I donât think we should-â
âI donât know how, but Dave managed to sneak out of the complex with a weapon, a very minuscule one at that, and managed to hitch a ride on the outgoing van out to Stickburg. I donât care if we need to get permission or something we need to get out there and save him or something, because-â
âWhy do you care?â
Rupert was suddenly taken aback now, jumping at the coldness in Johnnyâs tone as he said this.
âExcuse me?â
âI said why do you care? All youâve done is complain about him ever since he got here. You said heâs always following you like a lost puppy. And heâs always rambling and rambling, never getting to any points. Heâs ultimately useless in everything he does and he acts like a child at any given moment. Why do you care what happens to him?â
Rupertâs eye slightly twitched as he tried to think of a good reason. And for some reasonâŠ
Managed to find a lot more.
Maybe it was because he knew how scared he would be facing up against an actual real witch.
Maybe itâs because he knew how Dave acted under pressure and wanted to be there to assure him.
Maybe itâs because he wanted to make sure he was safe, despite everything.
He had his complaints, he sometimes griped at him, but in all honesty, if he had to count all the bad memories against the good onesâŠ
He found that in the past few months he had a truer friend in him than he ever had with anyone in the complex. Even Johnny he hated to admit.
Maybe he liked to hear his voice and talk to him. He may seem annoyed, but a small part of him grew to like him a little⊠maybe evenâŠ
âSo youâre not even gonna bother?â Rupert said, tears in his eyes.
Johnny just shrugged, a sly smile on his face. Rupert gritted his teeth, his face burning red hot with rage and sadness.
âFine, Iâll go alone! Some friend you are!â Rupert shouted as he ran out the door.
âWait! RUPERT!â Johnny shouted. He ran after him as Rupert pushed the elevator buttons aggressively.
âRupert think about what youâre doing for a DAMN second!â Johnny shouted, âIf youâre going to do this, you might not even come back from it!â
The elevator doors slide open as Rupert stepped in, Johnny following him.
âAre you even prepared for what youâll face? What you might see, encounter, or even go up against?â
âWhy do you even care? Iâll be fine. Iâve got plenty of training and I can do whatever the heck I want!â Rupert said, âIâm pretty sure Mr. Petrov wonât notice Iâm gone until dinnertime. I can deal with whatever scolding that he can come up with. Iâll even make sure not to mention you.â
âThatâs not what Iâm worried about Rupert,â Johnny said, âYou need to understand that this is the worst decision you could ever make. If you go out there⊠thereâs no telling if youâll come backâŠâ
Rupert looked Johnny in the eye as he came out with a pitchfork. He gripped the handle as he grit his teeth.
âThatâs just a chance Iâll have to take. If you really REALLY want me to get into trouble, you can tell every damn person in this building what Iâm doing. Iâm not coming back until I know Dave is safe,â Rupert said in a low voice, before heading back to the elevator. Johnny started to shake with rage before punching the wall, wincing as he looked up to see Rupert leaving.
âDamn it⊠damn it allâŠâ
Chapter One: Despite Everything, I Canât Help But Care About Him
-----
Still pretty nervous about posting this so if you liked this at least let me know with either a comment or a kudos. Thanks so much for reading and I'll post the second chapter HOPEFULLY sometime next week. If not you have permission to be mad at me XD
Hm, for the ask game, how about- Dmitri or Johnny? And to spice this up, Phoenix Wright. (and maybe one of your ocs)
oops so I'll preface this by saying I do not think about Johnny much at all, so his sections will be a little barebones.
For an OC, since I've only really mentioned one explicitly (still working on that regarding the disappearance intro post...) I'll use my Retold THSC oc, a CCC agent named Epithet! Quick reference, they use any pronouns and have the baneful fox mask as their assigned anomaly, making it so they can shapeshift into any face that's not their own.
favorite thing about them
Johnny: Uh, he's a good character to kill I guess? He can be good fodder for Rupert character development either dead or alive. (This is how I use him in Retold, he is very dead.)
Dmitri: He's a great Ellie antagonist. Even though Ellie's been kind of shafted in terms of story/character, I can always assign Dmitri to be her personal villain.
Phoenix: he's just kind of insane, but it's that simmering insane that lies just below the surface. You think Edgeworth is a lot for pretending to kill himself post losing one single trial? No, he's nothing compared to everything Phoenix does. Also he is SUCH a bitch to people in his own head and it's great.
Epithet: She's a bitch. Genuinely, she is notttt a good person. She believes wholeheartedly in the CCC's mission (which isn't entirely bad!), but she also agrees with how they're going about it (killing Henry, blaming Henry for them being fractured, indirectly rewriting the world...). She's very good at turning from purposefully aggravating and provoking to very cold and clinical.
least favorite thing about them
Johnny: I just don't find him super compelling! He shows up in StD and I think it's fun he can die, but otherwise? He's just another cop character.
Dmitri: If this is Canada, why is he Russian? I dislike the automatic Russian villainization. The Wall would have been better as Canadian.
Phoenix: I don't think I know enough about him to dislike certain parts, but the fandom really often subdues his bitchiness in favor of being generically nice. Nope, he is an asshole and we love it.
Epithet: I don't dislike anything about it, but as a character it's a bit hard to write because it really likes to talk in circles and have unresolved issues about its identity that it refuses to think about. But that also makes it fun!
favorite line
Johnny: I guess his one quote: "Yeah!"
Dmitri: "This is coming out of your paycheck. All of you." I think this sums up his character.
Phoenix: "Exactly, Your Honor! I would like to cross-examine the witness's pet parrot!" This killed me the first time around.
Epithet: While there's no canon for them, not really, here's one from an old fic: (speaking to Henry) "Hold on! And who didnât die when they were supposed to? We have a job to do, you know."
brOTP
Johnny: him and Rupert? Again, I like focusing on Rupert's government relationships more. But I think they were close.
Dmitri: Dmitri and Grigori. They have a similar leader/right hand dynamic as Copperright, just less charismatic and more evil. I like it.
Phoenix: Phoenix and Franziska. They can be mean to people together.
Epithet: Epithet and another OC I haven't really mentioned, her name is Azimuth and she's another CCC character!
OTP
Johnny: Johnny x being dead for character development
Dmitri: bitter divorced exes Dmitri x Galeforce
Phoenix: A bit generic, but Narumitsu. What can I say, they're just written so well for each other.
Epithet: Epithet is too aroace and full of unresolved issues to have any sort of relationships. He needs to get therapy first.
nOTP
Johnny: n/a
Dmitri: Dmitri x Ellie. Idk why anyone would do this, but weird.
Phoenix: Phoenix and Kristoff. It can't be fluffy, it has to be filled with hate or else I don't see it.
Epithet: I guess Epithet and Henry? They're complicated, but if xe was a real character I could see a fandom boiling them down to a hate-ship when xe and Henry actually got a weird respect understanding thing going on.
random headcanon
Johnny: Johnny is also selectively mute, making his similarities to Henry infuriating to Rupert.
Dmitri: this goes against the game's canon but he hates Ellie wayyyyy more than he hates Henry
Phoenix: He's got some scarring from Godot's coffee burning him.
Epithet: Everything is canon for her... but in Day's fic Clusterhug, there's an AU version of her about what she would have been like without the mask! Her name is Skylar the Dancer. Look out for her in the fic! :D
unpopular opinion
Johnny: I just don't care about him? I was confused when he showed up in a lot of fanwork just because he's not remarkable to me. I can see why people latch onto him, but he's not for me.
Dmitri: I don't know what counts as an unpopular opinion for him, so I'll say his fixation on Henry over Ellie is another example of Puffball's refusal to do interesting Ellie things.
Phoenix: Idk what counts as an unpopular opinion for him either, but maybe I dislike how him and Maya are boiled down to 'siblings'. People can have close, complicated bonds and also be mainly friends. That's good, even. Friends can be messy and completely loyal and crazy for each other. Get aromantic about it.
Epithet: When I say any pronouns, I mean any. Neopronouns, it/its, Epithet does NOT care. He just wants Henry DEAD
song i associate with them
Johnny: n/a
Dmitri: I've Had Enough by Melina KB, where Retold Ellie kills the shit out of him and it's great.
Phoenix: While I don't really have songs for him, one of my favorite fic series is called 'Jack O' lanterns in July' and so I'll say the Phoenix by FOB?
Epithet: Bells of Notre Dame, Bear Ghost cover. It's got fae's accusing nature and dedication to the CCC.
Thanks for the ask!! I love giving my useless opinions :D

Everyone else: Hershell Panzer is a wonderful (if somewhat distant) father who loves and completely accepts Johnny and is absolutely shattered by his son's death đ
Me: What if Hershell is abusive? What if he kidnapped Johnny and forced him to be his son and conform to his desires and hates him anyway simply because of his heritage? What if he sees Johnny as a monster and is relieved to hear that he's dead? What if Johnny actually faked his death and ran back to his original family the first chance he got? What if Rupert Price and Dave Panpa are the only people who genuinely care about him?
What if IoS is the best thing that happens to Johnny in all of the timelines?
