Blu Christmas Holiday Movie Asplosion 2022! β Chapter 9: Santa Claus - The Movie π¦ Back to straight very Christmasy holiday fare, with Santa Claus: The Movie. This movie starts out managing to feel older than its 1980s creation, though not before too long it starts feeling very 80s, and certainly not always in positive ways. There is definitely a good share of embarrassingly corny moments, most of which, not surprisingly, revolve around the kids in the movie (and various forced attempts to make them seem cool, or funny, tough, etc). But it is in many places a rather charming movie. Also, John Lithgow excels as usual at chewing the scenery with his hilariously villainy villain performance (which I kind of enjoy even more, knowing that he is also a very talented serious actor). Dudley Moore was theoretically the "star" of the picture, but honestly, that credit has to go to David Huddleston, and as I like to point out every year, if there actually is a real Santa Claus, it might just be him. It's like he was born for the part. π² βοΈ π π
