I like Johndip because I always imagine it's in a nice comfort zone, like come on these two nerds would be like "holly shit" about holding hands.

Plus I think John's tendency to try not to overthink things would be a nice balance with Dipper's tendency to overthink things.

I just imagine their relationship as a very pure and comfortable one that comes as easy as breathing (get it because John's involved) but they can still take each other's breath away John and Dipper are the kind of couple that don't even realise their dating until they're practically married.

And John would just be so supportive of Dipper's interests and conspiracy theories and mystery hunting because I imagine John genuinely enjoys it and may be on a similar wavelength I mean in canon John did have a large wall of text on a the marvel of alien ghosts because usually they belong in different genres

Tell me John and Dipper wouldn't spend ages talking about Alien Ghosts together

John apreciates Dipper's nerdiness he probably thinks Dipper is kind of cool John probaly thinks Dipper's nerdiness is what makes him cool

Also me: Starts constantly thinking about how the two would probably be in a beautiful, healthy relationship and about how their similarities and shared interests would bring them together but their differences would also cause them to grow as people
