It’s mildly ironic that despite having Mandarin Chinese as my mother tongue I wrote this in English and ran out of steam after translating it into Japanese lmao

Found a friend who’s willing to help translate my Hara x Lawrence fic into mandarin and as a result I’ve been going through the published Chinese translation of The Seed and the Sower to give them some reference where I’ve more or less directly quoted the novel.
The published translation is… rough. It’s not wrong outright like some translations I’ve seen but it’s also not beautiful. It feels clunky and there’s no beauty to it. It doesn’t stimulate my appetite of reading at all, sadly. (The Japanese translation, however, I thoroughly recommend.) It’s just sad to think about the state of literature in my mother tongue, but also mildly hypocritical for me to say since I write way more in English than in Mandarin.
