I am currently unemployed but if I had to go back in time re the job I’ve held for the last two years… yeah, I would take it again. I learned a lot. I learned: how I do/should comport myself in business situations, what I will and will not take from a manager, the kind of value I can bring to a team, and more. For me, it was an overall win, not least because I learned that, OUTSIDE OF ACADEMIA, I am actually pretty damn functionally awesome and useful.

Compared to my experiences working fast food and retail it's nothing. Honestly it's probably the best job for me (and probably others like me). Regular schedule, almost zero people to deal with, music/podcasts whole shift, low stress due to it being basically the same thing every night, good pay (I get paid about as much as I did when I was a manager in retail) and good benefits (which I didnt have at all as a retail manager lol), and it keeps me moving which I need because I get anxious otherwise. Men are my main complaint with the job because they are fucking monsters in their areas 😭 Anyways yeah if anyone reading this is overwhelmed by retail/fast food maybe try custodial (in a state owned building is a plus because pay and benefits should be better). I literally wish I had gone to this straight out of highschool, I'd have saved myself a lot of bs if I had. fuck retail and fast food. To those suffering in those jobs rn I'm sorry, y'all have it worse.
