Layered Imprint Spring Summer 2018 Research and Inspiration
LAYERED IMPRINT revolves around the key word - identity.
Whatever modifications we have done to our body, that is our identity.
While making reference to Li Basadung tribe, the fundamental make up of a person’s identity such as thumbprints and DNA molecules has been incorporated into this collection. Every fingerprint is unique. The curves and lines are design in such a way that no one has the exact same fingerprint combination.
By doing this collection, I am finding myself as a designer. Putting layers on top of layers. There is a touch on athletic aesthetics due to my sportiness background. But at the same time, I aspire to become someone who is sophisticated and mature.
Layered Imprint is a ready-to-wear collection with a combination of textile manipulation that enhance the collection. Laser cutting techniques and hand sewn techniques were used to create a crafty yet edgy style. Digital printing and crystals embellishments were used to acheive the texture of the collection.
The placement of crystals meant to create the DNA molecule while the hand sewn thread act as the bond between each atom. Crystals used are to highlight and enhance the designs.
This collection features a balance between new and old. There is a style of playfulness (sports chic) as depicted by the colors in contrast to black, as well as the fabric usage. Where soft and structured fabrics, sheer and opaque fabrics are used to complement one another.
