My discussions on the electronic genre I attempt to define might be me doing way too many complications in here. Look, one should be aware of the fact these musicians seem to be more or less within the field of downtempo. Sure, the latter genre can also be called not-quite chill out, though let me use the quote by Twin Peaks – they're one and the same. However, I would claim chill out tends to be understood in a more pejorative way, which might be a glimpse of a certain electronica elitism for my taste. I get why – there's a certain through line from easy listening to that one, though even the old term had a share of quality. To be honest, I am much defensive towards chill out thanks to the idiom possessing a calmness as the goal. We should cherish that more often, yes.
