Now that the Heralds have re-sworn their oaths, do y’all think they’re still capable of getting drunk? The Return can’t. I know Jez was wasted the last 1000 years, but he had forsaken his oaths. If the new oath pack is like the last oath pack, they should be constantly imbued with investiture. Which means no more getting drunk, potentially.
Oh wow! I sure do love being Jezrien, Herald of Kings, Father of Storms, Prime Kadasix, Patron of the Windrunners, Bringer of Water and Life! I sure hope nothing happens to me now that I've spent millennia slowly losing my mind - *gets stabbed 23 times*
I finished the Stormlight Archive a couple weeks ago, and something that's been on my mind is Kaladin's Herald name.
Like, Jezrien is called Jezerezeh'Elin or Yaezir. Nale is Nalan'Elin or Nakku. And Taln is Talenelat'Elin, or Talmut.
Like what would future Vorins, Azish, or Shin call Kaladin?
I am obsessing unhealthily over the historical figures of Roshar, like the Shard holders, and the Heralds, Ishar and Jezrien and Nale and Taln especially, and the generation of the Recreance, Melishi and Garith and Shmone and all their spren, and I would've been really grateful if I had someone to obsess over them with

I was skimming through Taln's interlude chapter and I found something interesting. When Taln is going through his like speech that in the past to help people after the Desolations, generally he gets through it but at one point when he gets to Jezrien he pauses. So the first image is him basically going through Soulcasting weapons without any hesitation and then the next is when he gets to Jezerin.
I'm curious why he pauses and if this is foreshadowing something. Perhaps there could have been some conflict between Jezrien and Taln. Or at the very least Taln disagreed with something Jezrien was doing.
In the Stormlight RPG, it mentions that Ash is more lucid than the other Heralds and I've had a theory that Jezrien got Ishar to help him take on some of her madness. When see him throughout the books, he seems a lot less...functional compared to someone like Nale, Battar or even Kalak. So maybe it could be that at the very least, Taln was aware that Jezrien wasn't holding up well.
Also side note, Taln mentions that Ishar is trying to come up with a way to stop knowledge from being lost after Desolations. He...sure did. He found a way to keep humanity from losing information for 4,500 years. God Brandon is so mean.
Have you ever wondered how it would feel to lose your sanity, Ivory?
I have wondered this. How could I not? Considering what the ancient fathers are.
You call me logical. It’s untrue, as I let my passions rule me as much as many.
In my times of peace, however, my mind has always been the one thing I could rely upon.
I fear losing that, Ivory. It terrifies me.
How would it have felt, to be these Heralds? To suffer your mind slowly becoming untrustworthy? Are they too far gone to know?
Or are there lucid moments, where they strain and sort through memories … trying frantically to decide which are reliable and which are fabrications…
Have some fluffy pre-desolation El/Jezrien and imagine how beautiful Roshar could have been if it wasn’t beset by warring shards.
One so tarnished, somehow bright
