Concept art for Jet Set Radio (2000 | Published by Sega for the Dreamcast)
Followย @superpotionlabsย for the best retro gaming content. ๐ซ
Development on JSR was led by director Masayoshi Kikuchi with art direction from Ryuta Ueda. The team took inspiration from late-1990s Japanese pop cultureโdrawing on the playful energy of PaRappa the Rapper, the anti-establishment spirit of Fight Club (1999), and the aesthetics of 1980s American hip-hop, including graffiti culture. The gameโs environments were modeled after Tokyoโs Shibuya and Shinjuku shopping districts, featuring graffiti by real artists such as Eric Haze, who also designed the logo. Jet Set Radio was the first video game to use a cel-shaded art style, developed as a stylistic reaction to what the team saw as an overabundance of sci-fi and fantasy themes in Segaโs other titles.
SEGA has finally announced;

Made a lowpoly fanart for SystemST91 over on Twitter/Bsky. This is his original character Joe, a rollerblading duck that's apart of his Air Runners universe. Started with a sculpt and polypaint in Zbrush, then retopo'd and rigged in 3dsMax, baked in Xnormal, then animated in Unity. Love the way everything came out!
Check out SystemST91 on YT, they make amazing psx style dnb:
I made a mod for Bomb Rush Cyberfunk of Blaze the Cat from Sonic Riders! The Mod Trailer comes out today at 3 pm.
