another cultural detail in Tarkir: Dragonstorm Episode 1
the opening mentions the tea house was run by a woman who had 3 husbands. this isn't just a polyamorous character– polyandry is normal in Tibetan culture, though not really common anymore. and i think it makes sense that Tibet would be one of the cultures that Jeskai borrows from.
The building, which was often the first or last stop for anyone coming from or venturing to the Salt Road, slouched on the lip of the fishing village surrounding Dirgur Lake Monastery. In years past, it'd been a much smaller establishment, operated by an elderly monk who'd forsworn her vows for a raucous triptych of husbands—a tea house with ambitions.
