I mean c'mon people, she's based on a jellyfish but assuming she's toxic is kinda stereotyping (this is a joke)

Okay but seriously, GulusGammamon has the same haughtyness and does way worse things than Jellymon, yet I haven't seen a single person have the same disgust for the one that actually murders other digimon. Is it because she's fem presenting?

Is she a jerk? Yes, sometimes! But you can have your bad moments without being a problematic person (or… digimon I guess).

The strangest part is I hear this opinion a lot from Kiyoshiro fans, which is extremely bizarre to me because fandom-wise, human and digimon tend to be seen as a packaged deal, right? Usually if one likes the human, they like their “little buddy” too. We have pairs like Jou and Gomamon who bicker, and Masaru and Agumon or Tagiru and Gumdramon who have gotten into physical altercations, why split up these two specifically?

I think the problem comes from Kiyoshiro's overall demeanor. His cowardice and whiny, avoidant attitude in comparison to Jellymon's usual confronting head-on approach can make it look like she's constantly forcing him into situations against his will.

The thing about Kiyoshiro is he's complicated; in his introduction episode he's scared out of his mind, but he wants to resolve the Majiramon incident anyway. He feels it's his responsibility to keep the dorm residents safe, because he has the ability to do so. And usually in general, if someone else is involved that isn't Hiro or Ruli, he'll face his fears for their sake.

Now I bring this up because most of Jellymon's bullying is centered around Kiyoshiro not wanting to take part in certain investigations. She knows him, and she knows his flight instinct takes over before any of his other thoughts, and if he had time to think about it, he really does want to help given his personality.

His whole contradictory personality seemed to be the main reason Jellymon was legitimately drawn to him. Yes at first, she thought he was a loser and hung around him because scaring him was fun, but after he put himself in a deadly situation when the poor boy had tears in his eyes and easily could have ran away (Jellymon even encouraged him to run), she admired his bravery.

It's her heavy handed way of saying "you're being silly.”

Kiyoshiro also doesn't act like a victim in any sense, like some people will claim. He's not afraid of Jellymon, and he's not afraid to tell her no either. Jellymon whines about wanting to go to the circus and beach, and he flat out tells her no, and all she does is pout. She doesn't do anything uncalled for to get her way. In King of Knowledge, he is afraid of her because his memories are gone. It's supposed to be a sad and shocking scene to the viewer because we're supposed to pick up on the fact that he's not normally afraid of her.

I've seen people also bring up that she hurts him which, might I defend, is never for an inappropriate reason. She only shocks him when he's unconscious, and one time in King of Knowledge when he wasn't in his right mind and was about to hurt himself further. And if we can take from Whispers of the Dead, she's scared when he's unconscious. She cares for him deeply. When Kiyo is out for the count, Jellymon stays with him to make sure he's alright instead of fighting on her own (Except in Icy Hell, but I think she just thought he was straight up dead. And there wasn't much for her to do for him).

Fairly early on he views her as a protector, when he's scared he usually calls for Jellymon (the only times he doesn't is when Hiro is nearby and Jellymon isn't, iirc). And it seems like he gives her gifts in return. She asks for a camera, he buys her a camera (with a smile, might I add). And he trusts her with his phone and credit card (you could try to argue she stole his card, but if this follows Japanese society of today, he would rarely use a credit card and Jellymon would be much much more likely to take cash from him instead)

Also worth mentioning the whole "digimon struggle to understand how humans work" thing which is a big element in the show and definitely plays a part in their relationship too. Jellymon loves Kiyo but she's a digimon and he's a human and her methods of communication aren't always the most effective, especially on a scaredy cat like him.”
