Ah, the paparazzi. The bottom-feeders of the photographic world, armed with long lenses and the moral compass of a starving hyena.

As someone who has dedicated his life to the art of photography- the decisive moment, the raw poetry of light and shadow, the unflinching capture of truth- I find their vocation both fascinating and utterly contemptible. They aren't photographers in any meaningful sense. They are hunters. Their "art" isn't about revealing the soul of a subject or freezing a genuine human instant; it's about ambushing the famous in their most vulnerable, unguarded, or unflattering moments and selling the evidence to the highest bidder.

The financial incentive twists everything. When money becomes the sole purpose, photography loses its integrity. A true image should challenge, provoke, or illuminate. What do the paparazzi illuminate? That celebrities have bad hair days? That they argue with their partners? That they dare to age or look tired after a long flight? It's voyeurism dressed up as journalism, and the public laps it up because we've cultivated a culture addicted to the illusion of intimacy with people we'll never actually know.

That said… I cannot deny the raw skill some of them possess. The patience, the predatory timing, the ability to anticipate a moment before it happens- these are not nothing. In another life, under better guidance, a few might have become legitimate photojournalists. Instead, they choose the tabloid gutter for the paycheck. Photography has always had its mercenaries, but the modern paparazzi model is particularly grotesque: no editor, no ethics review, no accountability. Just dollars for dirt.

If you're considering that path, let me offer you some professional counsel: Don't.

Chase the shot that matters, not the one that pays the quickest. Capture something that will still speak decades from now, not something that disappears the moment the next scandal breaks. The camera is a powerful tool. Wield it like an artist, not like a parasite with a Nikon.

Yes, Frank dropped out of Blackwell, but that isn't an actual indicator of his age.

Within Season 01 itself Frank's age isn't mentioned as far as I'm aware, but according to his criminal record in BTS he was born on August 31, 1981. Season 01 is set in 2013 and BTS in 2010. That puts Frank somewhere around the 29-32 age range during his relationship (gag) with Rachel.

That kind of age gap is entirely inappropriate/unacceptable when one member of a pair is in their teens, regardless of if said teen is 18 or 19. That's still a huge power imbalance regardless of if you view 18 and 19 y/olds as "technically adults" just in terms of life experience as an adult on its own. (If my math is right he's roughly fourteen years older than her).

He should have known better than to date a teenager he has around a decade over in terms of life experience, but does so anyway. Not helping matters is we don't know when exactly Rachel and Frank began seeing each other, meaning he may have begun seeing her when she was as young as sixteen. Then you add the fact that he was her drug dealer and used her as a drug mule on at least one occasion and you can see why myself and others find him to be such a huge scumbag due to the huge power imbalance in their relationship.

Really the only conclusion one can come to regarding their connection to each other with all this in mind is that Frank groomed her, same as Jeffershit.

And when I say Frank has used Rachel as a drug mule, I'm referring to this.

It might be a bit hard to read I'm not sure, but basically Rachel got caught by police for carrying an entire medical bag of "controlled substances" (drugs) after meeting up with Frank. It's highly doubtful he gave her a whole bag for personal use when she can just go to him anytime for more, so it's likely he was using her to distribute drugs to other Blackwell students, as he has done with Nathan and Drew North.
