JEBREX WIN

PREMISE: In the rigid ant bio-caste system there’s one queen, many workers, and a select few who maintain law and order: ant cops. Can Jebjab and Jabjab, two ant detectives on the edge, clear their ant-crime cases while navigating life in a fast-paced, big time colony full of hustling drones, fungal farms workers looking for their next score, and a queen hell-bent on constant expansion? CHARACTERS: Like all ants, Jebjab and Jabjab were birthed from eggs as undifferentiated larvae. But while pupae, the two were specially selected to feast on rare detective jelly (known to scientists as Pectin-Sipowicz), and they soon grew into detective ants, instinctively drawn to solve ant-crimes. Like all detective ants, Jebjab and Jabjab have a crippling taste for fermented ant food goo, an inability to maintain relationships with female worker ants, and larger than average thoraxes.          Though they’re fundamentally incapable of imagining a life outside their work, by the end of the series, Jebjab and Jabjab had matured and mellowed considerably, and they began to look forward to retirement, a process in which detective ants’ bodies are broken apart by workers to make more detective jelly to feed to detective pupae. But mere days before Jebjab and Jibjab are set to hang up their ant cop badges for good, the colony comes under attack by bees, and they both perish when they dive in front of stingers headed for the queen (S03.E25 -- “The Sting”). NOTABLE EPISODE:  When a crew of honeypot ants is suspected of smuggling larval silk to a gang of sinister leafcutter ants, the detectives are drawn into a simmering cauldron of ugly inter-species tension. The episode ends in a thrilling mandible on mandible fight over a small stream (S02.E07 -- “Dance on a Log”). CATCHPHRASE: "We've all got exo-skeletons in the closet." TRIVIA/MISCELLANY: This show was often confused with The Cheek Pinchers, a show about aunts who solve crimes.
