"Can I feel?" Maddie asked.
"Of course," Juliette replied happily. Maddie reached over and placed a hand on Juliette's swollen stomach tentatively. For a moment, there was nothing, and then suddenly the pressure of an elbow jab. Maddie jumped.
"Whoa."
Juliette giggled at the girl's reaction, glancing over at Deacon. He smiled back at her before dropping his gaze back to his guitar.
"Have you guys picked a name yet?" Daphne asked.
Juliette shrugged, keeping her gaze on Deacon as his fingers moved over the strings of the guitar. He moved to shift his fingers a moment later and then gasped, releasing the neck of the guitar as he straightened his fingers. Maddie glanced over her shoulder at him, but he returned his fingers to their previous spot after a moment.
"I think a few weird ones have been mentioned," Juliette responded finally after a moment.
"Like what?" Maddie asked.
"Like Fender," Deacon commented as he tried to find a rythm in the light strumming he was doing.
"And Strummer," Juliette chuckled. The baby kicked again and then shifted, nudging her bladder. She winced. "Fear not, though. Your sister will have a-"
"Semi-normal," Deacon cut in.
"Name," Juliette finished. Maddie laughed.
She always tried to get him to see the future...
I'm trying to get to sleep, but I have Jeacon on the brain so I give you this: I've been watching this season again to tide myself over (because isn't basically everyone?) and I realized laying here... Juliette seemed to try so hard in the first half of the season to get Deacon to face towards the future. Now, I ship them through and through and feel like she's what makes the most sense for him (and the healthiest IMHO). But my point as I was laying here thinking, was how much she tried to get him to see that he needed to stop living in the past (granted he was too caught up in it anyway and clearly needed to hit bottom so he can fully move on now).... but the effort was there. She loved him enough even as a friend that she just wanted him happy in the present instead of living in the past where he was suffering. And she tried so much to be there for him. Idk. I know they're the unpopular ship, but that's just my opinion.

Nine hours, nine pages, and 100 plays of Wasting All These Tears later, my first Juliette/Deacon fanfic is finished.
Like seriously. Exactly 100 plays. Also, I'm really proud of/in love with this oneshot.
