i love jesus christ superstar so much i'm going to throw up. i need to bring back the era when i would just watch the same songs but in 5 different productions and make hyperspecific analysis of each actors' vocal inflections and small mannerism choices and also go fucking insane over the costuming of every production for hours on end. i need to bust out that costuming analysis on the 2012 broadway revival again. i need to rank every superstar outfit and put the 2012 arena tour one on the bottom. i need to talk about how every production's stance on jesus' divinity is slightly different & the 2012 revival gets the closest to portraying him as actual son of god while the 2012 arena makes him the least Actually divine (really it's because of the overall modern costuming and the explicit connection to contemporary activist movements), and the 1973 movie hits the ambiguous sweet spot. and how the 2000 production is fucking batshit but jerome pradon's vocals were an intentional character choice and the 2022 north american tour had the best portrayal of the pharisees, and list mary magdalene's relationship with jesus & judas in every production AND !! !!!! !!! !!!!!! IT'S ALL COMING BACK TO ME
