it always bums me out that the show had such a small following but one of the upsides of that is i never really saw much linden hate which i'm thankful for because she's one of the best crafted female characters ive seen on tv in recent years and shes definitely not the type you see often. im so grateful for the show creating both her holder, both of them are so important

I honestly can’t believe its following was so small??? I hadn’t heard of it until it came out on netflix which was mostly bc I hardly used my computer in college for anything other than writing papers and I didn’t have cable and those were the years it was on. I put it in my queue when I saw it advertised on netflix in its fourth and final season and hadn’t picked it up to watch until now but damn I’m so glad I did. my mom loved it - she’s watched pretty much every good detective show on netflix and amazon prime lol and I’d seen enough love for it from people like you that I needed to definitely get around to it at some point. 

but you’re so right I love that I’ve seen zero Linden hate which I was NOT AT ALL expecting. she is incredibly important for all the reasons I mentioned and as you said, for how rare that is to see in not only a female character, but especially a female protagonist! I feel like she’d get the Jyn Erso treatment if she was exposed to a larger fandom. I know I’ve got more of the series to watch but I strongly suspect a lot of people would think she “doesn’t deserve” the care and affection Holder extends to her, in the same way that people talk about Jyn and Tulip vis à vis Cassian and Cassidy/Jesse. and omg yes Holder is...a hulking, skulking angel of the Lord tbh the world needs him and I’m so glad he’s here

someone combined literally all of my favorite things (female protag in relentless pursuit of justice, shifty but roguishly loveable male protag, multilayered narrative depth and nuance, actually giving a damn about the fallout of violent crimes for the victim’s family and not sexualizing dead female bodies, northeastern gothic cinematography, etc.) in a tightly plotted detective show and it has surpassed any other I’ve enjoyed (and I’ve watched a lot)

dude i like realize all the time that i repressed all that shit we dealt with all summer and its coming back and everytime im excited for s2 its like neon lights in my head like FEAR

RIGHT? I don’t mind braving the tag for you and sending you and tagging you in stuff I know you’ll like if it gets bad. hopefully it won’t and I’m just jumping the gun but seeing a few things to this effect freaked me out and reminded me of how infuriating it could be at times. it was appalling how many people never said a word about the emotional turmoil jesse put tulip through or about how jesse just...left...cassidy’s burned up body outside...but then they turned around and got mad at Tulip for feeding Cassidy a dog so he wouldn’t fucking die. at least we know the actors and writers and showrunners understand their characters very well. it’s much worse when you’re getting flak from both sides but in this case we’re limited to a small, if obnoxious, number of people.

oh god. I may have to stay away from all posts Preacher just for the sake of my sanity. I love Cassidy. I find Jesse pretty 'meh' personally (let's be honest, he is a bit of a dick) and I adore Tulip. She (and Ruth Negga) deserve so much better than fandom gives them. Ugh.
