đ„Quiet Now is an đalbum by jazz đčpianist Bill Evans, recorded in 1969. It was released in 1981 on the Affinity label. The same recordings were officially released in 2021 in cooperation with the Bill Evans estate as part of the album Behind The Dikes.
In 1999, Polygram issued a compilation titled Quiet Now: Never Let Me Go which, aside from the title track, has a completely different track listing.
â Reception
âQuiet Now is a bit too workmanlike to be one of the greatest Bill Evans Trio releases â itâs more solidly competent than divinely inspired, but Evansâ playing, as always, is marvelous.â â Stewart Mason/AlMusic.

Reception.
The AllMusic review by Ron Wynn awarded the album 4 stars and stated:âFine trio date from â81, with guitarist John Scofield stretching out in multiple directions and showing his facility with the swing style, mainstream, and jazz-rock genres. Besides his fluid, inventive solos, Scofield works well with bassist Steve Swallow, who approaches his instrument like a second guitar, and drummer Adam Nussbaum.â

Liner notes for this remarkable album were written by none other than George Shearing: âIâve been listening with great pleasure for quite a while to Bill Charlap. This CD seems to have everythingâŠ. touch, swing, sound, precision and just about everything you need in a well-rounded, well-schooled jazz pianist.â â Criss Cross Jazz.
Reception.
The AllMusic review by Scott Yanow awarded the album 4 stars and stated:âThis trio outing by pianist Bill Charlap (with bassist Peter Washington and drummer Kenny Washington) is a superior modern mainstream set. Charlapâs boppish yet melodic style (which is championed by George Shearing in the liner notes) is pleasing, swinging and just unpredictable enough to hold oneâs interest. He mostly performs lesser-known standards such as Vernon Dukeâs âRoundabout,â Irving Berlinâs âThe Best Thing For You Would Be Meâ and the Rodgers and Hart classic âNobodyâs Heart.â An enjoyable outing.â
âThis was the trioâs first album, their collective association continuing to the present day, with later albums on Venus, Columbia, Impulse! and latterly, Blue Note. Where once there were established trios like these â think Peterson or Cole â now there are merely impromptu or short-lived collaborations. so Charlapâs threesome represent a welcome example of continuity.â â JAZZWISE.
âThis CD is definitely one of my most cherished and prized possessions.â â George Shearing.
Personnel:
Bill Charlap â piano
Peter Washington â bass
Kenny Washington â drums

Reception.
The Allmusic review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine awarded the album 4 stars stating âThe Three Sounds open their signature sound a bit on the romantic Moods. They retain the same light touch that made their early albums so enjoyable, but they add more textures to the mix⊠on the whole, Moods is an endearing collection of appealing mainstream jazzâ.
Personnel:
Gene Harris â piano
Andrew Simpkins â bass
Bill Dowdy â drums
