I started the day with two dogs, & it's ending with three. Before we euthanized Alexa, I considered eventually getting a Japanese Chin. The little fuzzy guy was an owner surrender at our veterinarian's clinic today. They requested euthanasia even though he's less than 5 years old. He had never been neutered & therefore was never fully house-broken. Just because an animal isn't working out for you, doesn't mean they're an insurmountable problem for someone else. After I agreed to take him, Dr. Scott neutered him instead. Now, Tessie has a companion who is the same color & will hopefully enjoying playing with her, after he settles into his new home. This little gentleman received a second chance because my daughter knows I like Chins, & she works for Dr. Scott. It's not fair to ask your vet to euthanize an otherwise healthy pet, because it's causing a bit of inconvenience. There are plenty of no-kill shelters out there & small dogs are in high demand right now. I adopted Tessie from one almost a week ago. Ask me for a reference, please.
