GALTx eNews: National Walk Your Dog Month!

January is National Walk Your Dog Month! It isn't the easiest month for many of us to get out and walk our dogs, so maybe that makes it the best month to remind everyone walking is important for all. Fresh air and exercise improves our mental and physical health, and if you have a canine snooter, smelling all the smells is the best way to stay up to date in the neighborhood.

If you don't have a hound of your own, we can help you out. We currently have more than 50 hounds in our Dallas area kennel that need humans to get them out for exercise. These recently retired racers love the human interaction and attention while they await an opening in one of our foster homes. Email our volunteer coordinator at [email protected] to learn more and to sign up for a volunteer orientation.

And don't forget, all year long you can earn money for the GALT hounds while you walk, run or cycle by turning on one of our walking apps, Walk For A Dog by Wooftrax or ResQWalk.
