Harry Holland and the early labour movement in Australia and New Zealand – Part 8

Holland and the Socialist Federation immediately threw themselves into four key industrial battles which, over the course of the next three years, would determine the relationship of forces between bosses and workers in New South Wales: strikes by the coal lumpers on the Sydney waterfront and the Sydney Rockchoppers, a lockout of the Broken Hill ore miners, and mass demonstrations and strikes by the Newcastle coal miners.

The capitalist mode of production comes into existence by uprooting people from the land and drawing them into urban industrial concentrations. Great industrial cities are a characteristic feature of capitalism, and the modern proletariat, although its origins are among the dispossessed peasants, is essentially an urban class.

1. No dar la mano.

6. Lleva contigo siempre desinfectante con al menos 60% de alcohol para usarlo después de que tengas que tocar algo.

7. Cuando tengas que toser o estornudar, intenta hacerlo en pañuelos desechables. Si lo haces en el codo considera que el virus puede permanecer en la ropa hasta una semana.

8. Considera que el virus no permanece en el aire, pero si que puede permanecer en cualquier superficie hasta una semana. Por tanto las únicas formas de contagiarse son cuando alguien te tose/estornuda, o cuando te tocas la cara después de tocar una superficie infectada.

9. Las mascarillas normales no evitan que te contagies si alguien te tose/estornuda, pero son útiles para que no te toques la cara despues de tocar una superficie infectada. Esto es importante porque nos tocamos mucho la cara inconscientemente.

10. Asume que no va a haber ninguna medicina o vacuna disponible hasta por lo menos 2021.
