Here's an old pull that's relevant to current discussion. As might be suspected, Jaki is one of those races that's better understood with knowledge of the Japanese. It is "邪鬼", literally "wicked oni/ghost." The 鬼/ki kanji in particular encompasses a broad number of meanings, as you can see in the Jisho dictionary link. But this "ki" is also the same ki that's in "Kishin/鬼神", you know, the largely protective deities. So why is the [4 Heavenly Kings +Thor] race considered "oni"? It's more about the expression they wear on their faces to exude a "fierceness"/"scariness" to repel evil. See: one of the definitions on Jisho. Also, Fierce Deity Link, aka "Kishin" Link. "Fierce" probably would have been the ideal localization for the Kishin race, btw. And maybe "Wicked" for Jaki.

So, the Hecatoncheir isn't literally an ogre, but it might be considered fierce or scary in demeanor/countenance. Considering their appearance in Hesiod's Theogony:

Then their other appearances in myth: their imprisonment in Tartarus by Ouranos and their release by Zeus to help him fight the Titans in the Titanomachy. So maybe they're monstrous but they aided in establishing the new order of the Greek cosmos-- thus, Hecatoncheir might be considered an archetype of the Dark-Neutral Jaki race.

Nobody likes a tournament arc. Thankfully, readers needn't pay too much attention to the yelling, screaming, and bleeding at the novel's highly orchestrated, gladiatorial exploits, and can instead focus on the cast's intermittent bouts of crippling insecurity, unjustified ego, and lust for power. Noel Stollen's climb to the top continues. Last volume, he used his fists to fell a rival regalia. This volume, he uses his organizational expertise, producing the Seven Star Cup tournament and spying the inevitable fallout.

As readers of this novel series know by now, Noel's plans often go his way, but not without a few nasty twists and turns. THE MOST NOTORIOUS TALKER...v4 finally (formally) introduces its valiant personas, but with more earnest (obvious) character motives. After all, Noel can't plan for and stop what he doesn't know exists. Malebolge the Chaotic may be scheming to unravel human industry and dissect the strongest seekers alive, but Noel can't counterpunch if he's always one step behind.
