Carrottail turned his head back towards the battle scene. Not a single cat had noticed Wildstar had taken care of Jaggedstar. He glanced at Emberfang and Jetfur, who were knocked out of their previous state, no longer being surrounded.
Jetfur battled Branchlight, one of HollowClan's newest warriors. Jetfur was experienced in battle, though just not exposed to them enough. Her long, unsheathed paws flew repeatedly and furiously at the tom.
Emberfang, however, was weaker and even more inexperienced to battle. He looked as if he was seething in pain from Firpaw's slashes. Now how Emberfang was being beaten by an apprentice, Carrottail was unsure of how to find an answer.
(Emberfang is smaller though, and he is also a relatively new warrior, too.) Carrottail thought.
He swung his head towards Jaggedstar's body, and back to the battling warriors.
"Everyone, halt! Stop fighting!" Carrottail cried.
That seemed to do the trick, as his cry left MoonClan warriors speechless as they looked at the fallen Jaggedstar. Wildstar then mysteriously appeared out of the rainy shadows, with his ice blue eyes glaring jeeringly at the MoonClan cats.
"Carrottail is right, you MoonClan fools! This battle has concluded. HollowClan cats, we must retreat, and leave these puny cats to their endless suffering." Wildstar mewed loudly.
With that, the HollowClan cats retreated out of the battle forest, and the MoonClan cats sat there in stunned silence as they stared at their dead leader.
"Don't just sit there!" Yowled Smokefang, Jetfur's litter brother and a very experienced warrior.
The cats stared at eachother worriedly before Palepaw and Carrottail himself rushed quickly to Smokefang's aid. Jetfur, Emberfang, and the rest of the present MoonClan cats sighed before heading back to their rightful territory.
Carrottail wondered how Spotpool, MoonClan's current deputy, would respond to Jaggedstar's death. He snapped out of his thoughts when Smokefang got his attention.
"Fine fighting out there, Ozark. You did the right thing by stopping the cats who were still fighting. Clearly they were ignorant." Smokefang mewed, albeit firmly.
Ozark finally breathed out in relief. He could finally be called his name again. The cats who knew him well knew that that's the name he went by inside of his clan. But outside, he had to hide all that under the counterfeit name of Carrottail.
"Yeah, I thought that battle was never going to end!" Palepaw chortled, snapping Ozark out of his thoughts yet again.
"Yeah, it was nothing, really. Just trying to end the fighting, y'know." Ozark muttered.
"But let's look at what we have now. Our beloved leader, Jaggedstar, is dead." Smokefang interrupted, but continued on strongly. "We have to worry about Spotpool. She's our leader now, believe it or not. Whatever she must say, we must follow." Smokefang told them, though mostly to Palepaw, who is his apprentice.
Ozark let his thoughts take control again, as he let the two cats chatter. He worried big time now, he knew Spotpool had been through a lot. What will she say now? Ozark knew that a new future was ready for MoonClan, but a bad feeling was present deep down.
(MoonClan must be prepared now, we might be in danger of, well, something...)
Ozark stared ahead as he, Smokefang, and Palepaw gracefully lifted and carried Jaggedstar's body back to camp.
