“Jasper, you’re lucky you-... It’s amazing you were able to endure for so long with all these... negative feelings corroding you from the inside.” She pursed her bottom lip, taking a few seconds to continue, “For instance, I was barely able to keep my cool or even defeat a single crystal gem the little time I passed as an opposition. I was scared in a place I only knew via early reports... then a simple intermission appeared and my world fell apart. Now you’ve made a promise to confront Rose Quartz and, even if you haven’t heard of her for such a long time, the moment evidence showed up, you ran after, convicted to defeat her. Get veangence or whatever you could take.”

“So...” The shorter of the two stood in front of Jasper, holding something in her hands. She cleared her throat before lifting up her hands to reveal a gemling that looked nearly IDENTICAL to the bigger gem. But that wasn’t the only one, two other gemlings climbed up and were now clinging to Amethyst’s wild mane of hair, both of them looking similar to her.

Rose hasn't returned to her home in about a week, normally she'd be frantic about leaving a guest there on their own. The faun hardly cares at this point, she's rather sick and tired from her ordeal. Kidnapping is never fun, especially when it's smack-dab in the middle of some passive aggressive posturing over parts of the forest.

Rose hasn't been expecting any company for some time. As an immortal, many things have come to pass for her and her kind. Fauns are beings of nature, not morality. Her home has taken root in a far flung little corner near the foot of a mountain and at the edge of a great wood. Her charges have been neatly tucked away for the evening.

The forest rests in a deep darkness, the stars overhead twinkle and glimmer. Above all else, the moon sits. Fat and bright like a giant mirror in the sky, the satellite shines. A lit lantern rests in one hand, she steps delicately over the gnarled roots of a tree.

     “What are you trying to accomplish?”

The others knew. Except for Steven, but... even he could tell something was up. Pearl and Garnet spoke with Amethyst privately about it, though it ended up with Amethyst running out of the temple and heading off toward the beach. They weren’t too happy about her conversing with the enemy. Walking along the edge of the shore, she kicked at a couple random rocks, her mind focused on one thing and one thing only.

How she was going to tell Jasper.

She was scared--no. Downright t e r r i f i e d. She’s heard about other Gems doing this, going through this, but she’d never thought she’d be one to go through with it. What was she even supposed to do with the thing once it hatched? ... what if there were more than one?

She hoped Jasper would meet her here so they could talk things over. Amethyst sat down, cross-legged, and exhaled a sigh.
