I know I said I'd start publishing the sequel to "I'll Keep You Safe" in June, but... well, I got excited about Royai Week prompts so that might not happen. But I'm still hard at work on it, and "Oh My Dear" *will* be out sometime this summer!

You answer the phone on the third ring, and I breathe a soft sigh of relief at the sound of your voice.

“Mustang.”

“It’s me.”

“Hawkeye?”

“Yeah.”

There’s a pause, and I re-adjust to hold the phone more securely between my ear and my shoulder.

“What’s the matter?” Your voice is soft and smooth like velvet, and it sends a shiver down my spine.

“I-I needed to hear your voice,” I whisper.

“What are you doing?” you ask softly.

“What do you think I’m doing?” I reply with a soft chuckle.

“I see,” you answer. I can hear the smirk on your face. “And you needed to hear my voice?”

“Yes, sir,” I gasp.

“Oh,” you purr over the line. “So you need me to tell you your orders, is that it, Lieutenant?”

“Please, sir,” I murmur into the receiver.

We almost never do this. It’s not safe or smart, but tonight…
