Steven Universe has been my favourite show since 2019 when I properly watched it from start to finish. I remember crying when I realized it was over, it was such a beautiful show that has forever lived in my heart.
I created this Future AU in October 2023 with a close friend who had also fallen in love with the franchise. I created Tous/Peridot, and soon after, my friend came to me with this outstanding creative idea for a character of her own. That's when I helped her design Opalite, a one of her kind artificially made gem prototype. The AU I set quite a while after the death of Steven himself.
A very brief rundown of the AU:
Opalite was artificially made by the Diamonds through a new project process that was left to beย developed by techย gems (like peridots)ย way back โ a bit before pink diamond was announced shattered. With the late Era 1 materials they had, itย was designed to use artificial materials for creating gems rather than using the minerals from organic planets. This would allowย gems to be made on Homeworld with 100% designed perfection, and no loss of their decreasing materials along with other reasons to soon be discovered.ย
The project was forgotten about through the SU saga until years after the man himself perished.ย It was discovered againย during White Diamondโs overpoweringย thirstย for a new era ofย conquering.
Opalite, the long-forgottenย prototype designย was already preparedย to be testedโฆ
Through the storyย she meets and becomes close toย Tous โ a funky little peridot who helps Opalite discoverย who she is in thisย empire, and universe.
During the story,ย Tousย and Opalite end up fusing. The before andย after story isโฆ lengthy so use yourย imagination for now. They become the beautiful Labradorite.
Along with Opaliteย living as a high-class gem, she was given a pearl to take care of her. I donโt currently have a design for her :(ย
