Aku is gay as shit…
Yeah, okay, I wanted to rant about something a bit different, and I’ve been putting it off because I know not everyone is gonna agree with me on this one, but can we all agree Aku is gay… or at the very least a character who doesn’t seem interested in women at all.
Now before you yell at me, yes, I know he kind of falls into the “unintentionally queer-coded villain” category. I mean, he is a queer-coded villain, for crying out loud. But when you look back at the show, it feels kind of obvious. Not only does he show zero real interest in women, but he also seems to enjoy… toying with Jack.
And not just as an enemy. It often feels like he’s genuinely invested in their dynamic. In later seasons especially, when the “game” stops feeling exciting for him, he basically spirals into boredom and depression. That whole scene where he’s “giving himself therapy” was meant to be comedic, but it reads more like someone stuck in a relationship that’s stagnating and desperately trying to recreate the spark.
Honestly, even if Aku did succeed in killing Jack, I don’t think he’d be satisfied. I think he’d just feel empty again.
There’s also that obvious comparison to Batman and the Joker—the whole “obsession that borders on intimacy” dynamic.
And then there’s that desert episode where Aku disguises himself as a woman… which, yeah, feels a little suspicious in hindsight. He could’ve easily taken any form, but he specifically went with a “beautiful woman” persona in a cunty outfit. At that point, it’s not subtle.
Honorable mention: the time they’re literally wrestling shirtless in the desert while Aku isn’t even disguised. Just two guys locked in an intense, weirdly passionate rivalry.
And if you still don’t believe me when the show finally got an adult rating and Aku somehow has seven daughters. He doesn’t even have sex with a woman…. he just put his uhhh evil juice (?) into a cup and the high priestess drinks, it and gives birth.
I don’t know what she was expecting,
but… good for her I guess…
It also doesn’t help that the guy doesn’t remember it you have 20 something years is a long time to us but to a demon that’s like maybe a couple of days maybe a couple of weeks it’s a short time to him at most it’s a long weekend …so I think if you were to place the situation into a realistic scenario, he was at a party, got blackout drunk and happened to sleep with a woman cause when you’re under the influence you don’t seem to notice I’m just saying you could totally accidentally have straight sex even if you’re gay…
So in conclusion, Aku is into men…
