A little #birthday #celebration for our #identicaltwinboys, #JackRiver (the one in the fotos) and #RobertWilliam (the one with the wings) 🎂 . This year, Jack wanted #strawberry #cheesecake. That's after two or three changes of mind. Typical Jack! 🍰 . Since #cancelculture has permeate ...everything... because of #COVID19, Jack (who has #ASD) didn't want to do ANYTHING by the time the 22nd started rolling around. He had had plans with #friends, so of course he was feeling very #disappointed. 🍰 . Then yesterday, #Sunday, the actual day hit. #ChloëRaine had to work all evening, and suddenly waiting for cake time was torture! He changed his mind again. I was glad. 🍰 . Also, Jack - who knows his #mama is having an extremely difficult time with her #kids being #AllGrownUp - sidled up behind me in the #morning while I was standing in front of the bathroom mirror, brushing my hair. 🍰 . He threw an arm around me and got his mouth very close to my ear. (He loves doing this to me lately.) "Mom," he started, "I'm seventeen now. And in one more year, I'm going to be an adult. On #Sunday, we celebrated our #identicaltwins' #17thbirthday: #JackRiver walks here on earth with us, while his #twinbrother #RobertWilliam awaits us above. 👼 . And now the vigil. Robby, our #angelbaby, was born at 12:21 PM on Saturday, 03/22/2003, and after a courageous fight, he passed into the next life almost exactly three days later. 👼 . So for these three days, every single year, #thismama observes the #vigil for that duration. It comes with being willed, unbidden, sometimes unwanted, and forces me to just be STILL and feel the full force of these #emotions. 👼 . A #mother is NOT defined by the #children you can see, but by the #love she holds in her heart. 👼 . Not all #twins walk side-by-side; sometimes one has wings to fly...! 👼 . Yes. It has been SEVENTEEN DAMN YEARS, and I am still grieving the loss of our son, of the ID twin Jack is forever missing, of the "other brother" that our #daughters will never know. I know as a mom that the reality is, I will be #grieving forever. FOREVER. 👼 . You don't "get over" the loss of your #baby; you simply slowly learn to live with it. You heal and rebuild yourself around your #infantloss, and you may become whole again - but you will never be the same.
