Beauâs POV
Beauâs grip tightened around Y/Nâs waist, and he stood from the sofa. Her legs quickly wrapped around him, and he walked them down the hall to his bedroom, their lips still attached and reluctant to part.
Placing her on his bed, he gently lay on top of her, continuing their kiss, allowing his hands to caress and squeeze all of her curves, grounding himself in the moment and committing it to his memory. This was something heâd only ever let himself dream of, and heâd be damned if he let himself forget this moment.
Y/Nâs hands trailed over his chest, undoing the buttons of his shirt and tugging it from his shoulders. The breath caught in his throat as her soft hands slid under his t-shirt and traced the contours of his muscled back.
Sitting on his knees, Beau pulled his t-shirt off and threw it to the floor. Reaching for Y/N, he pulled the zipper on the side of her skirt, tugged the material off her legs, and dropped it next to his discarded shirt. He busied himself with taking off his slacks, chuckling when her shirt flew past his face and landed at his feet.
Now both in their underwear, Beau watched Y/Nâs face closely and saw her anxiously chew on her bottom lip. âYouâre gorgeous, darlinâ,â he croaked, meaning it wholeheartedly. She was a beautiful woman, and he hoped that, over time, heâd be able to convince her of that.
âSo are you,â she smiled, crossing her arms over her body as though she was suddenly aware of how little clothing she was wearing.
âDonât cover yourself up. Please,â Beau murmured, crawling up her body and placing a warm, large hand on her cheek. âYouâre perfect.â
Beau dipped his head, pecking her lips sweetly before trailing a path of kisses, licks and gentle sucks over her jaw and neck. He dropped his lips lower and lower until they reached the swell of her breasts.
His hands skimmed over Y/Nâs warm skin, coming to rest on her breasts. He cupped them and flicked a thumb over each nipple, quickly bringing them to stiff peaks. Sliding his hands around her back, Beau pulled her into his chest and expertly unclasped her bra, quickly throwing it on the floor with the rest of their clothes.
Squeezing one of her nipples between his thumb and middle finger, Beau rubbed over it with his index finger as he trailed his lips over her breast and flicked his tongue across her other nipple.
âBeau!â Y/N gasped, sliding her hands into his hair and tugging.
It spurred him on, and he pulled her nipple into his mouth, rumbling a moan as he sucked and licked with enthusiasm, her other breast receiving lavish attention from his warm, large hand as it squeezed and caressed.
Pulling off, he blew gently on her spit-slicked nipple, making her jerk her hips into his, both of them groaning at the friction. Switching sides, he used his fingers to rub and spread the wetness heâd left on her puffy nipple into her skin.
Cautiously, Beau took Y/Nâs dry nipple between his teeth and scraped them gently over it. He hummed at her moan, flicking his tongue over her hard nub to soothe it from his nibbling teeth. When there was no protest, he placed her nipple between his teeth again, this time holding it there as he flicked his tongue against the sensitive skin.
He couldâve stayed there forever, just licking and sucking on her nipples, but they had time for that, and right now, as she slid her hands into his underwear and before they went any further, he needed to make sure she was ready. He needed to hear her tell him one more time that this is what she wanted.
Reluctantly, Beau grabbed her hands, placed one at each side of her head, and held them there. âY/N, please,â he whispered, his voice deep and gruff with his arousal. âI donât want to do this if youâre not ready, darlinâ.â
âI am, Beau. I promise.â
Y/Nâs POV
At her promise, Beauâs smile was dazzling, and he dipped his head and kissed her swollen lips once more. It was different this time, more frenzied as if her consent was the only thing heâd been holding back for.
It was sweet, Y/N thought, and just like him to insist that she give her consent twice. She respected him for it and appreciated it. Sex hadnât been on the cards for her when she was getting ready for their date. It just kind of happened, and that made it feel all the more right.
Beauâs hand trailed over her body, and shivers followed in their wake. Her small, dainty fingers had always managed to get the job done, as did the few toys she had hidden in a shoe box on top of her wardrobe, but her touch-starved body responded readily to him, and sheâd forgotten how good it felt when it was someone elseâs hands on her body.
His fingers ghosted down her stomach and into her panties, not wasting any time in finding their target. She smirked as her wetness made him choke on a curse. Beau let his fingers trace her mound, coating his thick digits in her arousal before he gently parted her silken lips and pushed his middle finger inside her.
Having Beauâs warm, strong hands on herâinside herâwas a level of euphoria sheâd forgotten existed and hoped would never end. The stretch she felt at taking only one of his fingers was unbelievable, but she knew itâd be nothing compared to what was still to come if the weight of the bulge resting on her inner thigh was anything to go by.
Y/N was roused from her thoughts when Beauâs finger slipped from her. He smirked at her whine and quickly removed her panties, dropping them off the bed to join the growing pile of their clothing, and gently pushed her legs open.
âGorgeous,â he murmured, his eyes locked on her dripping heat. His gaze didnât falter as he stood from the bed, pushed his underwear down, quickly stepped out of them, and crawled back onto the bed.
âCan I taste you?â Beau asked, and she nodded, not trusting her brain and her voice to cooperate and form words.
Settling himself between her legs, he curled his arms under her thighs and lowered his head to her folds. The first swipe of his tongue was tentative and gentle, but it was enough to make Y/Nâs eyes roll.
âBeau!â she moaned, arching her back and threading her fingers through his hair.
âYou taste good, darlinâ,â he moaned, placing two fingers at her entrance and pushing them in slowly.
Y/N gasped at the intrusion, making him grin into her slick folds. Beau took his time tasting her, building her orgasm with soft licks and sucks and the lazy pumping of his fingers.
When she finally tumbled over the edge, it was with an intensity sheâd never known before. Every nerve in her body was vibrating like it had been awakened from some deep, hidden place inside her and was enjoying pleasure for the first time.
Beauâs lips on her neck brought her back to her senses, but her body was still humming from the pent-up release of sexual energy and, quite frankly, the utterly mind-blowing orgasm heâd pulled from her using only his lips and hands.
He pulled away from her, making her shiver from the loss of his body heat. He pulled open the drawer of his nightstand, reached in for a condom, swiftly put it on, and covered her body with his once more.
âAre you still sure about this? We can stop,â Beau whispered between gentle pecks to her lips.
âIâm sure.â Y/N cupped his cheeks as she said it, making sure she was looking into his eyes when she answered. It was clearly important to him that she wanted this, and sheâd happily tell him a thousand times that she was ready and wanted to take this next step with him if he needed her to.
Beauâs wide smile crinkled the corners of his green eyes, and they glinted with pure happiness at her answer. He kissed her with passion, and the fire that had been reduced to simmering embers by the first orgasm he gave her quickly roared back to life.
Widening her legs to let Beau get closer, she wrapped her arms around him. Y/N smirked into his kiss as she felt the muscles in his perfectly sculpted back twitch under her touch.
In an effortless manoeuvre, Beau slid his throbbing cock into her with a loud, satisfying groan, and Y/N whimpered as her walls stretched and fluttered to accommodate him.
âFuck!â he gasped. âDarlinâ, are you okay? I know itâs been a while, but damn it, youâre tight, and I donât want to hurt you.â
âYouâre not going to hurt me, Beau. I promise.â She leaned up and kissed him, and as his warm, strong hands softly trailed over her waist, past her hips, and over her thighs, her entire body melted into the mattress, and she relaxed with a contented whine. He slowly began to move his hips, grunting each time her nails dug into his back with every sweet moan he pulled from her.
Y/N was lost entirely in him: his sexy grunts and moans as he enjoyed her body; the way his strong hands were surprisingly gentle as they trailed over every inch of her they could reach; the way he held her gaze, searching her soul with every thrust of his hips.
It was too much, and as much as she wanted this to last forever, she quickly reached her peak. Beau had noticed how close she was too, and with a quick adjustment of his hips, he made enough space between them to slip his hand in and toy with her clit.
âBeau!â she moaned, her hands trailing up the length of his back and settling in his hair. She tugged gently on the long, silky strands and shivered at his groan of approval.Â
âWhat do you need, darlinâ? Tell me,â he murmured, his warm breath tickling her neck.
âJust you, Beau.â With that, her release hit strong and hard, bringing Beau with her and with it, a whole new meaning and understanding of sex. One she couldnât wait to explore more with him.
Y/N had â and always would â protect Mia with everything she had, but right now, lying on Beauâs chest with his arms wrapped around her and his fingers drawing lazy patterns on her back, she felt safe and protected for the first time in a long time. Being so vulnerable with someone after such a long time was a welcome change.
âWhat are you thinking about?â Beau asked, placing a soft kiss on her head.
âIâm thinking about how Iâm feeling safe and protected. Itâs been so long that I forgot how good it feels.â
âNo regrets then?â He chuckled, but Y/N knew him well enough to detect the worry and turned her head to look at him.
âNo. Not a single one.â
His boyish grin melted her heart, and she knew she had it bad for the sheriff.
âFor the record, me either. I have wanted a night like this with you for a long time,â Beau said, panicking when he saw her raised eyebrow.
âNot the sex! I mean, yes, the sex,â he smirked. âThe sex was out of this world amazing! It wasâŠâ he chewed on his bottom lip and chuckled before he checked himself and cleared his throat.
âLet me try that again,â he said, and she laughed. âI meant, I have wanted to take you out on a date for a long time. This â the sex â was a huge bonus that I wasnât expecting to happen today. But Iâm glad that it did.â
âMe too.â Y/N pushed up and kissed him. It was slow and sweet at first, but the embers soon reignited, and after a few minutes of their passionate makeout session, Y/N pulled away.
âBeau,â she gasped breathlessly. âIâm sorry, I need to go home.âÂ
He looked taken aback and a little hurt at her bluntness, and she couldâve kicked herself for not being gentler in her approach.
âI havenât been away from Mia overnight ever. And Iâm not saying itâll never happen. Itâs just, sheâs only just found out tonight that I was going out with a man, and she doesnât know itâs you yetââ
âYet?â Beauâs eyes lit up. âYou want to tell her?â
âI do. I wanted to tell her tonight before our date, but I needed to know that you and meâthis, us, was right before I did. She loves you, Beau. And weâre neighbours, and if things didnât seem like theyâd work out, I didnât want her getting hurt.â
âAnd things are?â Beau questioned. âRight, I mean,â he added at her frown of confusion.
âYes.â She was so sure that she answered with complete conviction. âAt least, I think they are.â Now she was doubting herself, doubting what her gut had been telling her for six weeks.
âThey are, darlinâ. I just want to make sure you meant it. Youâre right. About everything, I know I hold a special place in Miaâs heart. Yours too, I hope,â he chuckled. âAnd if you think sheâs ready to know about me, about us, then I trust you completely.â
âI do. But as I was saying, I havenât gone a single night without her, and I donât want her to find out about us by me coming home wearing last nightâs clothes with my hair a complete birdâs nest while sheâs eating breakfast and my mother gives me that shit-eating grin that makes me want to slap the smugness right off of her face!â Beau laughed, and she chuckled.
âI donât want her associating us dating as me not being home when she wakes up. And youâre the first person Iâve dated, so how I â we â handle things will be her first experience of a relationship.â
âYouâre a great mother, Y/N. Donât doubt that. Ever,â Beau smiled at her. âWeâll do this at your pace and in whatever way is best for Mia.â
âWhat about Emily?â she asked, not wanting to exclude the other child in their relationshipâs feelings.
âEmily is much older than Mia. She understands a lot more that, as her father, Iâd rather not know that she understood!â Y/N giggled. âCarla and Avery are going out of town tomorrow for the night, and sheâs staying with me, so Iâll talk to her about us then.â
âAnd if Emily and Mia donât like the idea that weâre together?â she bit her lip anxiously.
âI donât think thatâll happen, but if it does, you and I will sit down and talk it through, alright?â
âOkay,â she smiled, happy they were on the same page.
âAlright then. Iâm gonna get dressed and walk you home.â
âBeau, thereâs no need for that. Iâm just next door!â
âDonât argue with me! Iâm walking you home.â

Six Weeks Later
Y/Nâs POV
âYou look so pretty, Mommy,â Mia sighed, her eyes wide with awe as she watched Y/N apply her makeup.
âThank you, baby,â Y/N smiled, putting down her blusher brush and fussing with her hair again.
âGrandma said youâre going for dinner with a friend.â Mia was swinging her legs off the side of the king-size bed that swallowed the four-year-old, and Y/N chuckled.
âI am,â Y/N confirmed. âGrandma insisted she have some time with just her and her favourite granddaughter while she was in town.â
âAre you going out with a boy?âÂ
âWhat makes you ask that?â Y/N chuckled.
âBecause you look prettier than usual, and I heard Grandma say yesterday that it was about time you found a man,â Mia stated matter-of-factly, making Y/N laugh loudly.
âYes, Mia. Iâm going out with a boy,â she smiled at her daughter. âHow do you feel about that?â It didnât hurt to try and find out how she felt about it.
âIs he nice?â she asked, her innocence shining through.
âHe is.â
âDoes he make you laugh?â
âAll the time,â Y/N giggled.
âWill I like him?â Miaâs voice was a little more cautious, and Y/N wanted to tell her there and then that it was Beau, but she needed to be sure what they had was the real deal.
âYes, baby. I know youâre going to love him. But if you donât, you tell Mommy and weâll talk about it, okay?â
âYes, Mommy,â
âPinky Promise?â Y/N smirked, holding her pinky finger out for Mia to clasp with hers.
âDouble Pinky Promise!â Mia grinned, holding both little fingers out to her mom, and they clasped them together with giggles.
âCome on, Y/N/N,â her mom said from her bedroom door. âYouâre late.â
âAlright, Iâm going!â She kissed Miaâs head and smiled. âBe good for Grandma, okay?â
âI promise, Mommy.â
âAnd mom,â Y/N turned her attention to her mother. âBehave!â she grinned.
âOh, honey, I never promise to behave!â
âIâm sorry Iâm late,â Y/N said as she walked over to the table where Beau was seated. âThere was a whole thing with Mia and my mother.â
âIs everything alright?â Beau asked as he stood from his seat, walked around the table and pulled the other chair out, helping her remove her coat and pushing her chair in once sheâd settled.
âOh, itâs nothing. Mia was asking questions about where I was going and with whom, and my mom was beingâŠâ She gestured her hands, looking for the right word. âMy mom, I guess!â
âI canât wait to meet her!â Beau chuckled.
âOh, I can,â she huffed playfully, making him laugh heartily.
âSeriously, Y/N. Iâm glad you came,â he smiled softly.
âYou didnât think Iâd stood you up, did you?â she smirked.
She knew Beau had barely closed over scars from the wounds Carla had inflicted on him. His anxiety that she would stand him up was proof of that, but she was quickly falling in love with him and even though they were taking things slowly, heâd completely turned her life upside down, and she was willing to give this new relationship with the handsome Sheriff everything she had.
âI know itâs been a while since both of us have dated, and I know you have a lot more at stake than I do with Mia being so young, so, yeah⊠I did have a small panic that you mightâve stood me up. Iâm glad you didnât, and you look stunning,â Beau winked and ordered a bottle of her favourite wine and two glasses from the waiter when he appeared at their table.
Their meal was delicious, and the easy flow of conversation and subtle flirting was everything Y/N couldâve hoped for and more on her first official date since Miaâs father. She couldnât remember ever being on a better dateâfirst or otherwiseâand Beauâs caring and curious attention never wavered from her, making her feel like she was the only woman in the world.
âWhat do you say to sharing dessert with me?â Beau smiled softly at her. âI could really go for a slice of pie or something.â
âSure, Iâd like that.â Y/Nâs phone beeped, signalling an incoming text. âPlease excuse me. Itâs from my mom,â she told Beau, unlocking her phone to read the message.
Mom:
Miaâs asleep. She went down with no trouble and is out like a light! Iâve got things here if you want to spend the night at Beauâs. Just saying đ xxx
âIs Mia alright?â Beau asked, concerned at the change in her demeanour.
âUhm, yeah. Miaâs fine.â
âAre you alright?â he asked next. He didnât want to pry, but he was curious about what could have happened to charge the air between them with so much tension.
âYeah, Iâm sorry. Itâs just my mom being my mom,â she chuckled at repeating her earlier words.
âDoes she not approve or something?â Y/N glanced at him, trying not to laugh at how endearing she found his unnecessary insecurity.
âThe opposite, actually,â she smiled, handing her phone across the table for him to read.
âOh,â Beau blushed, his Adamâs Apple bobbing with his nerves.
âI didnât show you that to suggest that we shouldââ
âNo. Uh, no. Of course you didnât. Why would you?â Beau shrugged with a scoffed chuckle. âI mean, not that I donât want to, because darlinâ, nothing would make me happier. But itâs not expected. And I know you might not be ready. Or even want toââ
âCan I get you any desserts or coffee?â The waiter interrupted Beauâs nervous rambling, and Y/N laughed as he looked at her, not sure if sharing a slice of pie was still an option.
âYes, please. Weâll share the apple pie, please,â she answered for them, not wanting her momâs message to end their date early.
âExcellent choice! Itâll be right out with that,â the waiter smiled.
âBeau, are you okay?â Y/N asked nervously.
âUh⊠yeah?â he questioned rather than stated.
âListen, Beau. Iâm sorry if sharing that message made you uncomfortable. It wasnât my intention, and Iâm not expecting anything either. Like you, I would love nothing moreââ
âYou would?â he asked, his eyes flashing with excitement.
âYes,â she smiled coyly. âBut I think we need to talk about what comes next before we jump into bed.â
âYour apple pie,â the waiter said, awkwardly clearing his throat, his cheeks flushing as he scurried away as soon as heâd laid the plate on their table.
âOh, God!â Y/N groaned, putting her head in her hands. âThis is turning into a disaster!â
âI disagree,â Beau grinned, picking up a spoon. âThis is the best date ever!â
âShut up!â she reached across the table and playfully hit his arm.
âWhat? Iâm serious!â he chuckled, digging the spoon into the pie. âAnd youâre adorable when you get embarrassed.â He shoved the pie in his mouth and gave her a mischievous grin.
âHey, why donât we finish this,â he gestured to the pie, âand then we can go to my place for coffeeâNo. Not that kind of coffee,â he chuckled at her smirk. âI mean proper, actual coffee, and we can talk about where we are and what happens next.â
âYeah. Iâd like that.â
âThank you,â Y/N smiled as Beau handed her a mug of steaming hot coffee and sat beside her on the sofa.
âAlright, tell me how you wanna do this, darlinâ. Iâll go first if you need time to sort through your thoughts. Or, if youâre ready now, Iâm listening.â
âIâm just gonna say this and not overthink it because if I do, I donât think Iâll ever say it and itâs something I think Iâd want to know about a new partner.â Her voice was shaky, and Beau knew she was nervous about whatever she had to tell him.
âItâs okay, darlinâ. Iâm listening.â He didnât want to let on how worried he was about what she had to say, so he kept his voice calm and firm and gently took her hand.
âI havenât had sex in a long time,â she blurted before she could change her mind.
âOkay,â Beau kept his tone neutral and calm. âCan I ask how long âlongâ is?â
âThe last person was Miaâs father.â
âFour years,â Beau guessed.
âWell, he left me when I was five weeks pregnant, so technically⊠five years.â
âFive!â Beau was stunned. âThat is a long time. And I thought I hadnât had sex in a long time, but five years? Wow.â
âAre you okay?â Y/N frowned.
âAre you?â he countered with a raised eyebrow. âPlease tell me youâve at least gotten yourself off?â
âBeau!â she gasped and put her head in her hands.
âHey, there ainât nothing wrong with a little self-lovinâ, darlinâ! Hell, I think itâs sexy knowing a woman does it.â
It was then that Y/Nâs phone beeped again. She glanced at the screen, saw it was her mom, and quickly picked up the device.
Mom
I see you took my advice and went home with Beau. Thatâs my girl! xxx
You
Mom, weâre just talking xxx
Mom
Is that what the kids are calling it these days? đ xxx
âSorry. That was my mom checking in, but everythingâs fine,â she sighed.
âReally?â Beau smirked. âYouâre not trying to get out of answering my question, are you?â
âYou want me to give you my phone so you can read it?â she laughed.
âNo, thank you. Thatâs what got us into this mess in the first place!â Beau chuckled. âSeriously, darlinâ, Iâm sorry if Iâm coming across as pushy or if Iâm making you uncomfortableââ
âYouâre not,â Y/N interrupted. âI feel like you have the right to know. And I do get myself off. Regularly. Iâm human,â she shrugged. âAnd I have needs.â
âYeah, girl! And to think all this time, I was right next door. We couldâve been helping each other out!â Y/Nâs scowl quickly wiped the grin from his face.
âCan we focus, please?â
âSorry,â Beau cleared his throat. âWhat makes you think I deserve to know about this? Not that Iâm not grateful that you told me; Iâm just curious.â
âWeâre dating, right?â she asked, and he nodded. âSo, youâre my boyfriend. And you should know that I want to have a physical relationship with you, but Iâm nervous because it feels like it was a lifetime ago the last time I⊠you know⊠went there with someone.â
âI know, darlinâ. But thereâs no rush, alright? I canât wait to start that part of our relationship, but we donât need to put a time on it. At no point am I going to expect sex from you. Ever. I hope you know that, and if youâre not ready, youâre not ready. Iâm not going to force it or try to change your mind.â
âWhat if I am ready?â she whispered.
âYou are?â Beau checked.
âYes. But if youâre not, itâs fine. The forcing you thing goes both ways,â Y/N smiled softly.
âOh, darlinâ. Iâm ready. I promise you. But if youâre nervous, we can wait.â
Y/N didnât answer him. Instead, she leaned forward, placed her lips on his and gently raked her nails up his neck and into his hair. Beau whined at the sensation of her playing with his hair, and she used the opportunity to slide her tongue against his.
Theyâd made out a lot in the past six weeks, but this kiss became hot and heavy fast; Beauâs hands slid up her shirt, caressing the smooth skin of her back, and Y/N was quick in taking up residence on his lap, straddling his thighs and kissing him like there was no tomorrow.
âY/N,â Beau gasped when they pulled apart for much-needed oxygen. âDarlinâ, are you absolutely sure about this?â

Jensen made sure to arrive twenty minutes early. The last thing he wanted to do was be lateâor worse, for Y/N to arrive before him. It also meant he could partake in a little Dutch courage to try and settle his nerves a bit. Not until he arrived at the bar did he realise just how much this meeting meant to him. She said it herself; they lived in the same city again and they couldnât keep avoiding each other every time the Padaleckiâs had a party. It wasnât fair on either of them, or on Jared, Gen, and the kids.
âScotch, neat, and can you make it a double?â he requested from the bartender as he sat in a barstool facing the entrance so he could see Y/N come in without looking like a meerkat at every flash of movement that caught his eye. âThanks,â he nodded, handing twenty dollars over when the crystal tumbler was placed in front of him.
âDo you need change?â he asked.
âNo,â Jensen shook his head. âItâs all good, thanks.â
He sipped his whisky slowly trying to practice their conversation in his head, but it didnât do any good. Everything he thought to say sounded too forced, too desperate, or too nosy.
As he finished his whisky, Y/N walked through the door, and his mind went completely blank, forgetting every topic of conversation and every question heâd thought to ask. She looked stunning in the most understated way. A white V-neck shirt tucked into dark wash jeans, a smart black blazer, and a pair of heels. Her make-up was done in the way heâd always preferred on women: natural and minimal, to the extent she looked like she wasnât wearing any at all.
She was perfect, and not for the first time, he cursed himself for ever letting her go. For not fighting harder. For breaking her heart and letting her down.
Y/Nâs eyes casually scanned the bar and when they reached him, he raised his hand in a wave so she would see him. The way her shoulders relaxed when she saw him made him smile, and he wondered if sheâd been just as nervous as he was about being stood up.
As she walked towards him, Jensen stood from the barstool to greet her. It took everything he had not to kiss her cheek when she stopped in front of him, but instead, he settled on a warm smile.
âIâm glad you came,â he chuckled softly.
âYou thought I wouldnât?â Y/N smirked, watching as he nervously ran his hand through his hair.
âKinda!â he chuckled. âI put you on the spot earlier when I asked you how youâd been. I donât have the right to ask, and I donât have the right to know. Iâd have understood if you stood me up.â
Y/N frowned at Jensenâs choice of words. This wasnât a date, no matter how much she wanted it to be, so she tried not to dwell on it or any hidden meaning that might have been behind them.Â
âSo,â she cleared her throat, âare we getting a table or do you want to sit at the bar?â
âIâd like to get a table, but if youâd be more comfortable at the bar, Iâm fine with that,â Jensen answered.
âA table would be great,â she replied, smiling that he was still as chivalrous as she remembered.
âOkay, great!â
Jensen held his arm out for her to take and she quickly linked hers with it. He led them to a quiet, intimate table for two at the back of the bar where they wouldnât be disturbed by patrons queuing for drinks or people coming and going from the restrooms.
He pulled her chair out for her and once again, she found herself enamoured by his gentlemanly manners. âThank you, Jensen.â
âYouâre welcome, Y/N.â Jensenâs smile was wide and contagious, and the sparkle in his green eyes was brighter than she ever remembered seeing it. She couldnât help wondering if it was the low, atmospheric lighting, or if their spark was reigniting.
As they settled into their seats, the silence and tension between them grew to an unbearable level. Y/N was about to bite the bullet and tell him that this was a bad idea when a waiter approached to take their drinks order.
Jensen ordered a beer with an ease that instantly diffused some of the tension she was feeling, making her wonder if it was only her that felt the awkward air surrounding and suffocating her.
âMerlot,â she blurted when the waiter asked her what drink she wanted for the second time. âA really large glass of Merlot, please.â
âOf course,â the waiter nodded and left them to their awkwardness once again.
âWhat?â Y/N frowned at hearing Jensenâs chuckle.
âNervous?â he smirked and she narrowed her eyes.
âYouâre not?â
âI am. But you look like youâre plotting a prison break!â Y/N laughed, breaking the remaining tension between her and Jensen. âThere she is!â he chuckled. âYou had me worried for a second!â
âIâm sorry. This isâŠâ Y/N gestured wildly with her hands trying to find a word that wouldnât offend him.
âAwkward?â Jensen offered. âYeah, it is.â he agreed and took a swig of his beer, watching as she took a long swallow of her wine.
âBut it doesnât have to be,â he added, putting his bottle back on the table and making himself comfortable on the faux leather armchair. âSo, since I asked you here, itâs only fair that my interrogation is first.â
âInterrogation?â she chuckled. âWhy so serious!â Jensen threw his head back in laughter and she grinned. Sheâd missed his laugh.
âMaybe that was a little strong!â he smirked.
âYou think? Iâm about ready to get a cab home!â she laughed.
âOkay, how about reacquainting? Is that better?â
âMuch,â Y/N grinned. âSo, tell me about Paris.â
Jensen spent over an hour talking about himself, his time in Paris that led to him getting a dream position in a very successful New York restaurant, and his latest venture into owning his own place.
âSauvage. I like it. It suits you,â Y/N grinned as he finished his story. âIâm so happy everything worked out for you, Jensen. Truly.â
âThank you. It came at the sacrifice of any kind of personal life, but Iâm hoping it pays off,â he chuckled.
âI have no doubt it will. Everything youâve worked so hard towards will be worth it when you see your restaurant full of happy diners.â Y/N swallowed the last mouthful of her wine and gestured to the waiter for another round of drinks.
âSo, I guess itâs your turn,â Jensen said.
âI guess so,â she cleared her throat and thanked the waiter for her second glass of wine. âWhat do you want to know?â
âHowâs work?â Jensen started with the perfect icebreaker. She loved her job when they were dating, and he was pretty sure sheâd still love it now.
âGreat!â Y/Nâs smile lit up her face and made her eyes sparkle. âI have my own family practice and see patients part time. The rest of the time is paperwork and the day-to-day running of things. I have an amazing office manager though, who helps with a lot of the admin.â
âWow! Your own practice? Looks like Iâm not the only one living their dream!â Jensen smiled.
âYeah, well, you worked hard for yours. Mine kinda just fell into my lap!â she chuckled, and he tilted his head in a silent question.
âIâd been out for drinks with a group of friends and I ran into Eddie Simpson. We both specialised in family medicine at Harvard and shared classes together there. He was working in a practice and told me they were looking for a new pediatrician.
âLong story short, I got the job, and when the original owner, Dr Reynolds retired, Eddie and I bought him out, and Iâve been there ever since,â Y/N explained.
âIs Eddie still your business partner?â Jensen asked.
âAh, now that brings us to the personal part of my life!â she chuckled sadly.
âIâm listening,â he said softly, and she smiled wearily.
âNot long after I started working at the practice, Eddie and I started dating. Heâs a really great guy and he treated me well. We got married,â she sighed and paused, her memories making her smile slightly, making Jensen curious as to why things didnât work between them.
âBut we shouldnât have,â she continued. âI had my doubts that accepting his proposal was the right thing to do, but I wanted what everyone else had. I wanted a partner and a best friend. Someone whoâd always have my back.â Y/N paused again to take a long sip of wine.
âI got all of it from him, but I didnât love him. I mean, I loved him⊠I still love him. Iâm just not in love with him. Iâm not sure that I ever was.
âHe met someone else,â she smiled softly at Jensenâs scathing expression. âHe never cheated on me. But when he met Laura, he realised the way he felt about her should have been the way he felt about me.â
It hadnât been as heartbreaking as she imagined the news wouldâve been had she been in love with Eddie. In fact, itâd been a relief. It meant they could part ways amicably and without anyone getting hurt. They loved each other, they just werenât in love, and theyâd managed to get through their separation and subsequent divorce and still be friends.
âWhen we separated, Eddie decided to move to Houston. Itâs where Laura is from originally. When we sold our house, I offered to buy Eddie out of the practice and become its sole owner. He agreed and⊠here we are,â Y/N picked up her wine glass with a shrug, and took another healthy swallow from it.
âWhat about you?â She cleared her throat and placed her glass back on the table. There was no need to elaborate because they both knew she was referring to his love life.
âDo you want the truth or the polite answer?â Jensen chuckled.
âThe polite answer, obviously,â she grinned.
âAlright, but remember you asked for it!â he laughed and took a long drag of his beer.
âI tried to date after⊠but no one ever came close to you. So, I threw myself into work and dated casually. Even that wasnât⊠it didnât feel right. It always felt like I was cheating.
âI know we werenât together very long,â Jensen drained the rest of his beer. âBut what we had was intense and all consuming. It was the real deal. I have no doubt whatsoever about that.âÂ
Y/N may have managed to move on and get married, but he never could. It had only ever been her. It still was and it always would be. He knew that now just as much as heâd known it back then.Â
But back then, he couldnât see the wood for the trees, and he thought itâd be easier for both of them â no, him â and his feelings to end it. Part of him held onto the hope that sheâd wait for him. That sheâd still be there when he came back from Paris, but she wasnât. And it was only then that he realised just how big of a mistake heâd made because he knew her. And he knew that if theyâd separated before he went to Paris, she would have waited for him. But he fucked up in so many ways, the first being his insistence that they stay together.
âIâm so sorry,â Jensen sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. âI just wish Iâd tried harderâfought harder for you.â
âNo, you donât, Jensen. You wouldnât be where you are now if weâd stayed together.â He knew she was right, but the shame and the guilt of what heâd put them both through was still as raw as it was then.
âI donât care. None of it makes up for the future I couldâve had with you,â he fumed. âOne where both of us wouldâve been happy.â
âMaybe not. But neither of us would be who we are or where we are now, and everything happens for a reason. If I didnât believe that, Iâd never have survived us breaking up.â
âI still love you,â Jensen bravely admitted. If he didnât do it now, he knew heâd let her walk out of here without telling her. âI never stopped.â
âMe either,â she replied.
âCan I kiss you?â He didnât know where it came from, but it was out now and he couldnât take it back.
âYou better!â Y/N giggled, leaning forward to meet Jensenâs plump, perfect lips with hers.
The kiss was everything and more. Y/N felt the butterflies swarming the second their lips touched. Her heart skipped a beat before hammering twofold when Jensenâs tongue traced across her bottom lip.
She opened her mouth, whimpering as their tongues grazed. It was warm and passionate, familiar and comforting all at the same time. It was perfect. He was perfect. And Y/N finally felt like she was home.
âCan we, uhm,â Y/N murmured against his lips having had to pull away for some much needed oxygen. âCan we get out of here?â
Jensen smirked at Y/Nâs red and swollen lips, proud that heâd been the one to make them that way.
âTogether?â he asked, hoping it was but not wanting to assume.
âYes,â she answered, her voice raspy with arousal.

As soon as Jensen had left the Padalecki house, he called Y/N from the car, needing to tell her about Paris sooner rather than later. He didnât want to dwell on the news, he didnât want to talk himself out of anything, and most importantly, he didnât want to hide it from her. She was his girlfriendâthe woman heâd bought a ring forâhe loved her, and she needed to be a part of his decision.
âWell, hey there, handsome!â Jensen could hear Y/Nâs smile in her voice, and his heart skipped a beat. âWhat a surprise! To what do I owe the pleasure?â
âHey, darlinâ. I was just calling to see if youâd mind changing the venue for date night tonight,â he asked, feeling the nerves creep in.
âAre you okay, baby? If you want to raincheck, Iâm fine with that.â Her worry made his heart soar, and his mind wandered to everything that might not go to plan tonight.
âIâm fine, Y/N. I promise. I just wanted to wine and dine you at my house tonight, thatâs all. You know I love taking you out on the town and showing you off, but I really just want it to be us all night.â
âYou know, that sounds even better than a night on the town, actually!â Y/N chuckled softly down the phone. âIâm not feeling much like going out tonight myself.â
âNo? Is everything okay?â he asked, concerned for her well-being.
âYeah, itâs been a hell of a week at work, and Iâm tired. Honestly, the thought of going home and showering, shaving, and dressing up, Iâd much prefer coming over there and chilling with dinner and some wine. You are cooking, right?â
âOf course I am!â he laughed. Y/N always told him how much she loved his cooking, but nothing proved it to him like her practically begging him to make dinner. âDo you have any special requests for the menu?â
âNope. Surprise me, Chef Ackles!â Y/N giggled.
âYes, maâam! Iâll see you after work?â Jensen checked with her, ensuring she wasnât planning to go home first.
âYeah, Iâll come straight over when I finish up here. Let me know if you need anything from the grocery store and Iâll pick it up on my way over.â
âOkay, darlinâ. Iâll see you later.â
âSee you later, Jay. I love you.â
âLove you, too.â
Y/N knocked on Jensenâs door just as he took the dish filled to the brim with roasted vegetables out of the oven. He let her into his apartment, greeting her with a hug and a soft kiss.
âHow was your day, darlinâ?â he asked, helping Y/N shrug her jacket off and hang it on the coat hook beside the door.
âBusy, but good. How was your day off?â she responded, smiling as Jensenâs hand rested on her lower back to guide her to his kitchen.
âGood. I went to see Jared,â he told her as he took a wine glass from the cupboard and filled it with the red heâd opened and left breathing on the counter.
âOh, how is he? I didnât get to see him the other day when I stopped by to see Gen,â Y/N said, humming when she took a sip of wine.
âHeâs great. Married life seems to suit him!â he chuckled.Â
Jensen plated up their meal, and they talked about their day while they ate. As always, Y/N had been exceptionally complimentary about the meal and his cooking, which eased his nerves a little. Still, as the night wore on, he knew he was becoming more withdrawn at thinking about what he needed to tell her.
In true Y/N fashion, she knew he was distracted by something that was playing on his mind, but she was kind enough to wait until he was ready to speak before pressing him about it. That was one of the things he loved about herâshe just always knew, yet she never pushed. She just made sure he knew she was there for him and would listen when he was ready to talk.
âDo you want some more wine?â she asked him, picking up the bottle and holding it out.
âUh, no, thank you. Iâm good, but you go ahead.â He wanted nothing more than another glass of wine, fuck; he wanted the entire bottle of Scotch that was in the cabinet behind him. But he needed to be sober to have this conversation with her.
âSo, I need to talk to you about something,â he blurted, regretting his approach instantly as Y/N looked at him panicked.
âOkay,â she blinked. âIs everything okay, Jensen?â
âYes. No. Iâ I honestly donât know,â Jensen chuckled, not knowing how he was feeling or where to start.
âItâs alright, Jay. Whatever it is thatâs going on, you can tell me. You can talk to me.â
âHereâs the thing. Iâve been given an opportunity that Iâd given up all hope of ever getting. Itâs been years, so Iâd kinda forgotten about it, but now, IâŠâ he trailed off with a huff and a shake of his head.
âWhat is it, Jensen,â she asked softly, placing her hand on his to comfort and encourage him.
âWhen I first became a chef, I applied to Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, but the waitlist was years long, and the only way to fast-track it was to have a recommendation from a previous student, so I just kinda forgot about it.â It was true; Jensen had completely forgotten that it was even his ambition to go to culinary school. It wasnât until he received an invitation that he remembered that passion.
âBut, with all the new dishes Iâve been creating at work, and how well theyâve gone down, Chef Martin reached out to an old buddy of his and recommended me for a place at his school.â He paused briefly to gauge Y/Nâs reaction to the news, but she wasnât giving anything away. She was just listening intently.
âItâs for three years, but after two, Iâd have the opportunity to apply for an internship at a Michelin-star restaurant to further my training if I wanted to,â he finished, taking her hand and lifting it to kiss her knuckles.
âWow, Jensen!â she beamed widely. âThatâs amazing!â
âYeah?â he asked, concerned she was only being kind.
âAre you kidding? Jay, itâs the opportunity of a lifetime! And itâs completely deserved. All the hard work youâve put in has paid off! You must be excited!â
âYes and no,â he answered honestly.Â
âYou are going, right?â she checked at his hesitant tone.
âWell, that depends on you.â
âIâm sorry, what?â she said, causing Jensen to laugh at the dumbfounded look on her face.
âIt depends on you,â he shrugged. âI want to go, but I want you to come with me. I know itâs impractical and will never happen for so many reasons, but the only guarantee that Iâll accept this offer is if youâre with me.â
âThen we need to talk about us because I canât go, Jensen. I want to. So much. But my parents are ill, and I donât know a lot of French, which means I canât work because Iâm pretty sure itâd be compulsory for a pediatrician to speak the language, and I might not even be qualified in France, and you need to go. You just need to because this is your dream, and you canât pass it up because of me, andââ
âIâm sorry,â Y/N took a deep breath to calm herself down. âYou need to go, Jensen. Youâll never forgive yourself if you donât. And Iâll never forgive myself if Iâm the reason for you not going.â
âAre you sure, darlinâ?â
âYes,â she nodded. âYou need to do this, and as much as I want to, I canât go with you. Not in the near future, anyway. So, itâs probably best to end this before we get in much deeper, or maybe take a break?â
âNo,â Jensen shook his head. âAbsolutely not.â
âCome on, Jensen! Weâre not talking about a few states over, and an hourâs time difference here; weâre talking about a twelve-hour flight and an eight-hour time difference!â Y/N said, taking Jensenâs hand and holding it with so much love and tenderness. As if itâd be the last time she ever got to hold it.
âAnd itâs not even just the time difference. Weâre going to be living completely different lives for three years. We canât expect each other to wait that long. Weâll be lonely; there will be so many opportunities to meet other people, for us to fall out of love, and to do something to hurt each other.â
âDarlinâ, I know. And I know itâll be hard, but we can do it. Unless you donât want to,â Jensen asked, suddenly nervous that this wouldnât go the way heâd planned it would.
âOf course I do. I love you. More than you could possibly imagine, the last thing I want is to end things between us, but I just canât see how to make it work at that distance,â Y/N tried to reason.
âBecause Iâll make it work, darlinâ. I promise. Iâll text you every day and call you a few times a week. We can have Skype dates. Iâll be on the first flight back to Austin every chance I get. And listen, if youâre still not sure how serious I am.â Jensen stood from his stool and left the kitchen, appearing back at her side a minute later.
âI bought this for you six weeks ago.â He placed a black velvet ring box before her and opened it, showing her the most beautiful diamond ring sheâd ever seen.
âI bought this six weeks ago,â he repeated. âThe only reason I havenât asked you to marry me yet is because I thought it was too soon.â
âJensen, Iââ
âIâll make it work, Y/N,â he stared deep into her eyes, love and truth shining so clearly that no one could misinterpret it. âI promise.â
âOkay,â Y/N said, trusting his promise and willing to keep their relationship going while separated by an ocean. âThen I trust you.â
Four Months Later
Y/N got Jensenâs voicemail for the third time that weekâeleventh that monthâand huffed as she hit the end call button. Long distance had started well, and Jensen had kept to his promise, but lately, staying in touch was getting harder and harder, and heâd rainchecked on their last two Skype dates.
She always called before she went to bed, which was 7 AM Paris time, but he barely answered these days. And when he did, he quickly ushered her off the phone saying heâd call when he finished his classes, but that was always at the start of her work day.
They usually managed a semi-normal phone call at some point over the weekend, but this weekend, Jensen wouldâve found a total of seven missed calls from her by Sunday night, and when he called her back, it was 3 AM in Austin, and she was sound asleep and had been for hours. It was now Thursday, and they still hadnât spoken. And Jensen hadnât tried to call her back.
She pinched the bridge of her nose to stop the tears threatening to fall. How the hell was she supposed to do this for another two and a half years? Switching her phone to silent, she got into bed and turned out the light.
The alarm blaring woke Y/N with a start. Sheâd expected another sleepless night but, surprisingly, had fallen over quickly and stayed asleep all night.
Grabbing her phone from the bedside table, she shut the offending noise off and stretched her stiff muscles. Everything in her wanted to check if Jensen had called her back or sent a text through the night, but the thought of having no notifications terrified her more.
Y/N rolled out of bed, ignoring her phone for the time being, headed to the kitchen, put on the coffee machine, and raided the fridge for something that would resemble an acceptable breakfast for a fully functional adult.
After two mugs of coffee, microwaved leftover Chinese food, and a scalding hot shower, Y/N finally checked her phone.
No new notifications
Well, fuck.
Work had been a shit show. Sheâd had no concentration, no motivation, and no patience, which didnât bode well for someone who worked with kids all day. It felt like her whole world had turned upside down, and honestly? The productivity (or lack thereof) sheâd had that day meant she wouldâve been better calling in sick. And still, there was no contact from Jensen. No phone call or text. Nothing. It was just the radio silence that was becoming the norm.
Y/N skipped dinner, not having the appetite or want to eat, choosing to call her best friend instead and hoping it would cheer her up at least a little.
âHey, Y/N/N. How are you?â Gen said on the third ring.
âIâve been better,â Y/N chuckled sadly.
âHe still hasnât called?â Gen sounded furious, and she smiled despite her shitty mood.
âNope. Another cancelled Skype date, no calls or texts received or answered,â she sighed.
âIâm going to kill him!â Gen fumed. âHe called Jared earlier!â
âWhat?â Y/N said, her heart dropping to her stomach and ice-cold dread filling her veins.
âSweetie, Iâm sorry. I donât know what heâs playing at. Hang on, Iâll ask Jar what they talked about.â The line became muffled briefly as Gen spoke to her husband.
âJar says it was just a normal conversation, nothing out of the ordinary.â
âOh. Okay. It must just be me he doesnât want to talk to.â Her voice cracked, and she knew the tears werenât far behind.
âY/Nââ
âIâve gotta go.â Y/N didnât wait for a response before ending the call.
Changing into a pair of sweats and an oversized shirt, Y/N opened a bottle of wine and curled up on the couch with a blanket. It was only Wednesday, and she was over this week.
For the second time this week, Y/N woke up with a startâthis time from her couch with the TV still on and showing a late-night shopping program. The shrill ringing of her cell phone and the angry rumble of its vibration setting quickly alerted her to what had awoken her. She sat up, blinking at the bright light from the television as she grabbed her cell.
Dazed and extremely tired, she didnât look at who was calling before answering in a groggy voice, âHello?â
âHey, darlinâ,â Jensen greeted, and Y/N was instantly wide awake.
âJensen?â she asked, unable to hide the shock in her voice.
âWell, donât sound too surprised!â he chuckled.
âIâm sorry, Jay. Itâs been a few weeks since we last spoke. Guess I wasnât expecting you to call,â she sighed.
âIâm sorry, sweetheart,â he sighed. âItâs just been crazy here lately. Today is the first day off Iâve had in weeks!â he chuckled, and Y/N frowned.Â
âIsnât it super early for you?â she asked, their time difference finally sinking into her half-asleep brain.
âItâs just gone eight. But, I guess I didnât realise the time for you,â Jensen sighed. âIâm sorry. Iâll call you later if you want to get to bed.â
âDidnât you call Jared, like, four hours ago?â Y/N continued, unaware that her confusion was coming across to Jensen as an accusation.
âI did,â he replied calmly. âIâd been out with some of the guys and needed his advice before I talked to you.â
âOh. Okay.â The silence that fell over the line was deafening. Theyâd never had awkward silences between them before, and this was painful.
âSomething happened when I was out last night. Something that Iâm not proud of. Before I tell you this, I need you to know that I didnât cheat on you,â Jensen said, remaining calm.
âI wish I could say thatâs a relief, but somehow, I feel like that would've been better than whatever did happen.â Y/N tried to sound confident, but she heard the shake in her voice.
âThere was a group of us out last night, and Iâd had quite a lot to drink,â Jensen sputtered, and Y/N didnât know if it was so she didnât interrupt him or he didnât chicken out of whatever he needed to say.
âI was talking to a woman. Another American, and I was a little homesick, and I almost invited her back to my place. And then I remembered you.â
âYou remembered me?â Y/N repeated, completely stunned. âWhen did you forget about me?â
âIâm sorry,â Jensen exhaled in a sob.
âYou were the one who wanted to stay together, Jens. I told you itâd be too difficult, but you begged meâŠâ she scoffed, remembering their conversation like it was only yesterday. âYou promised me youâd make it work but forgot about me instead?â
âI know, and Iâm so sorry, sweetheart. I really wanted this to workââ
âWanted. Okay. Then I guess the only reason youâre calling me now, after almost three weeks of radio silence, is to tell me youâre breaking up with me?â
âI think itâs for the best. The last thing I want to do is hurt you.â Jensen was crying. She could hear it in his voice, and she willed her tears not to betray her.
âIâm already hurt, Jensen. In fact, I was right. This does hurt more than if youâd cheated on me,â Y/N sighed. âI knew this was a bad idea. I knew Iâd be the one to get hurt.â
âIâm hurting too, sweetheart, trust me.â
What she wanted to say was: âYou donât honestly expect me to believe that when you forgot you had a girlfriend until you almost took someone else home, do you? When how many of my calls have gone unanswered and unreturned? How many of my texts have gone unread?â
âI know.â Is what she said instead. Because she knew him better than anyone, and she believed him. Anything else she couldâve said wouldâve been said in the heat of the moment, and she knew sheâd regret it later.
âI love you, Y/N,â Jensen sobbed. âBut I donât want to hurt you more than I already have. And if last nightâs anything to go by, I might do something that I can never take back, and you can never forgive me for.â
âI love you, too. I have since the second I saw you. But I agree that itâs best if we end things,â Y/N sniffed, the tears finally disobeying her and running down her cheeks in rivers. âGoodbye, Jensen.â
She didnât wait for a response, ending the call and letting the tears run wild and free until she had nothing left.

âWhat a beautiful day,â Y/N smiled, content and in love, swaying in Jensenâs arms. âI donât think Gen and Jared couldâve hoped for a better wedding.â
âIt was, wasnât it? And you almost outshine the bride in that dress,â Jensen kissed her hair and moved them elegantly around the dancefloor.
âShh!â she giggled. âDonât let Gen hear you say that! Do you know how hard she searched for the perfect wedding dress? If she even thinks you think the bridesmaid dresses are more beautiful than hers, you will be a dead man!â
âOh, Gen is beautiful. Iâm not arguing about that, but you?â he whistled lowly to emphasise his point. âYou look stunning. And I cannot wait to rip that dress off you later!â
âJay!â she scolded, but the twinkle in her eye told him she didnât mind one bit.
âWhat?â he chuckled. âLike youâve not been undressing me with your eyes all day, wanting to get whatâs under this tuxedo!â
âAlright, you got me! I have been counting down the seconds âtil I can strip you out of that tux and have my wicked way with you!âÂ
âYou keep talking like that, and Iâll make our excuses to leave right now,â Jensen grinned at Y/Nâs giggle, still finding so much joy in making her go all bashful and cute.
âOh, stop it!â she grinned back before hiding her rapidly warming face in his broad chest.
âYouâre adorable, you know that?â he laughed, pushing her away from his body to spin her under his arm, pulling her back into him, and kissing her.
âHmm,â she hummed contentedly. âWhen do you think is an appropriate time for the best man and maid of honour to call it a night?â
âSoon, darlinâ, I promise. They know we need to head out early tomorrow if weâre gonna make it back to Texas in decent time for me getting back to work.â Jensen said, leaning down to capture Y/Nâs lips again. He could never get enough of her.
âNext week is gonna be a big week for you. How are you feeling?â Y/N asked, her big, beautiful doe eyes staring into his soul.
âNervous,â he chuckled. âIâve never had one of my dishes be added to a restaurantâs main menu before.â
âYou shouldnât be, baby. Itâs perfect,â Y/N assured him.
âNo, youâre perfect,â he smiled.
âWhat is with you and the flirting today?â Y/N grinned.
âIâm just being honest,â Jensen smirked.
âSeriously, Jay. When can we leave?â she whined, and he threw his head back and laughed.
âWhy? Do you need something, darlinâ?â he teased.
âYeah. I need you. Like, now.â
âCanât argue with that! Letâs go, baby girl.â
Y/Nâs bridesmaid dress lay discarded haphazardly on the hotel room floor, her strapless bra was hanging over the lampshade, and her lace panties had been torn to shreds by Jensenâs carnal need for her.Â
His tuxedo didnât fare much better; the pants lay in a heap by the door, his shoes on top of them. His white dress shirt clung onto his broad shoulders despite Y/N having ripped the buttons clean from the material, her small, delicate hands desperate to touch him.
Thereâd never been any complaints from either of them about their physical relationship, each happily declaring to anyone whoâd listen that they were having the best sex of their lives. But there was something about a slightly domineering and drunk Jensen that turned Y/N into a wanton whore.Â
âJensen, please!â Y/N begged as he teased her, his hands and lips trailing every inch of her, except where she really needed them to be trailing.
âUh uh, darlinâ. Iâm gonna take my time with you tonight. I havenât been around as much as Iâd like to have been lately. Gotta make it up to my girl,â Jensen growled against her stomach, his hot breath tickling her navel, making her shiver.
âNo! Please, Jensen! I need you now. Please stop teasing!â she whined, threading her fingers through his hair only for Jensen to bat them away, grabbing her wrists and holding them to the bed.
âI already told you, no touching! Am I gonna have to tie your hands to the bed, baby girl?â he rasped, pulling his tie out from under his shirt collar.
âJesus fuck!â she gasped. âNo, Iâll be good, I promise. Just⊠please, Jensen!â
âPlease, what?â he smirked up at her.
âTouch me, please!â she whined.
âI am touching you,â he stated, running his hands over her thighs.
âNot where I need you to. Fuck, Jensen, please!â she begged, getting more and more desperate for him to do something.
âThe more you beg, the more I am going to enjoy this,â Â Jensen chuckled at her frustrated whine. Heâd barely even started, and already the desperation dripping from her hoarse voice and, he hoped, her pussy, was better than anything heâd ever heard from her before.
âJay, Iâ I wantâŠâ she whimpered.
âYou want what, baby girl? Tell me!â he demanded, nipping the sensitive skin at the top of her thigh with his teeth and smirking at her moan.
âI want you in me!â she cried. âPlease, Jensen! I want⊠I need your cock inside me!â
âSee? It wasnât that hard to ask now, was it?â he chuckled, slowly trailing his lips up her torso and breasts. He pressed his lips to hers in a bruising kiss before she could say anything more, lining his painfully hard cock up with her soaking entrance and pushing forward in one long stroke.
A groan of ecstasy was ripped from his lungs when he couldnât push inside her any further. A glance at Y/N, her eyes rolled back, and a low moan rumbling from her gut almost made him cum.
âHoly fuck, Y/N! How are you still so tight?â he gasped as he pulled his hips back, feeling her tightness try and suck him back in. It was heaven, and he never wanted to sink into another woman ever again.
The ring heâd bought last month was still on his mind. He wanted to be with her for the rest of his life, of that he was completely sure. But seven months was too early to proposeâeven if he knew that was what he wanted. They werenât even living together yet, though they were looking at apartments.
âJens!â Y/N gasped, trying to pull her hands free of his so she could touch him, but he ignored her, pulling them above her head and holding them tighter as he pushed his hips harder, deeper into hers.
Jensenâs gaze locked onto hers and held it. A warmth spread through every vein in his body as he watched with love and fascination as all of her feelings for him were reflected in her eyes. Y/N gasped and closed her eyes, the telltale sign that she was about to cum.Â
âNo, baby, donât you dare close those pretty eyes. Look at me, please.â It was his turn to beg now, needing to see what he did to herâneeding to know that she felt the same way he did.
âJensen!â she moaned weakly, tearing her eyes open and settling them on his. âIâm gonnaââÂ
âI know, baby girl. Come on. Iâm right here, darlinâ. Give it to me,â he murmured lowly, groaning at the feeling of her walls fluttering, their squeeze getting tighter and tighter.
Finally, Y/Nâs body tensed, and her pussy contracted violently, triggering Jensenâs orgasm as she moaned her own high out through pants and gasps. Their gazes never faltered, and they stared deep into each otherâs souls as they rode out their pleasure.
When his breathing was normal, Jensen rolled onto his back and pulled Y/N into his side, wrapping his arms around her. âI love you, Y/N,â he whispered, kissing her head and sighing contentedly.
âI love you, too, Jensen. Always,â she yawned and settled into his embrace, quickly falling asleep, satiated and happy in his arms.
Three Weeks Later
âHey, man,â Jared said as he opened the door. âI wasnât expecting you. Is everything alright?â
âUh, no, not really,â Jensen replied.Â
Jared frowned but opened the door wider, inviting his best friend in. Jensen was always a pillar of calm and the voice of reason. To see him so flustered was a shock, and Jared knew whatever was going on with him was serious.
âIs Gen here?â Jensen asked as he walked into the kitchen and sat at the island.
âNo. Sheâs out running errands. Do you want me to call her? Is this about Y/N?â Jared responded, pulling two bottles of beer out of the fridge, twisting the tops off, handing one to Jensen, and taking a hearty glug of the other.
âItâs probably best that I talk to you about this first. I might want Genâs opinion, too, though.â Jensen swallowed half of the contents of his beer bottle and swiped a hand over his mouth.
âShe wonât be long, so come on, buddy. Tell me whatâs going on,â Jared encouraged.
âI got this,â Jensen said, holding out an envelope for Jared to take.
âWhat is it?â he asked, taking the paper from him.
âRead it,â Jensen sighed, picking up his bottle and taking another long drag of beer.
He watched Jaredâs eyes scan over the paper, lines furrowing his brow as he took in the words written on the letter. âOh.â
âYeah. Oh,â Jensen repeated. âItâs the opportunity of a lifetime. One I never thought Iâd get. But my life is different now. My priorities have changed.â
âThey have, but Jensen, this is an invitation to attend one of the most prestigious culinary schools in the world! Youâve been on the waitlist for a place like this for what, eight years now?â Jared said. âYou canât seriously be thinking of passing this up, are you?â
âYeah, Jared. I am. Because Iâve bought a ring for Y/N, and I canât ask her to give everything up to move to Paris with me for three years when her career is starting to take off, can I?â Jensen worried.
âYouâve bought a ring?â Jared grinned.
âIâve had it since before your wedding,â Jensen shrugged like it was no big deal.
âAnd you havenât asked her yet? Why?â
âBecause I thought it was too soon! You know what, focus, Jared, I have bigger problems right now!â Jensen shook his head, exasperated.
âYouâre right. Iâm sorry,â Jared replied sheepishly. âTo answer your question: Yes. You can ask her to go to Paris with you. She might say no, and thatâs completely within her right, but you need to give her the choice.â
âI know, butââ
âAnd,â Jared continued, ignoring whatever he was going to protest with. âYou need to talk to her about this. If you make a decision one way or the other without speaking to her, she will be so mad at you. Deservedly so.â
âI know, and I will. I just need to sound this out with you first. And maybe Gen. I donât know what to do here,â Jensen huffed, draining his bottle.
âWhy donât you start by telling me what you want, Jay?â Jared suggested. âTake Y/N out of it for just a second, and tell me what you want.â
âI want to go to Paris.â Jensen was surprised the answer to Jaredâs question came so easily, and instantly he felt awful. âThat makes me a shitty boyfriend, doesnât it?â
âNo, it doesnât. It makes you human. Put Y/N back in the picture and tell me what you want. Whatâs the ideal situation?â Jared asked.
âY/N comes to Paris with me,â Jensen shrugged as if the answer was obvious. âBut she has responsibilities here and her career. It wouldnât be fair of me to ask her to just up sticks and move to another continent.â
âYouâre right, it wouldnât. So, what then?â Jared questioned. âWhat would you do to go to Paris and keep your relationship going with Y/N?â
âEverything,â Jensen replied simply.
âThen you have your answer, right?â Jared smirked.
Summary: Jensen finally meets Y/N, the woman Jared and Gen say is perfect for him. Just when they think they have their happily ever after, opportunity knocks, taking Jensen halfway across the world. Heâs determined to make their relationship work from an ocean apart, but itâs much harder than they bargained for.

âTwo salmon risottos, one filet mignon, medium, and one pork medallion,â the head chef yelled across the kitchen. Jensen immediately threw some butter in a pan and placed two salmon fillets to sear.
âYes, chef!â he yelled, acknowledging the order as the other cooks sprang to life and called back to the boss, confirming they were starting on their portion of the dishes.
Being a chef was all Jensen had ever wanted. He didnât know where it came from. None of his family were in the restaurant business. All he knew was that on Motherâs Day, when he was twelve, he cooked his mom dinner and baked her a cake, and heâd been hooked on food and cooking ever since. Heâd been lucky enough to fall straight into the restaurant world after graduating from high school and had spent the past ten years working his way up from busboy to sous chef.
âYouâve got to share your secret, man,â Steve said as he stepped up to Jensenâs bench and waited for instructions.
âWhat secret?â Jensen grinned, knowing all too well what the kitchen porter was referring to.
âHowâd you manage to pull off only working the lunch shift on the Friday before Christmas?â
âI sold my soul to Mark,â Jensen smirked, and Steve laughed. âNo, seriously, I swapped my dinner shift tonight with Robâs lunch shift and agreed to work Christmas Day for him.â
âYou got a hot date or something? Thatâs the only reason I can think of that youâd willingly swap shifts to work on Christmas.â
âNo, an engagement party. Jared finally proposed to Gen, and since Iâm his best man, I thought Iâd better start racking up some favours from the guys to get time off for the bachelor party and wedding,â Jensen explained.
âI hope Jared appreciates you swapping a lunch shift for Christmas Day,â Steve chuckled.
âHe does. He told me I didnât need to go tonight, but I want to take my role as best man seriously. Besides, Robâs got a wife and kids, and Iâve got nothing, soâŠâ he shrugged like it was no big deal.
Although Jared did say it was okay to miss the party, his best friend had purposely mentioned that Y/N would be there several times. It wasnât even subtle in the end when Jensen woke up to a text from Jared this morning saying: âY/Nâs coming tonight.â
Y/N was Genâs best friend and would be her maid of honour, and since the first time Jensen had met his best friendâs girlfriend, sheâd gone on and on about how perfect she thought he and Y/N would be together.
He never took it too seriously at first, but when Jared met Y/N and agreed, heâd listened more intently whenever they mentioned her. If his best friend thought theyâd be good together, he knew there had to be something to it.
The only reason they hadnât met yet was because Y/N was a medical student and was doing her residency in Boston, and whenever sheâd managed to make it down to Austin, it had only been for a couple of days and heâd had to work.
His best friend getting married, and the thought of spending another Christmas alone made Jensen think that maybe it was time he became just a little bit selfish and started looking out for himself more. Started to think about what his life would be like outside of his career.
And so heâd swapped a shift to go tonight and finally meet the perfect woman for him. So what heâd have to work this Christmas? He was a chef, it wasnât the first time heâd missed a holiday, and it certainly wouldnât be the last. But maybe next year, knowing heâd have someone to go home to, wouldnât make working Christmas so hard.
Knocking on Jaredâs doorâa door heâd stood in front of hundreds of timesâshouldnât have been as terrifying as Jensen felt it was. He knew it was stupid, and there was no need to be so nervous; Y/N was just a woman. And if they didnât hit it off, it wasnât a big deal. They could walk away from tonight being friends, or at the very worst, being civil to each other at their mutual friendsâ future life events.
âWell, well, well!â Jared said when he opened the door. âLook what the cat dragged in! I gotta admit, youâre the last person I expected to see here tonight.â
âI can leave if thatâs what youâd prefer. Go home and drink this bottle of champagne alone,â Jensen deadpanned, relishing slightly in watching his best friend squirm.
âNo! Stay, please. I just didnât think youâd get the time off work to come. Iâm happy to see you, man. How have you been?â Jared pulled Jensen in for a hug and ushered him inside quickly.
âScared Iâm gonna make a run for it?â Jensen chuckled when Jared slammed the door behind him and shoved him further into the house.
âMaybe,â Jared shrugged. âGen, sweetheart, look whoâs here!â
âJensen!â Gen shrieked, a broad, delighted smile breaking across her delicate face. âItâs so good to see you! I didnât think youâd make it this close to Christmas.â
âAre you kidding? I wouldnât miss this,â Jensen said as he passed Gen the bottle of champagne and leaned down to kiss her cheek.
âYou mean you wouldnât miss finally meeting Y/N?â she smirked, her face filled with mischief.
âYou know we might not even like each other, right?â Jensen was shocked at how much his heart sank at that idea. His friends had been going on at him for so long about Y/N, and that sinking feeling made him realise just how much he hoped they were right.
âI donât think so.â Gen placed her hand on his arm and squeezed it gently. All mischievousness was gone, replaced by a softer, kinder tone. âI know you both pretty well, and I honestly think you guys will hit it off.â
âCome on,â Jared slapped his back. âLetâs get a whisky or two down you. We can catch up a little, and then Iâll introduce you.â
After two generous whiskies, Jensen felt much more relaxed than when heâd first walked into Jared and Genâs house. He was still nervous, and seeing Gen come back into the room and hug her future husband made him panic. He knew it meant she was becoming impatient with his and Jaredâs talking and wanted to make the introduction sheâd been waiting for.
While they were too busy with each other, Jensen grabbed a beer from the ice bucket on the kitchen island and quickly made his way out onto the patio. Heâd been to this house many times and found the perfect hideaway spot to escape to when the raucous parties his friends threw became too much for him and he needed some quiet.
As Jensen walked around the giant oak tree in the backyard, he noticed a woman sitting in the gazebo. He silently cursed himself as he stepped on a twig, the crack of it breaking and sounding much louder than it should in the tranquil sunset. Her head snapped in his direction, and he cursed himself again for startling her.
âIâm sorry. I didnât mean to disturb you. I just wanted some quiet from the party and thought Iâd come down here to the gazebo, but youâre here, so Iâm just gonna go,â Jensen turned to leave, stilling when she spoke.
âI donât mind sharing. I mean, if you want to. Thereâs enough room for the both of us,â she smiled.
âAre you sure?â he checked but found he was already moving towards her.
âYeah. Iâve been out here long enough, anyway. I really should get back in there. I canât hide forever,â she chuckled.
âMay I ask why youâre hiding?â Jensen smirked and sat across from her in the gazebo.
âItâs silly, really,â she shrugged.
âItâs probably not as silly as why Iâm hiding,â he laughed.
âIâll tell you mine if you tell me yours,â she giggled, and he grinned.
âAlright,â he agreed, unsure why he was opening up so easily to a complete stranger. âIâve known Jared for a long time. Iâve been to this house a thousand times, but this time itâs different. Thereâs someone here who I've never met in all the years Iâve been coming to barbecues, parties, and Super Bowl Sundays. And apparently, sheâs perfect for me. Iâm trying to put off meeting her for a little longer because I... Iâm scared that sheâs perfect for me, but Iâm not perfect for her.â Jensen looked down at his hands before glancing at the woman beside him, hiding her smile by sipping from the glass sheâd been nursing since he came here.
âWell,â she said, a slight smirk gracing her lips. âThereâs really only one way to find out, Jensen.â
âIâm sorry, have we met before?â Jensen frowned. He didnât remember telling her his name, and he was sure heâd remember meeting a woman as beautiful as her.
âIâm Y/N. Itâs nice to meet you finally,â she giggled, âand Iâm hiding in the gazebo for the same reason.â
Jensen felt his cheeks flush as he chuckled. Of course, heâd be open and honest about hiding from a person directly to the person heâs hiding from. âThatâs just like me,â he began âto make a horrible first impression.â
âI wouldnât say that. Youâve been kind and considerate. Not many people wouldâve come all the way down here, saw someone sitting, and left them to it. Theyâd have barrelled on down anyway,â she smiled.
âSo, uh, you were avoiding meeting me, too?â he asked, curious to see if that meant she was against the set-up their friends had been planning for years.
âNot avoiding, just nervous. Like you, I was worried that I wouldnât be as perfect as Gen and Jared had made me out to be, so when I heard her greet you when you came in, I panicked and ran!â she chuckled, and Jensen laughed.
âOkay, how about this? Iâll get us some drinks, and then we can start again. Without the pressure of our friends watching our every move. How does that sound?â Jensen asked.
âOh, Iâm good on the drinks front,â Y/N laughed, leaning behind her and picking up an almost full bottle of wine. She filled her glass to the brim and held the bottle out to him. âI only have one glass, though, soâŠâ
Jensen threw his head back and laughed heartily. Maybe Jared and Gen were right. Maybe she was perfect for him.
Jensen hadnât expected it; he doubted Y/N had either, but they just clicked. It was instant and intense, and he felt like heâd known her his whole life.Â
Jared and Gen hadnât been the least bit surprised when they came tumbling back into their kitchen, Y/N drowning in Jensenâs jacket, and both smiling and giggling like teenagers in love. Theyâd been even less surprised when the newly acquainted couple left the party together.
Six Months Later
âGood?â Jensen asked, watching Y/Nâs face intently for any clue about her thoughts on the dish heâd made her for their at-home date night. The restaurant was looking for several new dishes they could put on the menu as seasonal specials for the summer months, and heâd been trying to perfect this dish for the past few weeks.
âGood? Babe, this is incredible!â she replied, going in for another mouthful and humming her approval. âIt needed some freshness, but using apples to bring out a little sweetness? Itâs perfect!â
âYeah?â he asked. His concern that Y/N was only telling him what he wanted to hear turned to amusement as she mumbled an affirmative response around another mouthful of his dish.
âSo good. I donât want to stop eating,â Y/N confirmed after swallowing the previous mouthful and filling her fork with another. âYouâre an amazing chef, Jensen. I wish youâd stop doubting that.â
He didnât doubt he was a good chef; he knew he was. But there was something about Y/N that made him crave her approval in everything he did. No woman had ever made him feel the way she did. Every day, he woke up feeling thankful and blessed that he was with her and that she chose to be with him.
Very quickly into their relationship, he knew she was special. He knew that she was the one. And everything after that realisation became about her. All that mattered was her opinion of him and what he did. He wanted to keep impressing her and make her proud that he was her man.
He couldnât deny a part of it was because of his career. Being a chef came with unsociable hours. Late nights, weekends, holidays, and split shifts with random mid-afternoon hours off werenât easy for those who shared their lives with a chef. It wasnât easy for him sometimes. Still, he loved his job and wouldnât change it for the world.
One thing was sure, though: Jensen was in love and he wouldnât have it any other way.
âAre you okay, Jay?â Y/Nâs voice pulled him out of his thoughts, and he smiled at her furrowed brow.
âYeah, sorry. I was miles away.â Jensen walked around the kitchen island and spun the high stool so she faced him. He pushed her thighs apart, stepped between them, and wrapped his arms around her.
Y/N didnât hesitate to wrap her arms around his waist and rest her head on his chest. âWhatâs this for?â she asked, and he could hear the grin in her voice.
âI was miles away thinking about how much I love you,â Jensen kissed her head. âYou know that, right?â
âYeah, I know. I love you, too, Jensen.â
His heart sang. Those three little words meant the world to him. As he took comfort in the scent of Y/Nâs hair and perfume and relaxed in her embrace, his mind drifted to that little black velvet box hidden in his sock drawer, knowing with every fibre of his being that six months wasnât too early to pop the biggest question of his life.
Y/N looked up at him, her love for him written so clearly on her face. Jensen leaned in and kissed her, their lips gently grazing at first, but when she opened her mouth, he wasted no time slipping his tongue in, deepening the kiss.
Her hands slid into his hair, and he groaned as her delicate fingers tugged its strands. Jensen pulled her shirt over her head, taking a few seconds to admire her cleavage. His hands trailed lazily up her sides, and he smiled at her audible shiver.
Jensen placed soft kisses over her neck, feeling himself hardening as her chest heaved with arousal and emphasised the swell of her breasts that were dangerously close to spilling out of her bra.
âJensen!â Y/N gasped when his teeth grazed the sweet spot on her shoulder, and he trailed his lips down, making sure they explored every patch of visible skin on her chest.Â
Y/N desperately pulled at his shirt, and Jensen stopped his trailing lips long enough to take it off and discard it on the kitchen floor. Immediately, he returned to covering every inch of her with his kisses. He palmed at her covered breasts with one hand while the other slipped into her pants.
Jensen moaned as his fingers found her wet lace underwear, and he teased her clit over the silky fabric. She gasped at the sensation, her head falling back, and he took it as an invitation to trail kisses over her neck again.
He held her weight against him as she shoved her pants and underwear down. As soon as sheâd removed her clothing, Jensenâs finger pushed into her dripping core, desperate to be closer to her, to be inside of her. Y/Nâs moan made him shiver, and her legs opened wider, letting him push in a second finger.
âJensen!â Y/N whined as she pulled at his belt. âI need you.â
âYou have me, baby girl. Always.â Jensen let her undo his belt and jeans to get what she wanted. An unchecked whimper left him as her small, soft hand closed around his throbbing length.
âFuck, darlin'. I canât wait,â Jensen gasped as he shoved his jeans and underwear down and stepped between her legs. He pushed his hips forward, instantly finding her heat and hitting home in one deep stroke.
Their position wasnât ideal, and Jensen knew he wasnât hitting either of their spots trying to fuck her on a kitchen stool, so he encouraged her legs around his waist, wrapped his arms around her and lifted her into his arms.Â
In two strides, Jensen had Y/N pinned against the refrigerator. Finally able to get the right purchase, he slammed into her fast and deep, growling with every moan he was rewarded with.
âShit, Jay. Iâm gonna cum!â Y/N screamed, and Jensen knew he wouldnât be far behind her, and he was nowhere near finished with her yet.
Jensen pulled his hips back and untangled her legs from his waist, ignoring her protests, and dropped to his knees. He put one of her legs over his shoulder and placed his mouth over her dripping centre.
âMmm,â he hummed, the vibration making Y/N whimper. âYou taste so good, baby girl. Could eat you out all day.â
Jensen licked and sucked like a man possessed, not stopping until heâd ripped two screaming, leg-trembling, earth-shattering orgasms from Y/N. After carrying her limp and satiated body to his bed, Jensen spent the rest of the night coaxing as many orgasms from her as she could take.
