Mine Now
(Jack Harlow x Girlfriend Reader)
Synopsis: You steal his favorite hoodie one cold December evening⌠and donât say a word đ
Jack stood in front of the closet âshirtless, curls a messâ holding a pair of sweatpants in one hand, and staring into the open closet like he was losing his mind.
âYou seen my grey hoodie?â he mumbled, bending down to kneel, digging through the bottom drawer now. âYâknow â the one with the little red logo on the sleeve?â
You looked up from your spot on the bed, tucked under your favorite blanket, with your legs tucked underneath you, pretending not to know what he was talking about.
âWhich one?â you asked sweetly, chewing your lip to keep from laughing.
âThe soft one, with the long drawstring.â He kept his eyes on the drawer, like maybe if he focused hard enough, it would reappear. âI wore it to Urbanâs last week.â
You nodded innocently. âHmm. Maybe itâs in the laundry?â
He turned his head slowly, squinting like you were a suspect in a hoodie theft.
âI already checked,â he said matter-of-factly.
You blinked, doing your best impression of a concerned angel. âThen maybe you left it thereâŚâ You smiled softly, like a kid busted.
âI didnât,â he insisted. âI remember takinâ it off here.â
âWell, thatâs weird,â you said, cuddling closer into the blanket. Meanwhile, you knew exactly where it was â on you, under the blanket, where it had been for the past few hours⌠ever since you took it from his drawer two days ago.
He sighed, disappearing into the hallway, mumbling to himself. âHow the hell does a hoodie go missinâ in your own place?â
You waited until he disappeared into the laundry room, and then slowly but dramatically, lifted the edge of your blanket and peeked at the soft grey hoodie sleeves wrapped around your hands. The too-long cuffs, the worn collar, his scent still lingering on the collar and the whole fabric â it was too good to give back.
You tugged it tighter and smirked to yourself. âMine now,â you whined.
He reappeared a few minutes later, a towel now thrown over his shoulder, brows furrowed together in full confusion.
âIâm actually losinâ it,â he said. âYou sure you havenât seen it?â
You shook your head â probably a little too fast. âNope. Sorry, babe.â
He sighed again, grabbed his water bottle, and kissed your head before walking back out to the kitchen.
And when he was out of sight, you curled up deeper, sleeves pulled extremely long over your hands, buried in that hoodie like a guilty little thief in love.
Because nothing in the world felt safer than the weight of Jackâs hoodie wrapped around you like a blanket.
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
The sun was dipping through the window when Jack came padding down the hall, barefoot and quiet, water bottle in hand.
He gently pushed the door open and walked inside.
You were curled up on your side, asleep on his side of the bed, blanket wrapped around you like a burrito â only a small piece of your hair peeking out. Completely tucked in, peaceful and still.
âLook at you,â he whispered.
He smiled, letting out a quiet breath. You looked adorable like that.
He crept in quietly and plopped down beside you on the bed, elbow propped on the mattress as he leaned in to kiss your cheek.
The blanket was almost hiding your pretty face, so he reached up and tugged it down a little â and thatâs when he saw it.
His hoodie peeking out from your collarbone. Grey cotton, long drawstring, little red logo on the sleeve.
He froze, blinking in disbelief, pulling the blanket back a little more just to be sure.
âYou gotta be kiddinâ me,â he whispered with a stunned little smile. âSo this is where you been hidinâ it.â
And of course⌠looking so peaceful, soft lashes and cheek resting on your hand â how could he get mad? He let out a quiet laugh under his breath and shook his head.
You stirred slightly at the sound of his voice, letting out sleepy little whines but staying asleep â cuddled into the sleeve, since youâd worn it on purpose to nap like that.
You just scrunched your nose a little, brow burrowing sleepily as you turned toward him, bringing the cuff of the hoodie sleeve up to your cheek in your sleep.
He just lovingly watched you for a moment, soft and completely disarmed. His hoodie had never looked better â oversized on your tiny frame, sleeves drowning your hands, collar loose around your neck.
He thought looked better in it than he ever did â like it belonged there and had always belonged to you.
âYouâre lucky youâre cute,â he whispered, brushing a finger over your cheek and pressing one more kiss there.
He grabbed his phone and took a quick photo of you all bundled up in his hoodie.
âThe cutest little thief,â he muttered, grinning to himself.
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
About half an hour later, you stretched again, blinked awake slowly, and let out a sleepy little yawn. Everything was peaceful â until you turned your headâŚ
Jack was right there. Lying beside you, one arm behind his head, the other casually scrolling through his phone like nothing had happened â like he hadnât just caught you red-handed.
You eyes widened and you froze completely â his hoodie!
You were still wrapped in his hoodie â the one heâd been looking for like crazy all day, the one you swore you hadnât seen, the one that now smelled like both of you.
He noticed, of course. But still didnât look at you â just scrolled with a smug little grin on his face.
âSleep good?â he asked, voice low and teasing.
You made a tiny noise âhalf yawn, half whineâ and immediately pulled the blanket over your entire head like a turtle retreating into its shell.
âDonât look at me,â you whined from under the covers.
âI donât have to,â he said camly. âI already got the picture.â
Your heart stopped. âJack!!â you shrieked, muffled and mortified.
He laughed, finally putting his phone down and rolling to his side to face you â or rather, the blanket mound that was now you. His curls were flopping onto his forehead. His grin smug but somehow still soft.
âI KNEW I didnât lose it,â he said, grinning. âYou really had me thinking I left it at Momâs.â
ââŚMaybe you did,â you protested weakly, still buried.
He reached over and poked gently at your shoulder, but you didnât move. He chuckled and gently peeled back the blanket just enough to see your eyes.
âYouâre lucky youâre cute,â he said once again, leaning in to kiss your cheek for the millionth time â but only the first since youâd woken up.
âAre you mad?â you shyly asked in the tiniest voice.
He just looked at you for a long second, smiling like a man completely wrapped around your little hoodie-thieving finger. Like he couldnât believe youâd even ask such a question.
âNo,â he said softly. âJust wouldâve liked to see you in it sooner.â
You let out a groan and shoved your face into his chest, hoodie sleeves pulled over your hands again.
You made yourself comfortable there â buried in his chest, pressed against him, still wearing the hoodie, still embarrassed.
âSorry, Jack,â you said in a soft, sing-songy voice. âIt just smelled like you and it made me so happy.â
âI love you, sweet girl,â he mumbled into your hair.
