Brian Keith is the lunk with charm and #steals all his early scenes; that is until his unspecified head wound (maybe a euphemism for ptsd??) plays up and he decides to turn a #prank idea into a real hold up. Along for the ride is Kim Novak in one of her very first roles altho she isn't given a whole lot to do #the heist itself is well filmed and there's some moody stuff in an impressive parking garage but this falls down in the character work and #in failing to really interrogate the idea of disaffected veterans returning to student life (15 yrs later this could have been a great #neo noir in the shadow of vietnam but i guess the US wasn't quite there yet with Korea). Cannon himself Bill Conrad turns up as a casino #worker who gets forced into the plan; much is made of said plan‚ which is the idea of a genius member of the group and is apparently #guaranteed to succeed; the film keeps the details murky until the actual heist is going down‚ at which point the reveal of this super smart #idea is... kind of laughable unfortunately. it's a cassette tape in a box. maybe in 1955 that was genius but boy it sure looks dumb now
