my fave ship trope of mine can be summarized as "edgy character falls for the one person theyve actually been able to bond with bc that person forced their way into accompanying Edgy without being too overbearing and theyre compassionate to them about their angsty past" with a side of "edgy will protect them with their life and are the only person that they let themselves be mushy n cute around" and also often leads to "that one person helps Edgy learn to be better and open up more which leads them to gradually being able to befriend others too"
