If we get another Fairy Tail Movie, it should involve Ivan and Raven Tail.

Like it's post-Alveraz by pre-100 Years Quest. Ivan decides to enact his revenge with Makarov in as poor of a shape he's in and we get the dirt on what happened all that time ago.

If not a film, I can see it as a final finale storyline after 100 Years Quest. Like Hiro Mashima decides to cap it off for good with no further loose ends and thinks, "Hmmm, Raven Tail was kinda sold short in favor of Saber Tooth then."

Things in Fairy Tail that I think should've been explained/acknowledged

Jellal's birthplace: think abt it, as far as i know, not much is known abt Earthland Jellal's backstory, only that he was one of the many children that were forced to work on the Tower of Heaven. It is explained that the cultists raided villages and kidnapped children, but i feel like Jellal's character eludes to an origin that wouldn't make it to where he winds up as a child slave. But he does have incredible potential for a riveting backstory.

Jellal's face tattoo: yeah i feel like we all were waiting for some kind of explanation abt this but we never know. i think it would've been interesting if he got it when he was possessed and it just stayed with him, but unfortunately, it's not.

Where the hell is everybody's mom???: seriously, does everyone's wife suddenly leave the picture every time they have a baby? (and now that i think abt it, that is a very cruel joke lmao. Lucy's mom, Mavis, Cana's mom, Makarov's mom, Romeo's mom.) I feel like i'm watching a disney movie with amount of missing parents this show has. tbh i do kind of find it interesting how FT is very father-focused, but that just makes me wonder abt Laxus's mother/Ivan's wife and Makarov's wife. I haven't been in this fandom nearly as long as some others, but i find it strange how literally nobody has stopped and thought: "Wait, Ivan is Makarov's son by blood, (the only other way being his son-in-law, which would mean that Makarov had a daughter), so that means Makarov had to have had a wife he had a child with?" And you'd think that even the late wife of the guild master would be mentioned at some point in the story.

Off-topic but Dear Wormwood by The Oh Hellos is Laxus' song, SPECIFICALLY sung to Ivan.

That is his song about growing up in that environment, being a product of it "becoming what I hate", growing past that, and then coming to terms with himself and his father.

I personally believe that Ivan was Makarov’s son-in-law, not his actual son, and there is nothing that can convince me otherwise. They look nothing alike, and Makarov is exactly the kind of sappy, overcommitted family man to call his daughter’s husband his kid even after he turns out to be a total dick. It’s not like we have any shots of when Ivan was a child to challenge this.

I don't remember where I saw the argument that the reason the raven tail bit couldn't be resolved in it's own arc was because team natsu wasn't involved but I keep thinking about it and

In a way they're right, but literally only because I strongly, strongly believe Ivan & Raven Tail was resolved the way it was because Mashima just wanted to close that chapter and move on, as he could not figure out how to write team natsu into that plot. (assumption.)

He could absolutely have written team natsu into that plot. Just in a way that's more of them being intrusive rather then have them already be involved.

This Could Have Been A Spinoff Series, if not a separate arc, if they really couldn't be in the plot.
