There’s a fucking heatwave in October
And that’s just one of my problems today. They call it Indian summer here in NJ but I call it bull shit. I am dying for a cigarette and am dangerously addicted to cheese its.
As I shove fruit into my face because it’s good for me and swill coffee like it’s Jack Daniel’s I am reminded of just how far I have come and how much further I have to go. I write a little. Am I a great writer? Hell no. Am I am ok writer. Yes. I am. It gives me joy after years of being told I couldn’t do it by someone who was supposed to love me.
I follow my heart now since I am no longer married to that person. It seems his words are always with me though. Hack, no talent, shitty nurse, imperfect. The good news is, I don’t have to be perfect today. Am I a great nurse? No. I am a good nurse, no one is great. Least if all me. Do I do my best? Always. I recently graduated college and will sit for my NCLEX-RN exam soon after years of being “just” an LPN. I have come so far from where I once was.
I passed a practical capstone exam that has brought others to their knees. Nothing can shake me after that. Nothing. And if I can pass the CPNE(google it😳) you can do anything . No matter who’s giving you shit. Just. Do. It.
Words are just what they are. Words. They have no value to me anymore, unless I am putting them down on paper in my own special way. I want to encourage anyone who thinks they can’t do something. Because you can. You can do it. You can do anything you want. That is the beauty of life and don’t let anyone steal your joy and fire.
I let someone put out my fire once and it was a cold dark place that I will never revisit. Do what makes you happy. Write the things you want to write. Go to college no matter how old you are if that’s what you want to do. I went part time for seven years, because I had to work. But guess what? Those seven years went by and I didn’t quit( again). Life will go by and it’s too short not to follow your heart and seek your joy. Ignore any nonsense people might throw your way and do the thing you want to do.
