there's writers who very obviously grew up with siblings and there's writers who very obviously did not but i think we need more recognition and representation for writers who did grow up with at least A Sibling but that sibling was 5+ years older and/or the opposite gender and/or so wildly different from you and/or some other reason specific to your circumstance that the dynamic that developed between you growing up and the bond you have (or don't have) currently doesn't feel much if at all like the usual older sibling/younger sibling dynamic you see in media or hear from other people and many days you feel like you're basically an only child but also not and that's a stranger but also not and you don't know how to explain it so you just don't and this bleeds into your writing in ways that are beyond even your own comprehension. i know it can't be just me
