Fucking yourself stupid is cool until you gotta clean up, feed yourself, hydrate, and do aftercare all on your own 🥹
I've just about had it.
How many people do I have to block? How many long-time trek channels on YT do I have to unsubscribe to because of the outright asinine negativity. People are saying SNW is right-wing now, apparently? (What the entire fuck is that take? Fuck all the way off.) I just closed out of a TrekCulture review vid (whose videos i normally enjoy) on YouTube about this week's episode because they completely lost the fucking plot by complaining THE ENTIRE time that it wasn't a proper documentary, it was amateurish, etc. THATS THE FUCKING POINT. HELLO?
Umberto is a young amateur journalist and filmmaker. This documentary style reeks of a second year film student project, and that was intentional. Umberto isn't coming at this with any semblance of objectivity. He has a personal agenda. He wants to find something, anything negative to prove a point, his point. He's angry and comes off as accusatory because he blames Starfleet for his sister's trauma. He asks naive and insensitive questions because he's fishing for a gotcha. But what he finds isn't what he expects. The ending feels as if it abruptly lost steam because so did he. There was nothing for him to find.
The criticisms i do agree with are that the episode was too short, that there were missed opportunities for more focus on Erica, and that there was definitely room for deeper exploration into the questions posed by this episode. But I believe that, too, was intentional. A more experienced journalist would have delved deeper into those questions and presented us with a more nuanced and objective take.
But that's not what we got. What we got was a biased take from a young man who has a chip on his shoulder in regard to this organization that he feels is the cause of his sister's pain. Yet, there was also an emotional sincerity to the entire episode that nearly left me in tears.
And I loved it.
It's different, it's a risk, and it's classic Trek in a new format. SNW deserves a modicum of respect just for having the balls to take risks of this magnitude with the small number of episodes given. Sometimes it lands, sometimes it doesn't. So far, for me, they've all landed.
Im tired of the fucking complaints about 'gimmick' episodes as if its a new thing in Trek. Shut the fuck up already.
This show is a lighthouse in a storm rife with negativity. Let people find shelter in it. Not all of us want to be carried out to sea on a wave of cynical bullshit. Just stop.
Im tired. We're all tired. If you can't find enjoyment in SNW, shut up, stop watching, and let those of us who enjoy it indulge in some escapism away from this hell we call a reality once a week.
Live and let live, for fucks sake. Please.
i genuinely adore how you write smc, it’s so so real and accurate
on that note, could you write something in relation of him & a reader with terminal illness ?
Generally speaking, there's not much that would change in his behavior. He's still overbearing and sickeningly sweet to you. There are a few things that might be a little different though.
He probably could magically cure you if he wanted to, but I fucking HATE that trope in media with a passion. So I'm not gonna touch it because disabled people aren't broken, they just need to be accommodated. And that's number one; he is super accommodating to your needs. The spire is made so it is easier for you to get around, if you can't walk or struggle to do so with your illness he'll make you the nicest mobility aids ever. You won't have to worry about things not working or being unable to wander around, he'll make sure you can.
If you're having a bad day, you won't have to want for anything. He's at your beck and call, whenever you need him. If he even leaves your side at all. If he does for any reason, one of his many servants will take care of you until he can. It is the best care you could ever ask for, I'm serious. He knows all about how to care for all kinds of disorders and diseases, so he applies that knowledge to you better than any doctor you've seen has. Perks of being with the former fount of knowledge I guess lol.
He's more protective than even if you're ill. He'll still let you go about your day, but he's anxious about anything that could happen to you more than usual. You've already got limited time, he's not trying to make that time any shorter for any reason. Even the slightest shift in expression and he's at your side like a worried mother, it would be cute if it didn't happen so fucking much.
Lastly, and this is dependent on what you want in this case. If your illness is too much to bear and he cannot take it away, he won't try and extend your life. He wants you to spend the rest of eternity by his side, he adores you more than anything, but if you're suffering he can't bring himself to force you to live with the pain.
He'll do everything he can to make your life easier, even if he can't magically cure you. The time you spend with him is likely the best you'll ever feel because he will never let you feel like your disease defines who you are.
You will be loved, though. Cared for and cherished with or without your illness. He of all cookies understands that your disabilities and limitations do not define you as a person, they are simply a part of you that he comes to accept and cherish.
I’ve been coming in and out of very intense shifts all day and I just. I’m so tired man. I wanna go to bed.

TBH I dont really like bringing up drama or discourse in the main tag because its kinda annoying for the people browsing (me)
But honestly I wish I could just browse the tag in peace without seeing new people bash joongdok (and specifically joongdok, never dokjoong) every now and then. Blocking only helps to the degree where new people will not suddenly feel the desire to join the bashing because it's "cool". Like is this fun to you? I mean it certainly must be but is this even productive? As a whole?
Because I know for a fact that a lot of JDer who felt positively towards other ships, even reverse, have soured a lot on them. All because of the treatment of JDer by the ""rival"" ships' fans. Even if you go "oh it's not all JDers obv" you lot still generalise JD fans into the cringe cishet women fujo, so it's actually okay to bash it. Which honestly? Kinda misogynistic of you guys. Even the simple assumption that JDer must be primarily (cishet) women is misogynistic at its core.
And more often than not, rather than be actually thoughtful criticism of the fandom it, quite bluntly, boils down to this:
Even in ORV itself, Uriel, the stand in for fujos, isn't an important ally despite being a fujo, but being a fujo is part of her and her love for KDJ's story isn't portrayed as any lesser. In fact there are several times in the novel where KDJ will comment how he wished more constellations were more like Uriel; her love for the story is so genuine and fierce and it's never negative that she does so due to shipping.
And generally KDJ also thinks very highly of her, which you can read as SnS doing so too. So acting like Uriel is there to ridicule fujo is just textually wrong.
Even when dudebros harrased SnS with death threats, claimign ORV was false advertisment because its secretly a BL, SnS only spoke of BL in the highest of tones, saying its an insult to use BL as derogatory term to describe media.
I don't expect you guys to adhere to the HCs of JDers. I don't even think you should, I disagree with your metas and HCs too, which is totally normal and fine. But at the very least I expect you to be not put on other real life people down in public. And I knnow a lot of you are followed by many people in the community, so I at the very least expect you to be civil about it. Because you're setting a bad precedent by doing it so frequently.
My thoughts on the Sabrina carpenter album cover drama that wasn't asked for
When progressives are so far left they're right it feeds misogyny more.
Idec care if the cover and album isn't satire or whatever. It's misogyny now if women are sexual ? Sounds conservative to me.
"But but she's sexualizing her self and its degrading" so ? Literally who cares. Like maybe its a little kinky, so what !!
I promise u this is not setting the feminist movement back, but people saying she can't do that IS.
Women can actually do whatever they want. If women want to be covered head to toe and never have sex. Great love that for them. If they wanna sleep around and be sexual or dress sexual also Great 👍
the absolute worst part of dressing feminine or expressing femininity in general is that there are so many RULES and people dont tell you them and it feels like youre supposed to just intuit it because if you dress or act the wrong way then people laugh at you. so if youre autistic and you already struggle with reading social ques then trying to dress like other women makes you feel like a punchline
