i just saw a friend of mine at the dog park this morning. she had covid back in march. she survived it, but suffered extensive organ damage from the virus. even now, in december, her brain has not fully recovered. she had to pause and try to place where she was mid-conversation. her fact recall is gone. she sometimes stutters in ways she never used to. she shared with me that she draws now because she can no longer read. sheās trying to stay positive, but sheās had to re-calibrate her whole life just so she can keep living ānormallyā despite what is likely permanent brain damage.
this is not ājust the fluā. there are lasting, lifelong health implications of contracting it, for those who are lucky enough to live through it. please be smart during this scary time. i canāt stop thinking about her and all the people like her who are gone or forever changed.
